Chapter 19 Abandoned in Public

She was wearing an off-the-shoulder dress, and her skin was now red from the cold.

Lu Rang frowned and walked over.

Shang Wu suddenly felt a weight on her shoulder, and a faint, subtle fragrance wafted towards her.

She wrapped her coat tighter around herself and winked at Lu Rang.

"Why would Attorney Lu be at a business cocktail party like this? Does your law firm have connections with the Su family?"

"No."

Lu Rang didn't look at her, but instead gazed at the fountain in front of him.

"Can we still tolerate this?"

The topic changed so quickly that Shang Wu didn't even have time to react.

Two seconds later, she realized that Lu Rang was asking if she could still tolerate being Zhou Yanci's fiancée.

Shang Wu took a mint from her handbag and put it on her tongue.

A cold wind blew by, and she inhaled the cold air. Combined with the coolness of the mint, the feeling was incredibly unpleasant.

Shang Wu almost lost control of her facial expressions because of the spiciness, but she felt much better.

She exhaled.

"There's nothing I can't tolerate. When something becomes a powerful driving force, I can endure even walking on the edge of a knife."

Lu Rang looked down at her for a long time: "Remember to dry clean the coat before giving it to me. I'm leaving."

He turned to leave, then paused.

"There's something in my pocket for you."

Shang Wu was puzzled. She watched him leave before reaching into her pocket and pulling out a coffee-flavored milk candy.

Shang Wu paused for a moment, a strange feeling creeping over her.

She really didn't expect that a lawyer like Lu Rang, who seemed so serious and boring, would actually carry milk candy with him.

Shang Wu peeled off the candy coating, spat the mint into the coating, wrapped it up, threw it into the trash can, and ate the milk candy.

Instantly, the cool and spicy sensation in my mouth was diluted by the milky taste.

As Shang Wu savored the food, she suddenly realized that it wouldn't be bad to change things up occasionally and add a little sweetness to life.

She walked to the side of the road, hailed a taxi, and left, just missing a Maybach that sped towards her with its headlights on.

Ji Yu parked his car at the entrance of the business reception and looked around, but couldn't see Shang Wu anywhere.

She took out her phone and called Zhou Yanci in a bad mood.

"What's going on here? Shang Wu is no longer at the party!"

She also gave the invitation to Chenmian, so there was no way for her to go in and find it.

"I'll go home and check again. She might already be home by now. You're really giving me trouble. I'm sleeping soundly at home!"

Although Ji Yu complained like that, her eyes were full of smugness and a relieved smile.

She deliberately took a picture of Shang Wu so that Chen Mian would come wearing the same outfit.

Unexpectedly, Chenmian's methods were more cunning than hers. The matching clothes did not break Shang Wu's defenses, but she staged a scene of falling and getting injured.

Zhou Yanci picked her up and rushed out, leaving Shang Wu behind.

Ji Yu could easily imagine how embarrassed and awkward Shang Wu must have felt at the party.

She was always the true love that Prince Chengzhou spoke of, the love that he would never regret in this life.

However, when faced with true love and her ex, Zhou Yanci resolutely chose the latter.

If this gets out from the party, Shang Wu will lose all face.

Thinking of this, Ji Yu couldn't wait to rush back and see Shang Wu make a fool of himself.

When she arrived at the apartment, the lights were indeed on.

Ji Yu tried to unlock the door without saying a word, but after several attempts, she found that the password was wrong and had no choice but to ring the doorbell.

Shang Wu opened the door and went straight in to question her: "Why did you change the lock?"

Shang Wu turned to the side, a hint of impatience flashing in her eyes.

"If you don't want Zhou Yanci to come in, then change it. What, is there something wrong with you?"

Hearing her cold tone, Ji Yu felt completely bewildered.

She hadn't provoked Shang Wu, so why was Shang Wu giving her such a hard time?

Her gaze turned worried as she walked over and took Shang Wu's hand.

"I've already heard that Zhou Yanci abandoned you at the party and ran off with Chenmian in his arms, right?"

Shang Wu sneered inwardly, pulled her hand back, and pretended to be angry, as if she had been touched on a sore spot.

"Did you come here specifically to mock me? Why bring up something you shouldn't have said?"

Ji Yu immediately felt wronged: "How could that be? I'm just worried about you! I heard Yan Ci is still at the hospital with Shen Mian, do you want to go and see her?"

A glint of light flashed in her eyes.

Shang Wu keenly sensed her intentions and narrowed his eyes.

Ji Yu put her arm around Shang Wu's and smiled brightly.

"Yan Ci said that he would take Chenmian away because Chenmian is afraid of blood. Once the symptoms occur, she will not be able to regulate her breathing and is prone to shock. He did this to save people."

Shang Wu remained unmoved.

"Come on, come on. I'm afraid my words will upset you, and I've been feeling uneasy. If you go over there, we can clear up the misunderstanding." Ji Yu said, her voice filled with impatience.

Shang Wu paused for two seconds: "Go drive."

“That’s more like it. We need to communicate more. Yan Ci has already been very good to you. If there hadn’t been a reason for this, he wouldn’t have been willing to neglect you.” Ji Yu smiled and picked up her car keys.

Shang Wu didn't let the hint of triumph in her smile slip by, and followed her out with her bag.

The two drove to the hospital and went straight to the ward where Chen Mian was staying.

As soon as she reached the door, Ji Yu's expression suddenly changed. She covered her mouth and backed away, as if she had seen something she shouldn't have.
