Chapter 190 A Kiss Using a Pretend Position

The phone rang again, interrupting Shang Wu's thoughts.

It was an unfamiliar number from Lincheng.

Shang Wu answered the phone.

"Hello?"

"Is this Miss Shang Wu?" A steady voice came from the other end of the phone. "This is Liang Zhengcheng."

General Manager Liang? General Manager Sun's superior?

Shang Wu then warmed up a bit: "Hello, Mr. Liang."

“Ms. Shang, Mr. Sun has already given me a detailed report on you and your studio. I am very interested in your design concepts and there is a lot of room for cooperation.”

Mr. Liang's words were direct and forceful: "It's inconvenient to communicate over the phone. I wonder if it would be convenient for Ms. Shang to come back to Lincheng? We can discuss this in person, and I'm sure you'll be satisfied with the price."

Back to Lincheng, the place she had just fled?

Shang Wu instinctively wanted to refuse.

But she really wanted to take on this IP collaboration.

This was enough to allow her studio to gain a firm foothold.

She pursed her lips: "Okay, Mr. Liang, but I can only go for one day. When is it convenient for you to come?"

"The sooner the better, how about tomorrow?" President Liang was efficient. "I'll arrange your schedule. There will be a car to pick you up. It's driven by a friend of mine, and it's on his way."

A private car pick-up? Or is it Mr. Liang's friend's car? Shang Wu felt something was off, but the other party's attitude was sincere and the arrangements were thoughtful, so she couldn't refuse any longer and could only agree.

"Thank you for your help, Mr. Liang."

The next morning.

A gray Maybach pulled up in front of the studio right on time.

The driver got out of the car and respectfully opened the car door for Shang Wu.

After thanking her, Shang Wu sat in the back seat. The car was filled with a cool and clean fragrance, which made her heart tighten for no reason.

Shang Wu immediately told herself not to overthink things.

Luxury cars should all have similar fragrances.

The vehicle drove smoothly toward the airport in silence.

A few hours later, the plane landed at Lincheng Airport.

As Shang Wu walked out of the gate with the flow of people, just as she was about to call the contact information sent by General Manager Liang, a driver dressed in a black suit with a serious expression came up to her.

"Miss Shang, this way please, the car is already waiting."

Shang Wu followed him to the parking lot. When she saw the familiar license plate number, she froze on the spot, her face changing instantly.

This is not Mr. Liang's friend's car.

This is Lu Rang's car.

The so-called private car service, the so-called friends of General Manager Liang... were all him?

The driver had already opened the back door.

"Miss Shang, please."

Inside the car, Lu Rang leaned back lazily in the back seat, his gaze fixed on a document on his lap, as if he had only given her a ride by chance.

Hearing the noise, he slowly raised his head, staring straight at her with a scrutinizing look.

Shang Wu could no longer understand the complexity in Lu Rang's eyes.

What exactly does he want? He keeps appearing around her.

What seems like a coincidence can become too contrived if there are too many coincidences.

Or...did he discover something?

No, that's impossible.

His mother has passed away, and the truth of what happened back then, along with Lu Rang's memories, has been completely buried in the past.

He couldn't possibly recall the past between the Yu family and the merchants.

What was his purpose?

Shang Wu forced herself to calm down.

Whatever he wants to do, she can't let him disturb her peace of mind anymore.

He's doing very well now, his career is booming, while she just wants to stay far away from him and live her own life.

She clenched her fists, her nails digging deep into her flesh, using the pain to keep herself awake.

When he looked up again, Shang Wu had the kind of nonchalant, slightly seductive smile that Lu Rang hated most.

She didn't get into the car, but bent down slightly and said to Lu Rang inside the car with a sweet smile through the door, "Oh, so it's Mr. Lu's car? What a coincidence, Mr. Liang's friend is you."

Looking at the fake smile on her face, Lu Rang's eyes suddenly turned cold, and his thin lips pressed tightly together.

Shang Wu seemed oblivious to his darkening expression and continued, "But I'm really sorry to trouble Mr. Lu to make the trip. I could have just taken a taxi myself, since Chunzhi invited me to an art exhibition after we finish discussing the collaboration. His new painter friend is so handsome..."

She deliberately spoke ambiguously, and after searching high and low, only Chen Chunzhi seemed to be able to be associated with her.

Sure enough, Lu Rang's face instantly darkened, and the air pressure around him was so low that it seemed to freeze into ice.

He slammed the document shut with a sharp sound, his eyes blazing with barely suppressed disgust and anger.

Lu Rang stared intently at her, as if he wanted to tear her alluring exterior apart to see what kind of heart lay hidden inside.

After a long pause, he finally managed to squeeze out a chilling sentence through gritted teeth: "Shang Wu, you really are... unable to be without a man for even a moment?"

Shang Wu felt as if her heart had been pierced by those words, bleeding profusely, but the smile on her face grew even brighter.

"Life is short, so enjoy it while you can. Of course, a gentleman like Mr. Lu wouldn't understand that."

After saying that, she stood up straight and smiled at the dumbfounded driver next to her, without waiting for Lu Rang to speak again.

"Thank you for your trouble, but I'll just take a taxi myself so as not to waste your young master's precious time."

She turned around, wearing high heels, straightened her back, and walked step by step towards the taxi waiting area.

Only after getting into the taxi and giving the address did Shang Wu allow herself to slump in the back seat, feeling as if she had just fought a hard battle that had exhausted all her strength, her whole body ice-cold.

Inside the Maybach, Lu Rang's eyes blazed with fury.

There was also a sharp, indescribable pain that almost tormented him to the point of causing a headache.
