Chapter 239 Three People, Eight Hundred Minds

In the evening, after dealing with urgent company matters, Lu Rang made a special detour to a well-known private restaurant.

He packed a few light dishes that Shang Wu usually liked to eat, and also brought a small bottle of beautifully packaged low-alcohol fruit wine, thinking that an occasional drink might help Shang Wu relax.

Lu Rang carried the food into the ward, his face gentle: "Are you hungry? I brought you some food, and this too."

He shook the pretty bottle of fruit wine. "Plum wine, very low alcohol content. I heard it's good for sleep. Want to try some?"

Before Shang Wu could react, Lu You, who was standing next to him, jumped up from her chair like a cat whose tail had been stepped on.

She snatched the bottle of wine, her voice rising eight octaves: "What kind of wine are you drinking! You can't drink!"

Her reaction stunned both Lu Rang and Shang Wu.

Lu Rang's hand was still frozen in mid-air as he looked at Lu You in astonishment: "It's just a little fruit wine, not much alcohol."

He felt that Lu You's reaction was a bit excessive.

Shang Wu's heart jumped into her throat instantly. She instinctively covered her lower abdomen with her hand and looked nervously at Lu You, signaling her to calm down with her eyes.

Lu You realized she had lost her composure and quickly tried to cover it up, but her tone was still a little flustered: "Oh, I mean, A-Wu's foot injury hasn't healed yet, and she also has a concussion. Drinking will affect her recovery! Yes, it will affect her recovery!"

"And she's still taking medication, so she can't mix alcohol with her medication!" she said, quickly hiding the bottle behind her back as if it were some kind of poison.

Lu Rang frowned slightly, glanced at Shang Wu, whose expression seemed somewhat unnatural, and then at Lu You, who was clearly nervous. His doubts deepened.

Since Shang Wu was injured, doctors have not strictly prohibited him from drinking alcohol.

Lu You knew that occasional small amounts of low-alcohol beverages were harmless.

This reaction today is very unusual.

Lu Rang didn't press the matter on the spot, but just smiled nonchalantly: "I'll listen to Sister You, then let's not drink anymore and eat first."

He opened each lunchbox and carefully handed the chopsticks to Shang Wu.

Throughout the meal, Lu Rang seemed somewhat distracted.

He keenly sensed that Shang Wu's mood seemed even more depressed than before.

Shang Wu tried her best to appear normal, but the absent-mindedness and preoccupation in her eyes could not be hidden from him.

Thinking about Lu You's overreaction just now, Lu Rang suddenly had a guess.

After finishing his meal, Lu Rang made an excuse to ask the doctor about Shang Wu's foot injury follow-up examination and left the ward.

He didn't go to the orthopedics department, but went straight to the obstetrics and gynecology department.

With his status and connections, he quickly found the doctor who had examined Shang Wu that afternoon.

After he identified himself and explained his purpose, the doctor confirmed that he was indeed the patient's husband, sighed, and told him the situation.

"Mr. Lu, Ms. Shang is indeed pregnant, about five weeks along. From a medical perspective, the embryo's development is currently normal."

The doctor adjusted his glasses, his tone becoming somewhat cautious. "However, Ms. Shang didn't seem very happy after hearing the news. She appeared somewhat depressed and worried. We advise her family to provide her with psychological support."

"A pregnant woman's emotions are crucial to the fetus. If you are not ready to have a child, you need to communicate and make a decision as soon as possible."

Lu Rang was startled.

I'm pregnant!

He was going to have a child with Shang Wu! But then, what the doctor said next made him less happy.

The doctor said Shang Wu was not happy and was in low spirits.

Is it because they're not ready? Or because they don't want the child?

Lu Rang slowly frowned.

He didn't go back to the ward immediately, but stood by the window at the end of the corridor for a long time, looking at the deep night outside, trying to calm his emotions.

He needed to know her true thoughts, why she didn't want it, whether she was under psychological pressure, or feeling physically unwell.

But Lu Rang couldn't ask directly, for fear of putting pressure on Shang Wu and hearing an answer he didn't want to hear.

After a while, Lu Rang composed himself and returned to the ward.

Lu You was peeling fruit, while Shang Wu leaned against the headboard, her eyes vacant, lost in thought.

Lu Rang walked to the bedside and sat down, holding Shang Wu's hand, his tone as natural as if he were just mentioning it casually.

“Awu, I just consulted a doctor. The doctor said that you have experienced too much fright recently, and with the medication, although your physical indicators are recovering, it may have some potential effects on your nerves.”

Shang Wu and Lu You both looked at him in confusion, not understanding why he suddenly said this.

Lu Rang continued, "I discussed it with the doctor, and we think it's best if we do a more comprehensive examination. In addition to a routine physical examination, we'll add an in-depth psychological assessment and a brain MRI, so that we can be completely at ease."

Shang Wu was completely stunned. She blinked and said, "Psychological evaluation and brain MRI? Isn't that unnecessary? I don't think I have any psychological problems."

She just has something on her mind.

Lu You also looked puzzled: "A-Rang, why did you suddenly think of checking these things? Did the doctor say so? Which doctor?"

She suspected that her brother knew something and was using this indirect method to test her.

Lu Rang remained calm, his tone still gentle yet carrying an undeniable insistence.

"It's better to be safe than sorry. This incident was too dangerous. I don't want you to have any lasting effects. A full check-up will put everyone at ease. I've already asked my assistant to schedule the check-up for tomorrow morning. It will be quick and not tiring."

His words were impeccable, as if they were spoken without any ulterior motive.

But when Shang Wu looked into his eyes, she always felt that there was something else hidden beneath his gaze.

Shang Wu's mind was in turmoil because of her pregnancy, and she subconsciously touched her lower abdomen.

Was it because of the child? Did he guess that he was using this method to probe her psychological state and see if she was suitable to be a mother?

I still want to check if there is any brain damage, and whether it will affect the fetus.

Shang Wu was flustered and her face turned even paler.

“Okay,” she finally agreed.

Now that he had brought it up, she seemed to have no reason to refuse.

Lu You watched from the side, her mind perfectly clear.

She was almost certain that Lu Rang knew!

And why did this guy make Shang Wu get a medical checkup?

Lu You coughed lightly, seemingly unintentionally: "Lu wants you to come out with me for a moment."

Lu You frowned slightly, puzzled, but still followed her out.

As soon as she arrived outside the ward, Lu You put her hands on her hips.

"What are you doing? Forcing Shang Wu to get a medical checkup? What's wrong with her mentally or emotionally? Don't go too far!"

Lu Rang stared at her intently, narrowing his eyes. "You already know, don't you? Shang Wu is pregnant."

When he asked this question out of the blue, Lu You's expression changed.

She immediately regained her composure: "Are you out of your mind? How could Shang Wu be pregnant? That's impossible!"
