The caller ID showed Lu You.
Shang Wu picked up his phone and answered the call.
Before he could even speak, Lu You's heavily intoxicated voice came from the other end. The background noise was loud music.
"Hey, Ah Wu..."
Lu You let out a hiccup, her voice slurred, "Tell me, should I tell Dad about your pregnancy...?"
Shang Wu's heart skipped a beat, and she immediately sat up straight, her tone becoming anxious.
"Sister You? Where are you? Have you been drinking? Why did you drink so much?"
"I didn't drink much, just a little bit..."
Lu You's voice trembled with tears, yet also sounded like a silly laugh, "I just... I just can't understand it. Why is it that Fu Mingyuan is so good, and that bastard Cheng Zhou is going to marry him off, why am I still..."
She didn't finish her sentence, but the meaning couldn't be clearer.
Shang Wu was a little anxious. "Sister You, don't think about it for now. Just tell me where you are, and I'll have Lu Rang come pick you up."
"No, no need!"
Lu You immediately refused, raising her voice, "I can go back by myself. I've already arranged a driver. Don't tell A-Rang. Bye."
"Hello? Sister You?"
The call has been disconnected, leaving only a busy tone.
Shang Wu immediately looked at Lu Rang.
Lu Rang's face also darkened.
He took Shang Wu's phone and immediately called back.
The phone rang for a long time before being answered, and the background noise was still loud.
"Sister You, where are you? Send me your location." Lu Rang's voice carried a command.
"I told you it's none of your business..."
Lu You's voice was even more indistinct, almost as if she were falling asleep, "Fu, Fu Mingyuan went back a long time ago, I'll just have a drink by myself, it's fine..."
"Lu You," Lu Rang's voice rose, "Give the phone to someone next to you, and have the bartender or the designated driver answer it!"
"Ugh, you're so annoying. I'm hanging up. The designated driver is almost here."
Lu You muttered to herself and hung up the phone again.
When I called back, no one answered.
Lu Rang's face turned ugly, and he immediately got up to make a call to arrange for someone to go and look for him.
Shang Wu stopped him, her face showing an inscrutable expression, and shook her head.
"See? I knew it."
Lu Rang frowned: "What do you know?"
"I know that Sister You can't let go of Cheng Zhou at all."
Shang Wu sighed, "She's usually such a calm person, how could she suddenly go out drinking and talking nonsense? She's clearly upset because she saw Cheng Zhou with another woman at the restaurant today."
He offered his blessings, but inside he was heartbroken and could only drown his sorrows in alcohol.
She looked at Lu Rang's worried expression.
"Don't panic. Let's find her first and make sure she's safe."
Lu Rang nodded and went to arrange for someone to search.
Shang Wu felt a little relieved.
She leaned back on the sofa, her fingers unconsciously stroking her slightly protruding belly.
Another thought came to mind.
She looked up at Lu Rang beside her, whose brows were slightly furrowed, and spoke softly.
"Should we tell your father about our pregnancy?"
Lu Rang's brows furrowed even more, and his tone turned colder.
"Tell him what to do? There's no need."
Shang Wu knew that he harbored resentment towards Lu Zheng.
Back then, Lu Zheng tried every means to separate her from Lu Rang, even resorting to any drastic measures. Those hurts cannot be easily erased.
But after thinking about it, she gently advised, "I know you don't want to have too much to do with him, but he is, after all, your father and the child's grandfather. It doesn't seem appropriate to keep such a big thing from him."
"And he was probably worried about you too, he just wasn't expressing it the right way."
Lu Rang snorted coldly, unimpressed.
Seeing his resolute attitude, Shang Wu said no more and made a decision in secret.
While Lu Rang went to his study to handle his work, she quietly picked up her phone and found a number that she had almost never dialed during this period.
Lu Zheng's private phone call.
She took a deep breath and dialed the number.
The phone rang for a long time before being answered, and Lu Zheng's deep and slightly authoritative voice came from the other end.
"Hello?"
"It's me, Shang Wu." Shang Wu's voice was a little nervous.
There was a noticeable silence on the other end of the phone, as if they were quite surprised to receive her call.
A few seconds later, Lu Zheng's voice rang out again, his tone revealing neither joy nor anger.
"Is there something you need?"
"It's like this..."
Shang Wu gripped her phone tightly and said calmly, "I'm pregnant. I just found out recently and wanted to let you know."
After he finished speaking, there was an even longer silence on the other end of the phone.
Shang Wu thought the signal had been lost, or that Lu Zheng had already hung up the phone.
Just as she was about to ask for confirmation, Lu Zheng's voice finally came through, slightly hoarse.
"You're pregnant? How far along are you?"
"It's been more than five weeks."
Shang Wu replied.
Another silence followed.
Lu Zheng's voice rang out again, this time with a cautious, probing tone: "How are you feeling? Are you alright? Can I... come see you?"
Shang Wu's heart skipped a beat. She hadn't expected Lu Zheng to make this request.
She hesitated, her fingers tightening slightly as she gripped the phone.
Shang Wu explained, "I'm in good health. Lu Rang is taking good care of me. If you come this time, it's still like before, trying to interfere in our lives..."
She paused, her tone turning cold: "Then you're not just hurting us, but also your unborn grandson. I hope you're genuinely just here to visit, and not for some other purpose."
Lu Zheng on the other end of the phone seemed stunned by Shang Wu's words.
