A cold, triumphant smile appeared on his face.
The heavy slam of the door closing sounded like a final judgment.
Lu Rang stood frozen in the center of the living room, his blood running cold.
He cannot leave.
We absolutely cannot leave like this.
If he turned around now, it would truly be the end between him and Shang Wu.
"A-Wu!"
He rushed to the door and pounded on the solid wooden door.
"Open the door!"
"Let me explain!"
"That's all her side of the story! It's a frame-up!"
There was deathly silence inside the door.
There was no response.
It was as if no one was inside.
He just screamed in vain like a madman.
Lu Zheng stepped forward and placed his aged but strong hand on his son's shoulder.
"Lu Rang".
The old man's voice was deep and carried an unquestionable authority.
"Calm down."
"She won't listen to anything you say now."
"Leave first."
"Give her some peace and quiet."
Lu Rang abruptly shook off his father's hand, his eyes red-rimmed.
"Let's have some peace and quiet?"
"I didn't do anything! How can you expect me to stay calm?!"
"My leaving is tantamount to admitting defeat!"
Lu Zheng's gaze was as sharp as an eagle's, but his voice was unusually calm.
"If you don't leave, keep causing trouble here."
"It will only push her further away."
"The truth cannot be shouted out."
Lu Rang felt as if all his strength had been drained away. He took a step back dejectedly and leaned against the cold wall.
He closed his eyes in pain.
Shang Wu's cold, tired, and emotionless eyes kept replaying in his mind.
It hurt him more than any angry accusation.
His gaze suddenly shot towards Lin Ruan, who stood in the center of the living room, looking completely indifferent.
Rage and humiliation instantly overwhelmed reason.
He pulled out his phone, his voice as cold as if it came from hell.
"Someone come here!"
"Throw this woman into Wanhu Lake!"
"Let her wake up!"
The Yu family's bodyguards entered in response and walked towards Lin Ruan with expressionless faces.
A flicker of panic crossed Lin Ruan's face, but it was quickly replaced by an almost frantic resolve.
Instead of backing down, she took a step forward and sticked out her belly, which was barely visible.
"OK!"
"Attorney Lu, go ahead and do it!"
"I don't care about the two lives lost!"
She stared at Lu Rang, a malicious smile curling at the corners of her lips.
"But if you silence me, will Miss Shang believe you?"
"She'll just think you're guilty!"
"I'll only hate you more!"
These words were like a bucket of ice water poured over Lu Rang's head.
He waved to stop the bodyguard.

If Lin Ruan "accidentally" disappeared, wouldn't that confirm A Wu's crime?
He was speechless and unable to defend himself.
A tremendous sense of grievance and helplessness overwhelmed him.
He loved her so much.
He loved her with all his might, even at the cost of the pain of losing his child, just to save her life.
How could she not believe him?
How could she not know that he would never betray her?
Lu Rang leaned against the wall, tilted his head back, took a deep breath, and tried to suppress the stinging in his eyes.
We must not act rashly.
He must remain calm.
He looked at Lin Ruan, his eyes regaining the coldness and sharpness of a business elite.
"Keep an eye on her."
"Without my permission, she is not allowed to leave the Yu family home, nor is she allowed to contact anyone."
The bodyguards responded and led Lin Ruan away from the living room, keeping a close watch on her.
Lu Rang turned to Lu Zheng, his tone urgent.
"Contact the best doctors, obstetricians, and genetic testing experts!"
"Ask them if there's any way to identify the father of the child in her womb right now, immediately!"
"No matter how much money it costs, or what method you use!"
He couldn't wait another three months.
We can't wait even a day longer!
Lu Zheng sighed deeply as he watched his son nearly lose control.
"I'll go ask right away."
"But you need to be prepared, with current technology..."
Lu interrupted impatiently.
Go ask!
What he needs now is action, not possibility.
Just when the Lu family father and son were in a state of utter distress.
Lu You rushed to the Yu family's house.
She had clearly heard the rumors; her face was filled with shock and worry.
"Little brother, what exactly happened?"
“That Lin Ruan…”
Her words trailed off when she saw Lu Rang's bloodshot eyes and defeated expression.
Lu Zheng briefly explained the situation.
Lu You gasped.
"How is this possible!"
She immediately looked at the tightly closed door on the second floor.
"I'll go check on A-Wu."
She hurried upstairs and gently knocked on the door.
“Awu, it’s me, Lu You.”
There was still no response from inside.
Lu You twisted the doorknob again, still feeling uneasy.
The door wasn't locked from the inside.
She pushed the door open and went in.
Shang Wu sat on the sofa by the window, hugging her knees, gazing at the gray sky outside.
His slender figure conveyed a sense of desolate loneliness.
Lu You felt a sharp pain in her heart.
She walked over, gently sat down next to Shang Wu, and took her cold hand in hers.
“A-Wu”.
Shang Wu neither turned back nor withdrew her hand.
Like a soulless sculpture.
Lu You said softly:
I know you're feeling very upset and confused right now.
“But I can guarantee with my integrity that Lu would never do such a thing.”
"You've been with him for so long, you should know him well."
