Chapter 42 A Three-Way Battle

Shang Wu gripped her phone tightly and glanced at Lu Rang.

"Um... why don't you go upstairs and hide for a bit?"

Lu Rang said calmly, "Okay."

Shang Wu breathed a sigh of relief.

Lu Rang calmly buttoned up his suit collar: "If you don't sign the contract now, don't even think about getting me to sign it later."

"Wait! Don't be angry." Shang Wu pulled him back.

At the same time, Zhou Yanci's car outside also stopped.

Lu Rang glanced at her, then grabbed Shang Wu's wrist: "We'll meet sooner or later, why are you hiding?"

Shang Wu pursed her lips and turned to the side: "Let's sit in the living room."

She turned around and went to the kitchen to pour two cups of tea.

Just as Lu Rang said, Zhou Yanci would find out sooner or later.

Even if she didn't know it in her plan, she had no choice but to bite the bullet and deal with it.

The moment that thought crossed my mind, the door opened.

When Zhou Yanci entered, she had a smile on her face: "Awu, you..."

Before he could finish speaking, he suddenly saw a stranger sitting on the sofa.

Lu Rang leaned back on the sofa, his well-defined knuckles holding the documents in a languid posture.

He narrowed his eyes slightly when he saw Zhou Yanci approaching.

Zhou Yanci frowned and walked step by step to him.

The image that flashed through his mind was Shang Wu staring at the handsome man going upstairs at the charity event.

The man who suddenly made him so jealous is now right in front of him.

Zhou Yanci stared intently at Lu Rang: "Who are you?"

"Let me introduce you. This is Lu Rang, Dingfeng's top lawyer. You should know him, right? He's the president of Chengzhou Group, so I don't need to introduce him."

Shang Wu put down her teacup, a slight smile playing on her lips, and inexplicably nervously clenched her sleeves.

Lu Rang looked up, without getting up to shake hands with Zhou Yanci: "President Zhou is a very famous person, of course I know him."

"Really? But I've only heard of Dingfeng, not Attorney Lu. It seems that although Attorney Lu is Dingfeng's ace, he hasn't handled any famous cases." Zhou Yanci raised an eyebrow slightly, his tone carrying a hint of sarcasm.

Lu Rang swirled his teacup and said calmly, "Isn't liking to handle famous cases just a way to show off and boost popularity? That's Jinshui's style, I can't learn it."

Shang Wu glanced at him, then looked away, somewhat surprised.

She thought Lu Rang would remain calm and pretend not to understand what she was saying, ignoring Zhou Yanci's provocation.

Fine, she's the type who can't stand being wronged.

Shang Wu smiled slightly, easing the atmosphere: "Yan Ci, why don't you sit down first? I'm about to sign a contract with Attorney Lu to have him as my legal advisor from now on."

“Him?” Zhou Yanci frowned deeply.

Shang Wu nodded: "Yes, all things considered, Attorney Lu's abilities are indeed top-notch at Dingfeng."

She glanced at Lu Rang: "Our contract has already gone through the formalities."

The implication is that the person cannot be replaced easily.

Upon hearing this, Zhou Yanci narrowed her eyes and stared intently at Lu Rang.

After a few seconds, he smiled and suddenly put his arm around Shang Wu's slender waist: "Baby, you have a good eye. Since you chose Attorney Lu, I naturally trust you too. But, didn't you forget to say something just now?"

Shang Wu's body stiffened slightly.

Lu Rang gripped the teacup tightly, staring at the tea leaves that bobbed up and down inside, without looking up.

Shang Wu asked with a smile, "Did I forget what I said?"

"Silly girl." Zhou Yanci raised her hand and tucked a stray hair behind her ear. "When I'm by your side in the future, don't introduce me to others as some kind of CEO of Chengzhou. In front of you, I'm just your fiancé, the man you're going to marry in this lifetime."

His gaze was focused and he stared at Shang Wu with deep affection, as if the woman in front of him was the only woman in the world who could catch his eye.

Shang Wu felt like vomiting, but she resisted the urge to push him away: "...Okay, I'll tell you later."

"That's more like it." Zhou Yanci leaned in to kiss her forehead.

Suddenly, a crisp sound of glass colliding rang out.

Lu Rang loosened his grip, and the teacup fell onto the table, with hot water gushing out of its rim towards Zhou Yanci.

A few drops of hot water splashed onto Zhou Yanci's legs, and the scalding heat could be felt even through her trousers.

He immediately got up and released Shang Wu.

Shang Wu quickly stepped back: "It's alright, it's alright, I'll go get the mop, don't get burned."

Lu Rang then stood up, casually saying, "I'm sorry, Mr. Zhou, I didn't mean to."

His tone was strained, and he didn't seem genuinely apologetic.

Zhou Yanci scoffed lightly, approaching Lu Rang step by step: "Lawyer Lu seems to disapprove of me being close to my fiancée?"

Lu Rang met his gaze, a hint of coldness in his otherwise indifferent eyes: "I told you I didn't mean it. I don't know how I could have made President Zhou think that way?"

His eyes were churning with dark undercurrents. "Or is it that President Zhou thinks too highly of me, believing that my interactions with her are worth the three years I spent with you?"

Zhou Yanci's expression froze for a moment, then she subconsciously snorted coldly, "You're not qualified to be compared to me!"

Lu Rang laughed instead of getting angry, and asked unhurriedly, "So what is President Zhou doing now?"

Zhou Yanci was speechless, anger burning in his eyes. It was the first time he had clashed with someone else, and he felt a sense of frustration that he couldn't vent.

He clenched his fist, about to speak again, when Shang Wu rushed over with a towel and mop.

"Yanci, are you alright?"

Zhou Yanci was very satisfied with her proactive concern and ignoring Lu Rang, and smiled happily: "I got burned, and it still hurts a little. What should I do, Awu?"

"Then I'll have Xiao Dong bring over a pair of pants."

Shang Wu picked up her phone and smiled apologetically at Lu Rang: "Attorney Lu, I've already signed the contract. You can take it. It's not convenient for me to entertain you today."

Lu Rang pursed his lips and didn't move, staring at her with a cold glint in his dark eyes.
