Chapter 91 Uncontrolled Kiss Inside the Car

The sports car emitted a deep hum as it sped past the restaurant door.

Liu Ziye stood there, stunned, his mouth agape: "What's going on?"

Inside the car.

Shang Wu looked at Lu Rang and asked, "What's going on? Why did you suddenly change cars?"

Lu Rang replied calmly, "Didn't you want to take a ride in a sports car? I'll grant your wish."

Shang Wu was a little confused.

She belatedly realized the joke Liu Ziye had casually made in the office.

Just because she agreed to ride in Liu Ziye's sports car, Lu Rang switched to a limited edition supercar?

He couldn't possibly be jealous.

Shang Wu looked at Lu Rang for a long time before finally saying, "Lu Rang."

"Um."

"Actually, I don't really want to go for a drive."

Lu Rang glanced at her: "Why?"

Shang Wu huddled in the passenger seat, her cheeks numb from the cold: "It's only three degrees now, and besides, you forgot to close the window..."

Lu Rang almost stepped on the accelerator instead of the brake.

He closed the window, parked the car on the side of the road, and a rare hint of helplessness appeared on his usually calm and handsome face as he wrapped the men's scarf next to the seat around Shang Wu's neck.

Shang Wu blinked, looking puzzled. "How come you're so rich? Lu Rang, which family's young master are you? I've never heard of you before."

Lu Rang: "Guess."

Shang Wu snorted: "I won't guess. Anyway, no matter which family's young master it is, you will have to arrange a marriage. In big families, you can never escape this path of exchanging interests."

Lu Rang looked at her and said, "Yes, I'm no exception."

Shang Wu couldn't help but ask, "Have you found a marriage partner yet?"

"Um."

Which company is it?

Lu Rang's gaze turned serious as he stared at her.

Shang Wu quickly looked away, saying awkwardly, "I was just gossiping."

Lu Rang kept staring at her and said slowly and deliberately, "I can't reveal it. When the time is right, I will ask the woman for her opinion. Marriage is a matter of mutual consent."

Shang Wu's eyes flickered: "I see."

She felt a pang of sadness and wanted to ask if he could please not marry anyone else.

But Qianjue said that Lu Rang gave up his career as a lawyer for her sake in order to become the Chief Censor of the Censorate.

They've sacrificed so much for the common goal of the business case that she can't selfishly ask them to stay.

The two fell silent.

Shang Wu felt down and yawned, "I'm sleepy, take me home."

Lu Rang watched her close her eyes, his gaze becoming direct and intense.

He stared at Shang Wu for a few seconds, then stepped on the gas.

I arrived home in fifteen minutes.

Lu Rang stopped the car and turned off the engine. Seeing that Shang Wu was still asleep with her eyes closed, he leaned over and helped her unbuckle her seatbelt.

We're closer now.

He caught a faint whiff of jasmine from Shang Wu's hair.

Lu Rang slowly turned his head, his gaze sweeping over Shang Wu's eyebrows and eyes, and landing on her slightly moving lips.

His throat bobbed, and just as he was about to press his lips against Shang Wu's, he restrained himself and instead placed his kiss on her cool forehead.

Just as he was about to straighten up, a slender arm suddenly hooked around his lower back.

The next second, Shang Wu lightly kissed Lu Rang's lips, then withdrew immediately, her watery eyes reflecting his suddenly contracting pupils.

“Lawyer Lu”.

Her voice held a hint of emotion: "You have a marriage prospect in mind, yet you still kiss me?"

Lu Rang's eyes were deep and unfathomable, filled with emotions that were hard to describe.

He gripped the back of Shang Wu's neck, his fingertips sinking into her soft hair, and spoke through his disordered breathing: "The one I've set my sights on is already sitting in the passenger seat."

Shang Wu was stunned.

Like Pandora's box being opened, restrained probing turned into boldly tasting forbidden fruit, and the threads of reason crumbled in the mind.

The scalding breath landed on the corner of her lips. Shang Wu closed her eyes and grabbed Lu Rang's sleeve tightly until the silver cufflink was torn off and imprinted on her palm.

"Ding ding ding—"

A sudden cell phone ring interrupted the argument inside the car.

Shang Wu woke up with a start and reached for her phone in her pocket.

Lu Rang turned his head, pulled her into his arms, and reached into the other side of her coat to take out her phone.

The two were very close, their breaths mingling.

They both looked down and saw the three characters "Zhou Yanci".

Shang Wu frowned slightly and pushed Lu Rang off her.

Lu Rang pursed his lips, a hint of displeasure flashing in his eyes, but he kept her locked in his arms, refusing to move.

Shang Wu had no choice but to lean on him to answer the phone.

Zhou Yanci's low, suppressed voice came from the phone.

Where are you?

For a moment, Shang Wu almost thought that Zhou Yanci was nearby and had stumbled upon her kissing Lu Rang.

She glanced out the window and calmly asked, "At home? What's wrong?"

Zhou Yanci took a deep breath: "Come to the hospital immediately."

The phone went dead with a beep.

Shang Wu tightened her grip on the phone with her fingers and slowly exhaled.

Lu Rang lowered his eyes and stared at her.

Shang Wu leaned back slightly, raised an eyebrow and looked him in the eye: "Lawyer Lu, kissing someone else's fiancée is not a glorious thing."

Lu Rang reached out and brushed his thumb across the glistening moisture on her lips: "It doesn't matter."

He grasped Shang Wu's cold fingertips; beneath his rationality lay an endless possessiveness.

"By the end of this month, I will investigate the merchant's case for you, and you should resolve it as soon as possible."

Shang Wu smiled and asked, "And then?"

Lu Rang swallowed hard and said, slowly and deliberately, "Then, consider me."

...

Hospital.

When Shang Wu rushed over, she touched up her lipstick in the elevator. Thinking about what happened in the car, her already burning cheeks felt even hotter.

She exhaled, calmed herself down, and stepped out of the elevator. As soon as she reached the door of the ward, she heard crying coming from inside.

"It's gone, Ah Ci, our child is gone..."
