Some were observing, while others were watching the spectacle unfold.
The people present were all Zhou Yanci's close friends, and their families' businesses were also linked to Chengzhou Group.
On the surface, they warmly called Shang Wu "sister-in-law," but in reality, they all blindly followed Zhou's words.
When Shang Wu saw the text message, she knew that these people had long understood the place Zhou Yanci held in her heart.
Everyone was keeping it from her, treating her like a tool along with Zhou Yanci.
Zhou Yanci clenched her fists, her expression cold, and scoffed, "Miss Chen actually loved me? How strange!"
Tears fell from her eyes as she slept.
Zhou Yanci chose to ignore it and looked away: "I can't do something like helping my ex-girlfriend, and I don't want A-Wu to be unhappy. You should find someone else."
He pulled Shang Wu to sit down.
She bit her lip, swaying precariously.
Zhou Yanci seemed oblivious to her presence. After sitting down, she prepared Shang Wu's favorite drink.
Shang Wu watched as he replaced cherry juice with strawberry juice, her eyes darkening slightly.
Zhou Yanci handed it to her, chuckling indulgently, "Cherry wine, you've always loved it. Your period is coming soon, so please don't drink it with ice, okay?"
His gaze remained affectionate, yet it seemed as if he were looking through Shang Wu at others.
Shang Wu took the wine and was about to drink it when Chen Mian suddenly leaned over and stepped in front of her.
“Miss Shang, there’s nothing between me and A-Ci. I really only came here today because I had to ask him for a favor. Please, please be lenient with me.”
She grabbed Shang Wu's wrist.
The wine glass swayed, Shang Wu gripped it tightly, and said with a half-smile, "If Yan Ci doesn't want to help, what can I do?"
Zhou Yanci's eyes flickered: "Awu, whether you help me or not, I'll listen to you."
A hurt flashed in Shenmian's eyes, her face full of bitterness: "Look, he loves you so much. If you just ask, he'll definitely be willing to help."
The two pulled and tugged at each other.
One wanted to help but was too proud to admit it, and was certain that Shang Wu would be understanding and help plead on their behalf.
One side retreated in an attempt to probe whether the other still harbored any lingering feelings, putting Shang Wu in a precarious position.
Shang Wu seemed to be deep in thought, swirling his wine glass.
Zhou Yanci calmly took a sip of wine and glanced at Gu Ziqian, who was not far away.
Gu Ziqian understood immediately: "Sister-in-law, look how pitiful Chenmian is, please help her! She and Yanci are both fine now."
Others echoed this sentiment.
Everyone, openly and secretly, was pressuring Shang Wu to be more "considerate and generous".
Shang Wu raised her eyes, seemingly oblivious to everyone's thoughts, and chuckled, "I'm sorry, Miss Shen, I don't want to help you with words, I'll get jealous."
The two of them were stunned at the same time.
"I didn't expect Miss Shang to mind my presence so much. Never mind, I don't want to affect your relationship." Chen Mian's eyes were red as she awkwardly got up and tried to run away.
Zhou Yanci felt anxious and stood up to chase after him.
A leisurely voice sounded from behind.
"Miss Shen, I haven't finished speaking yet."
Chenmian paused, turned around with teary eyes, and choked out, "I understand what Miss Shang means. Don't worry, I won't trouble Aci even if I'm homeless. Is there anything else you want to say?"
Shang Wu got up and walked towards her.
Seeing her aggressive demeanor, Zhou Yanci felt a slight tightness in her chest and involuntarily followed her.
Shang Wu walked up to Chen Mian and suddenly raised his hand.
In a deep sleep, he subconsciously turned his head and closed his eyes.
"Don't hit her!" Zhou Yanci shouted in a low voice, his voice filled with worry and warning, and without thinking, he gripped Shang Wu's wrist tightly.
Then, he saw the bank card in Shang Wu's hand and froze.
Shang Wu was taken aback: "I just wanted to give Miss Chen some money so she could rent a hotel room without having to worry about finding a place or putting you in a difficult position. What are you doing?"
Upon hearing this, Zhou Yanci reacted as if she had been burned, and helplessly let go of her.
"I'm sorry, I... I thought..."
"Alright, don't say anything." Shang Wu handed the bank card to Chen Mian, rubbed her reddened wrist, and went back to the sofa to get her bag.
Zhou Yanci blocked the door to the private room, looking down at her nervously: "Awu, don't be angry."
Shang Wu gave him a deep look.
"The drinks you made are really delicious."
She pushed Zhou Yanci away and left without looking back.
Chenmian slightly curled her lips, revealing a triumphant smile.
She recalled the scene of Zhou Yanci warning Shang Wu and protecting her: "Aci, you still care about me, don't you?"
Zhou Yanci felt inexplicably irritable.
He clearly knew that Chen Mian had nowhere to stay, but he deliberately came to see her.
But now that Shang Wu is gone, he feels a void in his heart and a sense of unease.
Zhou Yanci ignored Chen Mian, walked to the table, picked up Shang Wu's bag, saw the wine she had placed on the table, her gaze lingered for a moment, and she picked it up and took a sip.
It's strawberry flavored.
