After the car had driven some distance from the apartment, Shang Yun Shen finally glanced at Lu Rang.
Before he could speak, Lu Rang said, "Just say what you have to say."
"I want to ask, is your mental illness curable?"
Lu Rang was taken aback.
The driver in front couldn't help but turn around to look.
Shang Yunshen said frankly, "Don't blame me for speaking harshly, I'm doing this for my sister's sake. Our whole family knows about your illness, and my mother has also heard some secrets about your Yu family, which makes her even more dislike you."
“I think there’s a misunderstanding between you and your brother, but I can’t help but care about your mental illness. I don’t want my sister to marry a mentally ill person, and I certainly don’t want your illness to be passed on to your future children.”
"So please give me a definite answer: can your illness be cured or not?"
Lu Rang's eyes flickered, and he clenched his fists.
He remained silent for a long time before saying, "I can't say for sure whether this illness will get better. It stems from my psychological trauma and the trauma I suffered in the past."
"What kind of trauma?" Shang Yunshen pressed.
Lu Rang's fingertips trembled. His eyes subtly changed, a storm of unfathomable turmoil brewing within them.
Shang Yun Shen was completely unaware of this.
He urged, "Tell me, what kind of psychological trauma is it? Actually, I studied psychology in college. If you can, you can tell me about it."
"If I can help you, it will be a way of repaying the kindness you showed me in helping the business."
Lu Rang clenched his fists. The veins on the back of his hands were already bulging.
He glanced at Shang Yun Shen without making a sound.
"You don't need to worry about this."
Hearing his somewhat unhappy tone, Shang Yun Shen didn't say anything more.
"Alright, since you won't tell me, I won't force you. But I still want to remind you that if you're sick, you should get treatment as soon as possible and get proper treatment. Otherwise, my family won't accept you."
Lu Rang kept his head down and remained silent, making it impossible to tell what he was thinking.
Shang Yun Shen was still talking to himself.
“My father is recuperating in a sanatorium and doesn’t know about this yet. If he comes back, he definitely won’t agree to his daughter being with someone like you.”
The driver glanced at Lu Rang several times in the rearview mirror and noticed that Lu Rang's expression was very strange, so he immediately coughed to interrupt.
“Mr. Shang, I think you shouldn’t bring up this issue so often. What’s your address? I’ll take you there.”
Shang Yunshen glanced at Lu Rang subtly and nodded.
He politely said, "The villa area is at the next intersection on the left. Thank you."
The driver nodded slightly, but his gaze remained fixed on Lu Rang.
There was something indescribable in Lu Rang's deep, ink-black eyes.
He turned to look out the window, without saying a word.
The driver sensed something was wrong and quickly stepped on the gas, speeding up to take Shang Yun Shen away and drop him off at the villa entrance.
After everyone got off the car, Lu Rang finally gripped the handlebars, a layer of cold sweat appearing on his forehead.
He said in a deep voice, "Go, take me back."
...
The next day.
Shang Wu was still uneasy and decided to go to the Shang Group to meet Lu Wuwei in person.
She rushed to the company early in the morning, worried that Lu Rang might overthink things because of what his brother said last night, so she sent him several messages.
My brother is just like that; he's always very worried about me, which is why he's a little uneasy about you. But don't take it to heart; he didn't mean to offend you.
Are you alright? Don't overthink it. I came to see you at noon today because I know of a newly opened restaurant that's really delicious.
She sent several messages, but Lu Rang did not reply.
Shang Wu glanced at the time.
At this hour, Lu Rang couldn't possibly still be asleep.
Perhaps it was something that happened yesterday that still made him a little unhappy.
Shang Wu thought about it and decided to go see him at noon.
After putting her phone away, she went straight upstairs to the legal department.
The legal department staff were busy eating breakfast and chatting. It wasn't time for work yet, and everyone was sitting very casually.
As soon as they noticed Shang Wu's arrival, everyone quickly put down their breakfasts or other items and stood up to greet her.
"Hello, Mr. Shang!"
Shang Wu put his index finger to his lips, making a shushing gesture.
"From now on, please call me Miss Shang. I have already left the company. Your current president is my brother, Shang Yun Shen. We should keep our titles separate."
Everyone nodded vigorously and changed their address to "Miss".
Shang Wu glanced around and raised an eyebrow, saying, "I heard that a lawyer named Lu Wuwei came to the legal department first. Where is he?"
Upon hearing this, the head of the legal department raised his hand.
"He hasn't arrived yet; he'll be here to report for duty this afternoon."
"Yeah?"
Shang Wu raised her hand: "Bring me his resume so I can take a look."
The supervisor quickly handed the resume to her.
Shang Wu glanced down at it, her eyes filled with a hint of coldness.
She really didn't expect that Lu Wuwei, who had been sent to prison by Zhou Yanci, had a clean resume with no record of imprisonment.
It seems he used some method to escape back then.
No wonder he's a lawyer.
Shang Wu looked through the resume over and over again.
"When he applied for the job, you went with him to the HR department for the interview, right? Did you ask him why he wanted to join the group?"
The supervisor nodded.
"I asked him, and he said he insisted on joining the legal department because the president of the Shang Group was his former client, and he trusted the company under this client's management very much."
