"I came to see you because I was worried about you."
Shang Wu stood beside Lu Rang, looking at the woman on the tombstone.
Lu Rang pursed his lips and remained silent, clearly feeling down.
After a long silence, he finally spoke: "In my mother's will, she said that she wanted to be buried at sea, or to choose the most ordinary burial plot, one that even the rest of the Yu family wouldn't know about."
“But my maternal grandfather and father disagreed. They were still afraid of losing face for the Yu family, so they sent my mother here.”
Shang Wu sighed softly.
A burial plot here costs several million.
She didn't understand why someone who had passed away would still spend so much money in such a place.
Is the reputation of the Yu family more important than the last wish of the Yu family's daughter?
No one has ever respected Yu Ruyun, never.
Her dream of making movies, her child, and her husband with whom she has poor communication skills and feelings but cannot understand each other.
Oh, and there's also her best friend, whom she trusted unconditionally, but who ultimately sabotaged things.
This best friend is her mother.
Shang Wu felt like she couldn't breathe again.
She felt that everything was fake.
A gentle and kind mother who would never even step on an ant.
A steady, family-loving, and cultured father.
Are the parents she once respected, loved, and fought for really as they are, as she found out and saw?
"It's a pity that Aunt Yu passed away so early, otherwise I would definitely have gotten along with her. I've watched several movies that she liked to watch many times."
"Maybe I can talk to her about ideals, about film aesthetics, about...you."
Shang Wu couldn't help but hug Lu Rang, gently leaning on his shoulder, feeling an indescribable sense of oppression and discomfort in her heart.
Will you blame me?
Lu Rang hugged her and soothed her by smoothing her long hair.
"I have no reason to blame you, don't overthink it."
Shang Wu looked up at him.
Lu Rang's eyes flickered, avoiding her gaze as if he were hiding from something. He turned his head and kissed her lips.
"Let's go, it's cold here, don't catch a cold."
He pulled Shang Wu along and turned to leave.
Watching his retreating figure, Shang Wu felt a tightness in her chest and let him pull her along.
She realized what Lu Rang's action just now meant.
Her eyes look just like Ruan Yuzhi's; they're practically identical.
Lu Rang couldn't bear to look into those eyes; they reminded him of those past events.
Shang Wu bit her lip and followed Lu Rang into the car, looking utterly dejected.
She didn't speak, but turned to look out the window and closed her eyes to rest.
The seatbelt wasn't fastened, so Lu Rang leaned over and fastened it for her.
Shang Wu smelled the clean, warm, faint woody scent emanating from him.
She felt inexplicably insecure and couldn't help but ask, "Lu Rang, you'll stay with me, right?"
Lu Rang held her hand and drove with one hand: "You've been overthinking all day. There won't be any obstacles between us in the future, so of course we'll be together."
Shang Wu didn't say anything, but just kept staring at his superior profile.
There will be no obstacles.
But what about the fact that her parents took over Lu Zheng Company, that Ruan Yuzhi caused a change in Lu Rang's parents' relationship, and that Lu Rang's mother even developed depression?
If Lu Rang truly didn't care, he wouldn't have avoided her gaze.
Shang Wu's mind was in turmoil. Just as she was thinking, her phone rang.
She took it out, glanced at it, and paused.
Noticing that something was wrong with her reaction, Lu Rang also glanced at her and paused for a moment, just like her.
The caller ID displayed only one word: Dad.
Shang Wu's eyes flickered, but she still answered the phone: "Hello."
“I’ve heard about what’s going on outside. Come to the sanatorium. I’ll wait for you here, and we can talk.”
Shang Lingfei's tone was low, and he sounded unhappy.
Too.
While receiving treatment at the sanatorium, she was completely unaware of what was happening when she suddenly heard that her daughter had seized control of the company, broken ties with her family, and resolutely married the man that Ruan Yuzhi had opposed to the end.
She would be shocked too, and would want to meet with him immediately to get to the bottom of things.
That's fine.
Some things can be resolved.
Shang Wu said calmly, "Okay, I'll go there right away."
After hanging up the phone, she looked at Lu Rang and said, "Take me to the sanatorium."
Lu Rang turned around and asked, "Do you need me to come with you?"
"No need, I can handle some things myself."
Shang Wu resolutely refused, her eyes filled with unwavering determination to face the storm.
She was unusually tense, and didn't exhale until she reached the entrance of the sanatorium.
Lu Rang unbuckled her seatbelt and said softly, "I'll wait for you here. Call me if anything happens."
Shang Wu nodded, took two steps, then stopped and kissed Lu Rang's lips.
Then she went into the sanatorium without looking back.
Shang Lingfei's health is already very poor because of the poisoning he received from Zhou Yanci.
These days he's been staying at the sanatorium to detoxify and is actively cooperating with the treatment; his complexion is no longer so weak and pale.
He nodded slightly when he saw Shang Wu approaching.
"You've arrived, please sit down."
Shang Wu sat down opposite him: "I believe you have heard that your wife opposes my marriage to Lu Rang and is determined to sever ties with him. No matter what you want to ask me next, I can tell you clearly that no one can make me leave Lu Rang."
“You’re wrong. Being with him was your choice. You’re an adult now, you should make your own decisions and take responsibility for them.” Shang Lingfei appeared very calm and wise.
Even sitting on his hospital bed, he still maintained a refined and scholarly demeanor.
Looking at him, Shang Wu thought of Shang Yun Shen, whose elegant and noble demeanor was exactly like her father's.
