Lu Yuwu saw Jin Ting leaning against the door frame in the mirror, arms crossed, a fake smile on her face.
She ignored it, turned on the tap, and prepared to wash her hands.
Jin Ting, however, relentlessly approached, her voice low and laced with malice.
"What's wrong? Feeling bad after being outdone? Well, besides relying on your parents, what else do you have to offer?"
"Even though Brother Lian Yan liked you so much, didn't he still dislike you and leave you in the end?"
Lu Yuwu abruptly stopped washing her hands, the water gushing out.
Seeing her silence, Jin Ting thought she had hit a sore spot and became even more smug.
"If I were you, I would be too ashamed to show my face in public. I don't know what your boyfriend sees in you. Is it just because your family is rich?"
"Oh, right, you didn't know, did you? Last night, Brother Yan got drunk, and I went to pick him up. He leaned on me, he was so dependent on me..."
Snap!
A crisp, loud slap interrupted Jin Ting's unfinished words.
Lu Yuwu turned around, her chest heaving violently, her hands, which were still wet from washing her hands, trembling slightly.
She looked at Jin Ting's instantly swollen cheeks and incredulous eyes, her voice cold and filled with suppressed anger.
"Jin Ting, I warned you not to mess with me. This slap is to teach you a lesson about boundaries!"
Jin Ting covered her face, her eyes instantly reddening, and tears welled up.
She pointed at Lu Yuwu, her voice trembling with tears: "You dare hit me! You just wait!"
After saying that, Jin Ting ran out of the bathroom crying, as if she had suffered a great injustice.
Looking at her bright eyes in the mirror, Lu Yuwu took a few deep breaths to calm her racing heart.
She realized she had acted impulsively.
Trouble may be brewing.
Sure enough, not long after she got home, Shang Wu found her with a serious expression.
"Xiaowu, the Fu family just called and said that Jin Ting has been crying ever since she got home, saying that you hit her. What exactly happened?"
Lu Yuwu pursed her lips and didn't hide anything: "She provoked me first in the bathroom and said some very rude things."
Looking at her daughter's stubborn yet aggrieved eyes, Shang Wu understood seven or eight parts of the situation.
She put her arm around her daughter's shoulder and said firmly, "Come on, Mom will go with you. No matter what, it's wrong to resort to violence, but I will never stand for anyone who deliberately bullies my daughter."
Lu Rang was also summoned by Shang Wu.
After hearing what had happened, his expression remained calm, but his eyes were sharp.
"Let's go to the Fu family together. Let's clear things up."
In the car, Shang Wu gently held her daughter's hand and asked in a low voice, "What did she say?"
Lu Yuwu turned her face away, looking at the rapidly receding night view outside the window, her voice a little hoarse.
"It's nothing, just some unpleasant words."
She didn't want to repeat what happened to Fu Yan.
Lu Rang glanced at his daughter in the rearview mirror and said calmly, "No matter what she said, resorting to violence is ultimately a bad move. However, since she provoked us first, your father and I will stand up for you."
The car quickly drove into the Fu family villa.
The atmosphere in the living room was somewhat oppressive.
Madam Fu was holding Jin Ting, who was sobbing softly, and gently comforting her.
When the Lu family entered, Madam Fu looked up, her face showing some embarrassment and difficulty.
"Mr. Lu, Shang Wu, you've arrived. This child is crying terribly, saying it's Xiao Wu..."
Lu Yuwu raised her head and looked directly at Jin Ting.
Shang Wu stepped forward, her tone neither humble nor arrogant: "Madam Fu, we heard what Xiao Wu said about the matter. It was Xiao Wu who was wrong to act. I apologize to Miss Jin on her behalf."
"But according to Xiaowu, it was Ms. Jin who first provoked them in the restroom, and her words were quite inappropriate. It would be better for the two children to clarify any misunderstandings in person to avoid hurting their relationship."
Her stance was clear: she apologized because her daughter had hit her, but the cause needed to be clarified.
Lu Rang also spoke in a deep voice: "Xiao Wu is a bit straightforward, but she is definitely not a child who makes trouble out of nothing."
For a moment, all eyes in the living room fell on the two parties involved.
A silent tension filled the air.
In the living room of the Fu family villa, the crystal chandelier emitted a bright yet slightly cool light.
Madam Fu held Jin Ting, who was sobbing softly, with a troubled expression on her face, her gaze shifting back and forth between the Lu family of three.
"Mr. Lu, Shang Wu, and Xiao Wu, please have a seat."
Madam Fu forced a smile, trying to ease the tension.
“Tingting is a bit spoiled, but it’s still wrong for Xiaowu to hit someone.”
"How about we have Xiaowu apologize to Tingting, and then we can let it go. It's just a little friction between kids..."
Her words still showed favoritism towards Jin Ting, whom she had watched grow up, and she tried to downplay the matter.
Lu Yuwu stood still, her back ramrod straight.
Upon hearing this, she immediately spoke up, her voice firm: "Aunt Fu, I admit that I acted impulsively, but if it happened again, I would hit her again."
"She was the one who spoke ill of me first and insulted me wantonly. I cannot apologize for that."
Her refusal was decisive and left no room for negotiation.
Shang Wu stepped forward and gently put her arm around her daughter's shoulder.
She looked calmly at Madam Fu, her tone gentle yet assertive.
“Madam Fu, we elders shouldn’t interfere too much in the children’s affairs, but since it involves physical violence, we can’t just listen to one side of the story. Xiao Wu may be impulsive, but she is by no means an unreasonable child.”
She paused, then turned her gaze to Jin Ting, who was still sobbing, her voice remaining steady.
"Ms. Jin, what exactly did you say to my daughter in the restroom?"
