Chapter 194 Contraceptive Soup
Zhou Yunshu is no longer the Princess Wei in the palace who always fulfilled his requests. She had finally gotten rid of her previous life and didn't want to go back to the past.
Ji Sheng stopped when he heard Zhou Yunshu's refusal.
Zhou Yunshu was held in Ji Sheng's arms, bearing the pressure from all sides. She looked at Ji Sheng and said again, "I don't want to have any more children, and I don't want to drink contraceptive soup."
She admits that sometimes her body does have needs, after all, she is also a normal woman.
But if the need is to have a child, she feels she can control it.
She didn't want to get pregnant again or have another child. She just wanted to put all her energy into the Zhou family's current career and children.
Ji Sheng turned over, but did not let go of his hand on Zhou Yunshu's waist.
"Ji Sheng."
Ji Sheng held her in his arms and said patiently, "Go to sleep."
Zhou Yunshu wanted to push Ji Sheng away, but was afraid that he would change his mind, so she just snuggled in his arms and fell asleep.
When Zhou Yunshu woke up the next morning, Ji Sheng was no longer by her side.
She thought about what happened last night and thought that maybe his self-esteem had flared up and he didn't know where he had hidden.
Ji Sheng still didn't show up for breakfast, and Zhou Yunshu didn't ask. She asked Zhan Chuan to pull the carriage. She planned to take Wu Gui and Uncle He to take a look at the small farm they had bought.
Zhou Yunshu didn't tell anyone in advance, so the people at the farm didn't know that their new owner had come to the farm.
The carriage slowly drove into the farm. Zhou Yunshu opened the curtains and looked at the lush green rice and wheat seedlings outside, the farmers working hard, and the children occasionally running on the ridges of the fields. Her mood gradually became relaxed and bright.
The carriage stopped, Zhan Chuan jumped down from the shaft and placed the wooden stool beside the carriage. Wu Gui and Zhou Yunshu came out of the carriage one after another.
The carriage stopped in front of a yard. When Zhou Yunshu and the other person got off, Uncle He happened to call out the people in the yard.
The people in the yard showed a hint of surprise on their faces when they saw Uncle He. Then, after hearing what Uncle He said, they looked at Zhou Yunshu and Wu Gui behind him and saluted them without any delay.
"Greetings to the master."
Zhou Yunshu looked at the boy in front of her who was about fifteen years old and nodded slightly.
Uncle He stood to one side and said to Zhou Yunshu, "The children are all in class at this time. Shall we go over and take a look?"
Zhou Yunshu nodded.
The school in Zhuangzi was established after Zhou Yunshu bought Zhuangzi and hired a teacher to teach there.
Whether they are the children bought by Uncle He and Manager Liang, or the children of the farmers in the village, they can all come to this newly opened school to attend classes.
There was a little disturbance when the school first opened. The first teacher was very unhappy to see female students in the classroom.
Relying on his own fame, he wanted to drive all the female students out, and told Uncle He that he would not come to class as long as there were female students in the school.
Uncle He didn't tolerate him. On the day he said this, he found another sensible gentleman to come over.
Nowadays, the teacher in the school is the one who is more sensible. There will always be people who will bow down for a few dollars in order to make a living.
Before she approached the school, Zhou Yunshu heard bursts of reading sounds. When she got closer, she saw that the male students were on the left and the female students were on the right. An old teacher who was about fifty years old was sitting in the classroom with his eyes closed and his head moving as he listened to the students reading.
Occasionally, some students who were not studying seriously turned their heads to see Zhou Yunshu and others. When they saw Uncle He, they quickly lowered their heads.
Zhou Yunshu looked at their little action with the corners of her mouth curled up, inexplicably reminding her of the scene when she was caught by the head teacher when she was in school in modern times.
Uncle He glanced at the student who was not paying attention in class and said to Zhou Yunshu, "The best student among these children is Lai Fu."
Zhou Yunshu looked in the direction Uncle He pointed and saw a round-faced girl about ten years old sitting in the front row.
"The guy who's slightly worse than her is this guy over here, his name is Alang."
Alang looks thin and small, but from what Uncle He said, it seems that he is one year older than Lai Fu.
"The children we bought here generally have better grades than the children in the village, but that one..." Uncle He pointed to a seven-year-old boy and said to Zhou Yunshu, "He's the head of the village's family, named Jinbo. His grades rank among the top five, and he's the smartest and most capable of handling things."
Zhou Yunshu listened to Uncle He talking about the children in the school like the back of his hand. When he finished introducing the children one by one, the class was over and the children had all noticed the presence of Zhou Yunshu and her group.
After class, the old teacher came out and nodded briefly to Uncle He and Zhou Yunshu, talked about his recent academic progress, and then went back to his courtyard on the farm.
"Mr. Fang's surname is Fang. He is an old scholar. His only daughter, who was born in old age, married to Dongchuan. Because he had two daughters in a row, his husband's family disliked him. He had little money, so Mr. Fang, who was over fifty years old, still went out to look for a job.
Because all his descendants are girls, Master Fang treats female and male students equally in the school.
"He now lives in the small courtyard behind the school. Usually, women from the farm come to cook for him."
Zhou Yunshu nodded and asked, "How much is the monthly salary?"
"Two taels of silver per month, without bedding, clothes, paper, ink, or anything else."
Two taels of silver a month, plus some other benefits, this treatment is considered good even in Jiangzhong.
After the teacher left, none of the students in the school ran out because Zhou Yunshu and her group were still outside. They all sat quietly in their seats.
Uncle He made way for Zhou Yunshu, and Zhou Yunshu walked into the school with a smile.
Under the gazes of the children in the hall, Zhou Yunshu smiled and said, "Do you know who I am?"
Jin Bo, praised by Uncle He for his cleverness, looked at Uncle He and Zhou Yunshu, then boldly said, "You are the master of the Dong family!"
Zhou Yunshu smiled and nodded, and Jin Bo raised his little head proudly.
"I'm just here to take a look. The opportunity to study is hard-earned, I hope you cherish it."
"We will definitely cherish it, master!" Lai Fu stood in the front and shouted after Zhou Yunshu finished speaking.
The word "master" at the end was added by her herself, so it is particularly clear.
"Call me sir."
With their current identities, it is more common to call them "Mr."
The children nodded, and Zhou Yunshu continued, "You have all studied here for a long time. Tomorrow I will have your teacher arrange another exam. The top five will receive rewards."
She planned to move the top ten students over after the school in Dongwang Village opened.
As soon as the word "reward" came out, the children's eyes lit up. After Zhou Yunshu and Uncle He and his group left, the originally quiet school immediately became lively, and everyone was guessing what the rewards for the top five would be.
Zhou Yunshu had lunch at the farm. The food was simple and plain, yet authentic.
When they left the farm, they also took with them two baskets of fruits and vegetables, which Zhou Yunshu picked herself because she found them interesting.
When they returned home, Xixi and the others heard that the two baskets of fruits and vegetables were picked by Zhou Yunshu, and they all shouted that they would go to the farm to play next time. In their eyes, isn’t it just a place to play?
Just as Zhou Yunshu had calmed Xixi and the others down, she learned a bombshell from Nanny Wang.
"What did you say?!"
Nanny Wang quickly covered Zhou Yunshu's mouth and said, "My dear little ancestor, please keep your voice down."
"This kind of thing can never be known to anyone else."
Zhou Yunshu pulled away Nanny Wang's hand and stammered a few times, still with disbelief in her eyes.
"Did Ji Sheng really do it?"
