Chapter 33

Chapter 33

The people outside were laughing loudly. When she got out of the carriage, she saw a simply dressed person who looked like a maid.

The man was dressed in indigo blue, which made his skin appear even whiter, and his features exuded a bold and refreshing air.

"What, are you captivated by my charm?"

She suddenly smiled; her personality hadn't changed.

"You dare to dig people out of mass graves, but you don't dare get out of the car?"

Jiang Yunshu smiled again, and Gu Hanyu chuckled and looked back: "Miss Jiang, you've already taken in a husband?"

He said with a playful look, "Life is still more comfortable after a divorce."

She saw the person who was about to get out of the car pause, their brows furrowing and their eyes darkening.

He quickly stepped forward, pulled the person away, and left.

"That's my brother, what nonsense are you talking about!" she whispered. "Has something happened in Yujing City?"

Gu Hanyu then turned her gaze to the person behind her, and saw that his dark and obscure eyes were fixed on Jiang Yunshu, and she smiled even more happily.

Jiang Yunshu looked at her smug smile and was both anxious and angry: "What exactly happened?"

The two approached the mansion. The courtyard was not large and looked like no one lived there. Although it was a brand new courtyard, it felt deserted.

Gu Hanyu spoke as she walked.

"What else could it be but a major disaster for your Jiang family!"

Jiang Yunshu's unease gradually grew, and with Gu Hanyu's next words, her heart sank deeper and deeper.

"As soon as the Second Prince returned, he submitted a memorial saying that Nanhua County had been flooded and the entire county had been submerged, with not a single person in charge remaining."

"It is said that the flood in Nanhua County caused an epidemic, and your Jiang family timely donated the Soul-Snatching Grass to save everyone."

Jiang Yunshu pursed her lips as she looked at Gu Hanyu.

"But not a single person from the three groups in Jiangnan submitted a memorial, yet a deposed crown prince did, and even protected your Jiang family. What do you think that person should do about it?"

She looked at Gu Hanyu silently, cursing the emperor for being blind and incompetent.

Seeing her like this, Gu Hanyu smiled again: "I forgot to mention, Consort Li's younger brother died, and the Director of the Imperial Observatory said that he was the lucky son of the Great Xing Kingdom."

Gu Hanyu smiled so much that her eyes narrowed into slits: "Your Jiang family killed him, but that was a blessing for our Great Xing Kingdom."

He shook his head and clicked his tongue lightly: "This is a capital offense."

Hearing this, she felt an urge to kill Mo Yanzhou. That spoiled, brainless brat had the nerve to associate himself with Fu Yun.

It seems that this time, Consort Li has truly been angered.

Then he saw Gu Hanyu smiling calmly: "You have a plan?"

Gu Hanyu glanced at her with disdain and shook her head: "I stopped using such low-level tricks five years ago."

"Can you silence the public's opinions by sealing the memorials to the emperor?"

"Good fortune? It was just something those old Taoist priests said casually. How come in such a vast palace, the Hu family is the only one with such good fortune?"

Gu Hanyu raised an eyebrow with interest: "Even the imperial bloodline has never produced such a lucky child. Could there be some other explanation, or are they coveting something else?"

Jiang Yunshu's gaze shifted from hesitation to admiration. No wonder she was a rich young lady who had survived a mass grave.

Your brain works really well!

"I'll do it right away..."

"You'll be arrested the moment you show your face. There are quite a few people in Yujing City who know you, the former Lady Chen!"

She suddenly came to her senses and thought of her parents far away in Jiangzhou, and a wave of worry washed over her.

"Don't worry, I've already sent people there."

Jiang Yunshu was so grateful she didn't know what to say. She just looked at her, and Gu Hanyu shivered: "Who told you to save me?"

Jiang Yunshu hadn't actually had much contact with this person over the years. Although they were both in Kyoto, Jiang Yunshu rarely had the opportunity to go out.

On the rare occasions they did meet, they could only gaze at each other from afar.

Gu Hanyu helped her several times back then, and she then realized that this person was not as cold as he appeared.

I just didn't expect Gu Hanyu to have gone this far.

As the two were talking, Ling Jingchu stepped forward and bowed respectfully to Gu Hanyu, asking, "Is your father the Prime Minister Gu?"

Gu Hanyu glanced at Jiang Yunshu with a half-smile, then turned to look at him and asked, "What do you want to say?"

Ling Jingchu took out a booklet from his pocket and handed it to Gu Hanyu.

Gu Hanyu casually took the document and flipped through it. Her eyes gradually brightened, and then she looked at Ling Jingchu with wariness and suspicion.

What do you mean?

"I have long heard that the Prime Minister has the world at heart, and I think it is best to entrust these things to the Prime Minister."

Gu Hanyu closed the booklet in her hand and casually stuffed the contents into Jiang Yunshu's arms.

Jiang Yunshu was also unsure. She glanced at Ling Jingchu, then at the people who had turned and gone to the front hall, before turning her gaze back to the booklet in her hand.

She was taken aback when she opened it; it was a joint memorial from the three prefectures of Jiangnan, detailing the disaster in Nanhua County and several other affected areas.

"you……"

She looked at Ling Jingchu in disbelief. Was everything already prepared?

She closed the booklet and strode to the front hall, where Gu Hanyu was leisurely sipping tea.

"With this, we can..."

Gu Hanyu shook her head: "My Gu family has always been neutral. I can help you, but I can't guarantee that the old man will help you."

Once this memorial is submitted, regardless of whether the emperor believes it or not, they will offend the Third Prince and Consort Li.

Once a side is taken, neutrality ceases to exist.

Jiang Yunshu lowered her eyes and said with a slow smile, "It was my oversight. I will think of another way to handle this."

Seeing that she was putting on a brave face, Gu Hanyu said, "Don't worry, the Second Princess is accompanied by members of the Yun family. I have already given instructions that the Yun family will protect her."

She stood up and bowed deeply to Gu Hanyu: "Thank you."

"If you continue to be so formal, I'll send you to the Imperial Clan Court tomorrow. You're so long-winded."

Gu Hanyu led the people out and told the two not to wander around.

They also left behind two or three servants and a maid.

Ling Jingchu looked at the booklet in Jiang Yunshu's hand, and his heart sank a little. He had planned everything, but he hadn't expected the Emperor to lock up the Second Prince so quickly.

Jiang Yunshu was less worried after seeing this.

Because she knew that there was someone who really wanted to save the Second Prince, and that was the Crown Prince's tutor, Lord Wang.

She died young in her previous life and didn't notice that Lord Wang was on good terms with those people. Now, given her status, it's even more difficult for her to see Lord Wang.

With no other option, the two had to settle down for the time being.

After she and Qing Shuang settled in, she realized that Ling Jingchu's chosen house was very close to hers. It turned out to be in the Jiang residence, with one of them in the east and the other in the west.

Now you can see it just by turning around.

but……

Ling Jingchu is a man!

She couldn't help but think of what happened that night, and gasped. This won't do!

Although Ling Jingchu looks respectable, he likes to read books in the courtyard with his chest exposed. Since the two of them live together like this, it's even more unavoidable!

After much hesitation, she decided to tell Ling Jingchu. It wouldn't sound good if rumors started circulating about them alone together.

Ling Jingchu was about to put the books on the shelf when he saw her, so he straightened up and walked over.

Ling Jingchu had deep-set eyebrows and raised them slightly as he looked at her, as if asking what important matter she had come for.

"You can stay in another room."

Jiang Yunshu blurted out. Su Ye, who was behind Ling Jingchu, turned around and glanced at her, then silently turned back, slowing down her packing.

As if remembering something, she simply put the things down.

"Young master, I just remembered that I left some things outside. I'll go out and get them first."

After saying that, she ran out, leaving only the two of them in the room. There weren't many things piled up inside, and Gu Hanyu had cleaned it very well, with no smell of dust.

Instead, it has a faint, pleasant fragrance.

Ling Jingchu looked at her, seemingly puzzled.

She wanted to say it, but when it came to her lips, she felt she couldn't bring herself to say it.

So the two of them just stared at each other blankly.

After an unknown amount of time, Ling Jingchu finally said in a deep voice, "Okay."

Ling Jingchu's voice was hoarse, and his eyes were gloomy and unfathomable.

There was nothing he didn't understand: Jiang Yunshu had Chu Shuangfeng in her heart, and even if Chu Shuangfeng wasn't here, she would still keep her distance from him.

He did have some ulterior motives in choosing this place; he wanted people to misunderstand, and he wanted Jiang Yunshu to be able to see him at all times.

But she wouldn't even allow that.

Ling Jingchu's gaze fell on Jiang Yunshu's eyes, which were clear, clean, and somewhat tired.

But it's much better than when I was lying in a hospital bed.

Perhaps because she knew that Ayao was not in immediate danger, she was finally able to relax for a moment.

Jiang Yunshu looked at him, also somewhat puzzled.

This person kept saying "okay" while standing there without moving...

What does this mean?

Before she could think it over, Gu Hanyu's little maid, Xiao Lü, ran in and said something.

“Miss Jiang, my mistress asked me to tell you that my master’s birthday is in three days, and my mistress will come to pick you up then.”

She smiled and replied, "Lord Wang will definitely go too!"

She sighed again, "As expected of Gu Hanyu, she even thought of this."

Ling Jingchu didn't expect that Gu Hanyu could make arrangements so quickly.

Jiang Yunshu thought for a moment and decided to have Ling Jingchu give the things to Lord Wang, since she had heard that Lord Wang looked down on women.

If she sends it up, Lord Wang might think she's trying to curry favor with the Second Prince.

If Ling Jingchu went, things would be much more normal.

Three days later, the two changed into the servant and maid clothes that Gu Hanyu had prepared for them.

She deliberately wore light makeup today and dressed in simple clothes, giving her a pure and beautiful look, like a lotus emerging from clear water.

When she saw Ling Jingchu as she went out, she was stunned for a moment. Ling Jingchu was wearing a dark blue-black shirt with a light blue-green jacket over it.

The clothes, which were originally very ordinary, looked as if they were tailor-made for him.

Tall and elegant, he stood with his hands behind his back. When he turned to look at her, the heavy aura around him seemed to dissipate with the wind.

She was momentarily stunned when the man appeared in front of her and whispered in her ear.

"Jiang Yunshu, I'm dressed."

A low, husky voice brushed past her ear, and she was jolted awake.

He looked up, and his forehead unexpectedly collided with his chin.
