Chapter 9

Chapter 9

Jiang Yunshu could laugh out loud just thinking about the scene.

She sat leisurely in the carriage waiting. When Ling Jingchu and Su Ye came out, she lifted the curtain and looked at him with a smile through the small window.

Ling Jingchu's face darkened, his expression turning somewhat unpleasant as he looked up at her.

He seemed to harbor a lot of resentment.

Her smile deepened: "Master Ling, didn't you have something urgent to attend to? Why haven't you come yet? Perhaps you don't think much of my carriage?"

Ling Jingchu's expression darkened further.

"Men and women should not touch each other. I know that Master Ling is a person who cares a lot about the separation of men and women. I don't care about it, but if I ruin Master Ling's reputation, that would be a terrible sin!"

As he spoke, his lips stretched all the way to his ears.

She raised her hand to cover her lips, but her eyes were still curved and smiling, with the corners of her eyes turned up.

Ling Jingchu paused for a moment, then moved forward, while Su Ye skillfully sat in the front and drove.

Jiang Yunshu reached out to pull Ling Jingchu, and when the two sat down in front, she smiled again.

Qing Shuang disagreed softly, saying, "Miss, wouldn't it be easier for people to gossip about you if you left Young Master Ling outside?"

"or……"

Qing Shuang frowned, as if deep in thought.

"Let Young Master Ling go on his own!"

Her smile deepened, and she reached out the window to pat Qing Shuang's head: "As expected of my trusted confidante who has followed me for so many years."

"Let them come in and have a seat."

She spoke softly, and Qing Shuang hesitated for a moment before stepping forward anyway.

Ling Jingchu lifted the curtain and walked in. The carriage was spacious, and she sat at the very back. Ling Jingchu did not move further in but sat far away from her.

He didn't look at her, just nodded and sat down.

She silently thought to herself: He's gone silent now, he should just sit outside and be a coachman.

What a spoilsport!

Thinking this, she couldn't help but let out a soft hum. She also turned her head away from Ling Jingchu, only plotting in her mind when to throw Ling Jingchu out of the car.

The two remained silent in the carriage, and waves of heat seeped in through the curtains, causing Jiang Yunshu to break out in a sweat.

Just as I was thinking of reaching out to pull the curtain, a head flashed past my eyes, and then my leg was hit by that head.

She hissed softly and instinctively braced herself on her feet, straining her legs to avoid being hit too hard.

Just as she was about to curse, she saw that Ling Jingchu's face was flushed, there were fine beads of sweat on the tip of his nose, his brows were slightly furrowed, and his long eyelashes tightly covered his eyes.

She gently nudged Ling Jingchu, but his eyes remained tightly closed.

"Su Ye, hurry to the clinic, Ling Jingchu has fainted!"

Su Ye responded repeatedly from outside, and the carriage sped up a bit. Fortunately, the clinic was nearby, and when Doctor Li saw them, he gave them another good scolding.

"Why didn't you bring him here after he was already dead? Your reputation as a miracle doctor will be ruined sooner or later!"

"It's already hot, why are you covering yourself up like this? Where's your medicine? If you're not going to drink it, just bring it to me, my dog needs it!"

While scolding him sternly, she quickly ripped off Ling Jingchu's clothes, even forgetting to kick Jiang Yunshu out.

She also saw Ling Jingchu's wound because of this.

She initially thought it was just a normal wound, but as Ling Jingchu's clothes were peeled off, she saw that his chest and abdomen were covered in a dark purple color.

It's more like being poisoned.

"The medicine I applied last time, I already told you it needs to be applied every day. If you really don't want to live anymore, don't come here and ruin my reputation!"

Dr. Li frowned and began to scold Su Ye again, then turned to look at her: "Why are you still here? A grown woman with no shame!"

Dr. Li's apprentice gestured for her to come out, and she gave Ling Jingchu a deep look before following her apprentice out.

"Miss Jiang, please don't mind him. That's just how my master is. He's always been sharp-tongued but kind-hearted."

"It's because I'm worried about the young master's illness that I'm doing this."

She was absent-minded the whole way, and when she raised her hand to touch the cut on her neck, it had long since disappeared.

When Qing Shuang was applying the medicine earlier, she wondered why the area around the wound was dark.

She had initially thought it was the effect of Moonlit Silver, completely assuming it was related to the short blade.

Ling Jingchu looked at him with aloofness and coldness, but she knew in her heart that he always kept his distance from them precisely because he was living under someone else's roof.

This matter has already worried her parents a lot, and Ling Jingchu will not reveal that she was poisoned.

He didn't want the Jiang family to worry about him.

Otherwise, why would she have endured the machinations of her colleagues alone until she was discovered and had nowhere left to hide?

"Miss Jiang, please wait here for a moment. Don't worry too much. Judging from my master's expression, Young Master Ling should be alright. Otherwise, he would have already called us all in with a dark expression."

Dr. Li's young apprentice was a very warm-hearted person. He was thin and small, with a dark complexion. The gray-green cloth clothes he wore made him look even darker.

But having a good set of teeth makes a person's smile much brighter.

Perhaps feeling that his smile was inappropriate at the moment, he quickly suppressed it.

"Miss Jiang, please have a seat."

There were also some people in the front yard of the clinic; some were picking up medicine, and others were having their pulse taken.

The rich aroma of medicinal herbs mixed with the scent of wood permeated the entire clinic, inexplicably making people feel relaxed.

The young apprentice quickly returned to the backyard. She sat quietly in the clinic, her mind a jumble of thoughts.

One moment she was thinking of Ling Jingchu, the next she was thinking of that bottle of medicine, and then she was thinking of Jiang Yunzheng, to the point that she started having auditory hallucinations.

It seemed that everyone in the clinic was talking about the Jiang family; some were cursing in low voices, while others were filled with righteous indignation.

She even felt that the patients in the clinic looked at her with considerable anger, and some even pointed at her and started cursing.

"So that's why the Jiang family makes money from everything! It turns out their young lady is sick. You heartless bastards, it's not enough that our money is in your pockets, now you want our lives too!"

"No wonder the Marquis of Yujing City doesn't want you. The Jiang family is such a black-hearted bunch, a parasite on our Great Xing Dynasty!"

"Give me back my son's life!"

When the man glared at her and was about to slap her, she realized that she was not imagining things.

Qing Shuang reacted quickly, stopping the man and pushing him back to protect Jiang Yunshu behind her.

"Stop talking nonsense! What's wrong with our young lady? Our Jiang family acts with integrity and honesty, and the money we earn is definitely not the 'dirty money' you claim. If you continue to cause trouble, then we'll see you at the government office!"

Qing Shuang sternly ordered the man and the woman behind him to leave.

But the woman laughed mockingly: "You want to report this to the authorities? Hahaha, fine, we'll report it to the authorities and see if your Jiang family is right, or if we are right!"

“My son got sick because he ate your rice. Our whole family is here today because we were poisoned by your Jiang family’s rice!”

The woman was delirious: "My son was weak from birth, and this poisoning has actually killed him!"

"Miss Jiang, you owe me my son's life!"

Jiang Yunshu was stunned, unable to tell whether the person in front of her was real or fake. She opened her mouth, but when she was about to speak, she didn't know what to say.

The woman in front of them was crying her heart out, and the man was even more furious. Behind them, there were indeed several children whose faces were ashen.

The people in the clinic were whispering among themselves, and they all looked at Jiang Yunshu with some strange expressions.

The woman didn't rush forward again; instead, she beat her chest and collapsed to the ground, sobbing. The man held her and gently comforted her.

Qing Shuang led her out of the clinic first, and there were still sounds behind them.

She was restless and had no desire to go to the restaurant to find Jiang Yunzheng. She left a message for the people at the clinic, informing Ling Jingchu that she had returned home first.

Without a coachman, Qing Shuang had no choice but to drive the carriage forward.

The two slowly made their way back to the Jiang family home through the bustling city, and along the way she heard wails of agony everywhere.

"Damn it, it was the Jiang family who killed my grandson! My grandson is only five years old. I don't know what they mixed into their food, it's deadly!"

"My son is only eight years old!"

"I knew it! Why would the Jiang family suddenly lower the prices? These things used to be affordable for poor families like us, but now they're trying to kill us..."

The crying and screaming were deafening all the way, and she couldn't pretend she didn't hear it.

When they returned to the Jiang family home, the entrance was already completely blocked by people.

Their carriage was surrounded by people before it even got close.

"This is Miss Jiang. Grab her and see if that heartless man dares to show his face!"

"He couldn't have a son of his own, so he poisoned all our sons. This old bastard did it on purpose!"

"He poisoned all our sons, so we'll kill his daughter too, so that old man can taste what it's like to lose his own child!"

Qing Shuang was no match for four hands with her bare fists; someone reached in through the carriage window to pull her away.

She tried her best to dodge: "Qing Shuang, run!"

Upon hearing this, Qing Shuang stopped arguing with them and drove the carriage towards the back gate.

Those people couldn't withstand the force of the carriage pulling them, so they let go.

However, a group of people had also gathered at the back gate, and when they saw their carriage, they stared at them with eyes that seemed to glow green.

Qing Shuang's expression hardened, and she prepared to fight these people.

"Make way, everyone."

His gentle voice sounded cold and deep at this moment, and Baili Chuan's usually smiling face also turned cold.

"Who are you? Why should we move aside? We've been wronged by the Jiang family, all we want is justice!"

"If you want justice, go to court. Is this what you call justice, besieging a weak woman like this?"

"Don't give us any of your high-sounding advice. My son was poisoned to death by the Jiang family, so why should their daughter be allowed to live a good life?"

"I want the entire Jiang family to be buried with my son, so what?!"

As they spoke, the people surged forward, their eyes red as they rushed toward the carriage.

Just as Qing Shuang was about to make a move, Baili Chuan stepped forward to engage in combat.

His speed was extremely fast and his strength was immense. Those people were no match for Baili Chuan and were quickly defeated.

"This is just a warning. If you have any grudges, go find them. Don't bully a woman who can't even kill a chicken."

Those people glared at him angrily, but they couldn't get up to continue fighting, so they could only watch as Qing Shuang led Jiang Yunshu into the Jiang family home.

When Jiang Yunshu reached the backyard, she suddenly turned around and looked at Bailichuan.
