He Yu noticed that He Yan's face showed no emotion, and he couldn't tell that He Yan was sad.
Thinking about it, I think I really have let go.
It's good that you can let it go.
"How's your team building going?" He Yu asked, bringing up work.
...
"He Yan, I'm asking you a question. Why are you standing there like that?"
"Oh, it's still under construction."
He Yan snapped out of his daze and forced a smile.
"He Yan, have you really let go?"
"Whether I can let go or not doesn't matter anymore, it's not important, he's getting married soon."
"You two are destined to be together but not to stay together. Just listen to your aunt and go on a blind date. Maybe you'll meet someone you like. After all, you have a long future ahead of you."
He Yu patted He Yan on the shoulder, hoping as his older sister that he could let her go.
Life is full of disappointments, and perhaps that's just how it is – a mix of joys and sorrows, regrets and remorse. That's life!
"Being single is fine, I'm used to it, and I'm not suited for marriage, otherwise I wouldn't have gotten divorced. I've already experienced one failed marriage, why would I want to go through it again?"
He was filled with dejection as he said this.
"Your marriage with Xiaohua wasn't really a marriage at all. You barely spent any time together. That's probably the downside of an arranged marriage. Don't put yourself in a dead end. Go out and find a girl who's right for you. Get to know someone properly first. Feelings are built over time."
He Yu still believed in the power of time to develop feelings. Even a cat or a dog, if you raise it for a long time, you'll develop a bond; how much more so two living people?
After spending a lot of time together, feelings will definitely develop. The first step to developing feelings is to spend time with other people. He Yan's biggest problem right now is that he refuses to spend time with other people.
"Can feelings really develop over time? Xiaohua and I lived under the same roof for a long time, practically spending every day together, and it still ended the same way. If you can't love someone, you just can't love them. So don't force yourself, and I don't want to hurt innocent girls."
He Yan had already said all that, and He Yu didn't know what else she could say to persuade her.
He's so stubborn, he'll stick to his own ideas and refuse to come out, no matter how much you talk to him.
Forget it, if I keep trying to persuade her, she might have a heart attack.
"When she gets married, could you please bring me a gift?"
Why didn't you deliver it yourself? Why did you make me do it?
He Yan's voice was a little hoarse: "I'm afraid I'll cry. It's pathetic for a grown man to shed tears."
He Yu sighed, feeling saddened by his words. After all, he was her younger brother, and as his older sister, how could she feel good seeing him upset?
"It's really pathetic that a grown man can't get out of his shell after all these years. Should I call you sentimental or just stubborn?"
He Yan tilted his head back and took a deep breath.
"I might be sick."
He Yu agreed wholeheartedly: "That's right, you have a good understanding of yourself, so you're quite ill."
After He Yu left, He Yan smoked all night in his room.
The next morning, Su Qin almost choked to death when she opened his room door.
"He Yan, what are you doing? Are you playing with fire?"
He Yan couldn't help but twitch his lips. How old was he? Playing with fire in his room?
His mother's thought process was truly bizarre; no wonder she gave birth to such a sick son.
Seeing that He Yan looked no different from a homeless person, Su Qin couldn't help but cover her mouth with disgust and heartache, saying, "He Yan, what's wrong with you?"
Looking at the ashtray full of cigarette butts.
"How many cigarettes have you smoked? Your company gave you a lot of cigarettes as a perk. Even if they're free, you can't smoke like this."
As Su Qin spoke, she quickly opened the window.
"Mom, I never knew you were so humorous."
He Yan's tone was indifferent, and he seemed listless.
"What's wrong? Are you in a bad mood?"
Su Qin sat by his bedside.
"After smoking all night, do you think I could possibly be in a good mood?"
Su Qin patted her son's face: "Hmm, you're quite humorous too, just like your mother."
"Tell Mom what happened."
Seeing her son so dejected, the mother must feel heartbroken.
He Yan didn't want to tell his mother because she had always disliked Ye Xiaohua and had never said anything nice about her.
"Let me guess what it's about?"
He Yan was a little annoyed: "You can leave now."
"Why have you been home for so long today? You're probably still angry with that woman!"
Normally, even if my son comes home and stays overnight, he leaves early the next day to take the children to school.
This home was worse than a hotel to him.
"Mom guessed right."
Su Qin knew it when she saw that He Yan didn't say anything!
"Yes, you guessed right. Now, please get out!"
Su Qin got up and left, and He Yan was a little surprised that his mother was so obedient this time.
A short while later, Su Qin came in again, this time with a glass of warm water.
"Get up and drink some water. Your voice sounds awful from all the smoke."
You can choose not to listen.
He Yan took the bowl and drank it all in one gulp.
"It's been years, and she still doesn't have feelings for you. Aren't you going to give up?"
Su Qin was really angry at him; he had no backbone at all.
"I gave up a long time ago."
He Yan answered truthfully.
"Do you look like you're giving up?"
He looked distressed and heartbroken over love.
“I didn’t cry, make a scene, or threaten suicide, so how can it not be considered giving up?”
Seeing that her son could still joke around, Su Qin's mood wasn't too bad.
