Xiao Hua's outfit caught Zhou Musheng's eye. In an era where everyone is wearing bright red lips and big waves, Xiao Hua's fresh and natural outfit gave people a refreshing feeling.
"I've noticed that you're very different from other girls."
Zhou Musheng looked her up and down with an appreciative gaze, but quickly withdrew his gaze from her. When a gentleman sees a beautiful lady, a glance is an expression of appreciation, but staring at her for too long is impolite.
"Hmm? What's different?"
Xiao Hua asked the question knowing the answer already.
"Your attire complements your temperament, giving off a fresh and natural feeling, which suits you very well."
Zhou Musheng praised without reservation.
Xiao Hua smiled gently: "Mr. Zhou, you flatter me."
At the party, Xiao Hua accompanied Zhou Musheng to socialize. Although Zhou Musheng was a German citizen of Chinese descent, his English might not be as good as his Chinese and German, but Xiao Hua had seen his English before, so normal communication was not a problem, and she did not need to accompany him as a translator.
Of course, she's already incredibly grateful that someone is willing to give her a job opportunity to earn money, and she wouldn't ask silly questions like, "Your English is so good, why do you need me to translate for you?"
After the party, Zhou Musheng had other business to attend to, so he asked his assistant to drive her home.
At the hotel entrance, just as Xiaohua was about to open the car door and get in, Zhou Musheng suddenly asked her out of the blue, "How is your relationship with your ex-husband?"
Just as Xiaohua was wondering how to answer, Zhou Musheng continued, "My ex-wife and I had a bad relationship, like oil and water. Actually, for the sake of the children, even if we were divorced, we shouldn't let our relationship get too bad. It's not good for the children, don't you think?"
Xiaohua didn't quite understand why Zhou Musheng suddenly brought up these issues between ex-husbands and ex-wives, but she wasn't the type to pry into things.
"My relationship with the child's father is so-so, we're quite unfamiliar with each other, but for the sake of the child, I try my best to maintain a harmonious and friendly relationship, otherwise it will affect the child's healthy growth."
She didn't mention the word "ex-husband," since she and He Yan weren't divorced yet, and could only vaguely say that he was the father of her child.
To Zhou Musheng, that was her ex-husband.
"Yes, you're right. I hope my child's mother can also understand this principle."
As Zhou Musheng spoke, he opened the car door for Xiaohua: "Go back now, see you next time."
Little Flower nodded: "Okay, see you next time, Mr. Zhou."
How did Xiaohua meet Zhou Musheng? She was introduced by a student's parent to tutor Zhou Musheng's son in math. Zhou Musheng's son was already twelve years old and attended the only international school in Shanghai. Zhou Musheng was also 37 years old this year, but he didn't look like a middle-aged man at all. He was elegant and gentlemanly, and judging from his appearance and temperament, he looked to be at most around thirty years old.
When Xiao Hua arrived home, Zhou Musheng's assistant, Xiao Li, handed her an envelope.
Xiao Hua estimated that the money was quite a lot and hesitated to accept it: "Assistant Li, isn't this too much?"
Assistant Li shoved it into Xiao Hua's hand: "Zhou Xiaosheng said that this is what Miss Ye deserves."
After Assistant Li left, Xiao Hua opened the envelope and took out the money. She counted it and found it to be a full two thousand yuan. Not to mention that in this day and age, 2,000 yuan is a lot of money for translating for someone else's event. Even decades later, 2,000 yuan would still be a lot of money for translating an event.
So when Xiaohua received the money, she felt it was too much to handle. She thought the amount was outrageous and decided to return it to Zhou Musheng. It was better not to take money that didn't belong to her.
Xiao Hua returned home with the money in her hand. He Yan was still playing with the child at her house and hadn't left.
Why haven't you left yet?
She came back intending to take Kang An out for Western food; she didn't want to invite another person.
After all, she earned her money through hard work and it wasn't easy for her.
“I’ve been waiting for you.” He Yan stood up and approached her.
Xiaohua frowned when she saw him standing too close to her, and said with some disdain, "Stay away from me and don't get so close. We're not that close."
When Kang'an saw his mother return, he happily ran into Xiaohua's arms: "Mom, I really like this toy dad. He can talk and play with me, tell me stories and sing to me, and he can obey my commands. When I tell him to lie down, he lies down. I can also lie on him and ride the rocking horse. Mom, can this toy dad stay with me forever?"
Xiao Hua was speechless when she heard this. Had she managed to bribe the child in less than half a day?
“Sweetie, Daddy can stay here with you as long as you want, it just depends on whether your mommy agrees.”
Xiao Hua rolled her eyes at He Yan. He wanted to stay at her house? Was she giving him the cold shoulder?
“Sweetie, that won’t do. Toy Daddy can’t play with you all the time. If he plays with you all the time, he’ll run out of battery. He needs to go back to his own home and recharge before he can come back to play with you.”
Xiao Hua doesn't live in her house like He Yan does.
"Then we can go to the store and buy extra-large batteries for Toy Daddy. That way, whenever Toy Daddy runs out of power, I can put a battery in his mouth and he'll have power again to play with me."
It has to be said that such young children have such imaginative and whimsical ideas in their heads.
He Yan subconsciously touched his mouth. Kang An wanted to put a battery in his mouth. She really dared to think that way. Did she think he was too healthy?
"Kang'an, Daddy can play with you forever even without batteries."
