Chapter 19: It's not about the morning or the evening
The woman inside the door saw that there was a stranger outside and quickly closed the door.
Qiu Xuan quickly blocked the door panel with his legs, gestured to the guards waiting behind with one hand, and pushed the woman away with the other hand and squeezed in through the crack in the door.
"Run!" The woman grabbed Qiu Xuan and shouted into the house.
"Ahui!" Ji Yao rushed out, holding a rolling pin in his hand. "Let go of Ahui!"
"Ji Yao." Qiu Xuan called out.
The rolling pin in Ji Yao's hand stopped in mid-air, and he blinked suspiciously.
"Qiu Lao Er?" he called tentatively.
"Don't call it that."
"Qiu Xuan!" Ji Yao excitedly pulled Qiu Xuan's sleeve and looked left and right, "You're not dead!"
"Ah Hui." He pulled Ah Hui and said, "This is the classmate I told you about, the one who led us to the fight."
Then he turned to Qiu Xuan and said, "This is my sweetheart, Ah Hui."
"My name is Liu Hui." Liu Hui still looked at Qiu Xuan with caution.
"Qiu Xuan."
That counts as a greeting.
"Your Majesty has pardoned the Qiu family? You have returned from the north? Did His Highness Ningjia bring you back?" Ji Yao asked and suddenly calmed down.
"But...why...how did you find it?"
"Your brother asked me to find you." Qiu Xuan said briefly.
"My brother?" Ji Yao was stunned.
"Are you here to take Ji Yao back?" Liu Hui nervously stood in front of Ji Yao.
"The marriage between the Ji family and the Yunyang Marquisate has been cancelled." Qiu Xuan did not hesitate.
After hearing this, Ji Yao excitedly held Liu Hui's hand and said, "That's great!"
"So you can go back."
"No! I won't go back!" Ji Yao said excitedly: "After I go back, they will ask me to marry again. If it's not the Yunyang Marquis Mansion, it will be someone else's family. I won't go back. I want to be with Ah Hui."
"Ji Yao..." Liu Hui hesitated.
Seeing that Liu Hui's attitude had softened, Qiu Xuan said to her, "The mages are looking for you."
Liu Hui shuddered, and Ji Yao quickly protected her: "She can't go back either. Those mages will only bully her and her family..."
"Ji Yao, let me speak for myself." Liu Hui stopped her lover from speaking for her: "I know that if the Imperial Master doesn't find me, he will definitely take my family away, but...but..."
Liu Hui took a deep breath. "They sold me to the mage. If they are implicated by me, then it's... their own fault."
"Ah Hui is so pitiful." Ji Yao stood in front of Liu Hui, "I can't send her back to that wolf's den."
"If you want to protect her, you should go home," Qiu Xuan advised. "The mages outside are almost lifting up the floor tiles to search, and they'll find her here soon."
"We're leaving the city tonight. Thank you for reminding me." Ji Yao said, and smiled. "I didn't expect you still remember this place. Those who drank here back then are all dead or gone. Only the two of us are left."
"We are the only two people who have the leisure to stand here and chat."
Qiuxuan doesn't like to hear those sad words.
The Ji Mansion is also in the south of the city, they should be there soon.
"How did you plan to escape? You even abandoned your horse," Qiu Xuan analyzed calmly. "Eunuchs and mages guard the city gates day and night."
"Get out..." Ji Yao hesitated, "Anyway, I'll find a way."
"Of course you can think so. After all, even if they catch you, they can't do anything to you." Qiu Xuan said, motioning him to look at Liu Hui.
"I'm advising you to go back, not to break you up. It's just that Liu Hui's only chance of survival is to hide in the Ji Mansion. The gate of the Ji Mansion is much stronger than this door that can be kicked open with one foot."
"Ji Yao..." Liu Hui looked at the person next to her.
"I can't argue with you. I couldn't argue with you before, and I can't argue with you now either." Ji Yao waved the rolling pin in his hand dejectedly.
"But Qiuxuan, Dadu is no longer what you remember. The Ji family is just an empty shell. If I take Ah Hui back, they will definitely hand Ah Hui over to Ji Zhuang to please him!"
"If you don't go back now, believe it or not, you will fall into the hands of the shamans tonight."
"Then we will die together..."
Before Ji Yao could make out his point, there was a loud knock on the door outside.
"Someone is following us." The guard shouted through the door.
"You brought people here." Liu Hui realized it immediately.
"I've notified his brother to come pick him up." Qiu Xuan stepped forward and grabbed Liu Hui, "Come with me."
She turned to Ji Yao and said, "Since you said your family members are unreliable, then you can always leave it to me."
"Of course you and I can trust each other, but..."
After receiving Ji Yao's affirmation, Qiu Xuan immediately advised Liu Hui: "You know in your heart that as long as the magicians can't find you, they won't do anything to Ji Yao."
Liu Hui looked at Ji Yao hesitantly, and the latter immediately stepped forward to grab the person.
"We will not separate, not even until we die!"
"If we don't separate, I'll really die." Qiu Xuan looked at Liu Hui, "Come with me quickly."
The knocking on the door outside became more and more urgent. Liu Hui gritted her teeth and pushed away Ji Yao's hand.
"She's right. If we run together, no one can escape!" "Then how can I find you in the future?"
"Ask Ji Tiao."
Qiu Xuan opened the door, and the guard immediately said, "A group of soldiers are blocking the alley entrance."
"Take Gan Tang out with you."
Qiuxuan chatted for a while and closed the door.
"What, what should I do?" Ji Yao asked nervously.
"As long as the person who comes isn't your brother, don't say a word."
After saying that, Qiu Xuan grabbed Liu Hui and said, "Come with me."
She took Liu Hui out of the back door, turned several times in the alley, passed a pile of debris, and arrived at the back of the monks' quarters.
"Follow me and keep your head down." Qiu Xuan whispered.
Liu Hui nodded and did as she was told. The two of them walked quickly through the monks' quarters.
"Is the donor going back?"
A young monk who was sweeping the floor saw Qiu Xuan and saluted with his hands clasped together, saying, "Donor Qiu has a good aptitude for wisdom. Please come to the temple more often."
"Okay." Qiu Xuan responded with a smile.
The two passed each other, and the little monk lowered his head and continued sweeping the floor, thinking that the servant behind Qiu Xuan seemed to have changed his clothes.
Maybe it got dirty somewhere, so the little monk swept the floor and put the matter behind him.
The carriage was still waiting there. Xu Qi saw that there was a different person behind Qiu Xuan. He was stunned for a moment, but quickly returned to normal.
"Go out first, they are waiting ahead." Qiu Xuan ordered.
Qiu Xuan arrived at the alley entrance almost at the same time as Ji Tiao. The place was already crowded with people watching the fun. Gan Tang was also among them, communicating with the aunt next to him.
Ji Tiao had to shout at them to get out of the way, and the discussion in the crowd became louder.
The sharp-eyed guard saw Qiu Xuan's carriage and immediately patted Gan Tang to let her go.
Gan Tang returned to the carriage with a smile that still showed his unsatisfied look on his face.
"Madam, listen to me..."
"Don't say anything yet, let's go."
The wheels had just turned half a circle when someone on horseback blocked the way.
"Whose carriage is this?"
