She first went to several of the largest brokerage firms to get a feel for the market prices, and she carefully noted down the approximate prices of several bustling neighborhoods extending from Xiaohe Street, as well as some fertile fields outside the city.
The land and housing prices in Hangzhou far exceed those in Suzhou, which deviated somewhat from her original plans.
So she continued south along Xiaohe Street and saw a spacious and magnificent building in the distance.
“Madam, that’s the Prince of Fenyang’s residence!” said a matchmaker in the brokerage firm.
Su Xuerong looked at the house heavily guarded by soldiers, and then glanced around at the houses surrounding the Prince's Mansion.
She could probably foresee that a new imperial city would be rebuilt here three years after the establishment of the Southern Zhou Dynasty.
Su Xuerong turned to the matchmaker and asked, "Where is the largest restaurant in Hangzhou?"
"Madam, please follow me..."
The matchmaker was extremely enthusiastic as she led Su Xuerong back from the south by carriage, pointing along the east side of Xiaohe Street: "Look, this Fengle Tavern, Lanlingfang, Zhonghelou... are all top-notch restaurants in Hangzhou."
Su Xuerong was pleasantly surprised to find that these restaurants were located very close to Xiuyifang, which Ge Cong'an had rented to them. It would take less than the time it takes to burn an incense stick to reach the restaurants.
She got off the carriage and was about to walk toward the nearest Fengle Tavern when a sudden gust of wind blew away her already loosely fastened veil.
Xiuchun hurriedly chased after her.
Su Xuerong stood waiting on one side of the tavern when she suddenly heard a voice from beside her: "Wife, would you like to have your fortune told?"
She turned her head and saw a Taoist-looking man staring at her with an incredulous and strange expression.
Seeing him staring blankly at her, Su Xuerong was about to walk away with displeasure when she heard the Taoist priest say, "My lady, do you know that you are one in ten thousand with a double phoenix destiny?"
