The carriage fell silent immediately.
The Su and Lin families maintained the same story, telling Su Jian that Chen was too grief-stricken by her mother's passing and had gone out to relax.
Perhaps she'll come back after she's had a good time and cleared her head.
Everyone thought that after a few years, Su Jian would gradually forget his mother, and besides, Chen Shi passed away due to illness, which might make him feel better.
But to his surprise, Su Jian felt that his mother would not come back.
Lin Jinyu and the others looked at Su Xuerong nervously.
Su Xuerong gently rubbed Su Jian's head and said softly, "Your mother has her own ideas. It would be best if she were willing to come back."
Su Jian lowered his head and suddenly burst into silent sobs: "I heard it all... I heard my mother-in-law and my mother arguing that night..."
"It's my mother who wronged my father, sob sob sob..."
Su Xuerong felt a pang of heartache and hugged him tightly: "Jian-ge'er, you've grown up..."
At this point, it's no longer appropriate to tell a white lie.
Su Jian buried his face in her arms and burst into tears.
I don't know how long I cried, but then I heard a laugh from outside the car: "Ah Rong, you've arrived!"
Cui Yun'er lifted the carriage curtain without any hesitation and saw a gloomy atmosphere in the carriage, with the ladies' eyes all red.
"What's going on..."
Su Xuerong quickly wiped away her tears and nudged her nephew in her arms: "Madam Cui has come to pick us up. We were supposed to go hiking and fishing."
Su Jian cried his heart out, and probably felt relieved. He nodded obediently and said "Mmm," then reached out to let Cui Yun'er carry him away.
Lin Jinyu glanced at Su Xuerong, and her face immediately turned crimson.
Su Xuerong belatedly looked down and saw that the little one's tears had soaked the front of her clothes, and a glimpse of her fair and dazzling skin was faintly visible through the bodice under the thin silk robe.
She hurriedly asked Xiuchun to find her clothes and handed Yuanjie to Lin Jinyu so that they could get off the car first.
Xiuchun hurriedly rummaged through the wardrobe in the back of the carriage and found a set of clothes for her to change into on the carriage.
Suddenly, a clear, cold voice came from outside: "Where is Madam Su?"
Su Xuerong had just taken off her outer robe and was about to untie the straps behind her bodice when she heard this voice, and her face instantly turned into a boiled shrimp.
Xiuchun was also startled, her eyes wide with disbelief.
Lin Jinyu said nervously, "My cousin is changing inside..."
Xiao Yuan, mounted on horseback, couldn't help but glance at the tightly covered carriage curtain, and immediately said to the people behind him, "Everyone, go to the front!"
Lin Jinyu, holding Yuanjie'er, saw a group of mounted guards and several officials beside Xiao Yuan rushing past the carriage, none of them daring to stop.
Cui Yun'er smiled and said, "Don't worry, no one dares to look."
Su Xuerong was burning up inside the carriage, and her hands were trembling as she changed her clothes.
What a coincidence! We ran into Xiao Yuan riding over, and that Jin Yu guy just blurted out that he was changing clothes...
After finally changing her clothes and getting off the carriage, Su Xuerong realized that she had entered the manor.
Before you lies a lush forest, and across from you stretches the shores of West Lake. Nestled amidst green hills and clear waters, the Lakeside Hall is elegant and unique, with a delightful view.
This is a different style from Mingxiu Garden, Jujing Garden, and Jinxiu Garden. It has fewer traces of artificial landscaping, but it blends in with the surrounding environment, making people feel more relaxed and happy.
Xiao Yuan and his group had already gone to the back of the manor, so Cui Yun'er directed the servants in the manor to move their luggage to the backyard.
As Su Xuerong led Su Jian by the hand along the covered walkway, she couldn't help but ask, "Didn't the old lady come?"
Cui Yun'er was holding and playing with Yuan Jie'er when she said with a smile, "The old lady has bone pain and doesn't like the dampness here, so she doesn't come."
Su Xuerong breathed a slight sigh of relief, but then suddenly remembered something and couldn't help but look at Cui Yun'er.
Cui Yun'er reached out and pinched Yuan Jie'er's little cheek, feeling rather guilty as she walked forward: "Come on, Auntie will take you to see the birds!"
As you walk around the long corridor, you suddenly hear a series of chirping birds.
Su Jian's eyes widened as he suddenly saw the scene in the garden ahead.
On several tall trees, there were quite a few brightly colored birds of various shapes and sizes.
The birds were not restrained, but stood neatly on the tree trunks in the garden, singing songs of varying pitches.
Yuan-jie stretched out her hands excitedly and started babbling.
Su Jian's eyes lit up, and he finally let go of Su Xuerong's hand and ran forward, looking up at the hundreds of birds with different shapes.
Cui Yun'er said proudly to the two children, "Your auntie brought you here, didn't she? She made the right choice!"
Su Jian immediately forgot his unpleasant experience in the carriage and excitedly pointed to a long-tailed bird overhead, asking, "Auntie, what kind of bird is that?"
"That..." Cui Yun'er didn't know either, and hurriedly beckoned a maid in the garden, "You come and tell the young master."
The maidservant said kindly to Su Jian, "Young master, that's a spotted dove..."
What about that one?
"That's a red-eared bulbul!"
"this?"
"That's a red-billed blue magpie!"
...
Su Jian was overjoyed and followed the maid around the garden, looking at everything.
Seeing his expression, Su Xuerong felt a little relieved.
"The child will temporarily forget his pain when he sees these white birds. In time, he will understand."
A deep voice suddenly came from behind.
Su Xuerong knew it was him without turning around, and immediately said, "Thank you, Your Highness."
At this moment, how could she not understand that this summer retreat was his arrangement?
