As evening fell, the afterglow of the setting sun bathed the campus, and the buildings, basking in the golden sunlight, seemed to be ablaze with warmth. Students, having shaken off their weariness, strolled along the campus paths, enjoying the tranquil moment.
After class, all the other students hurried by, but Lin Yue kept dawdling and procrastinating. She had nowhere to confide her bitterness, and no one could understand her.
"Yuezai, what are you doing? Aren't you coming?" Jiang Li urged her from the side, carrying her bag.
"Um, you go back first, I... I want to read for a while longer."
Jiang Li looked at her suspiciously, then nodded, "Okay, I'll go first then. Call me if you need anything."
Okay, bye-bye.
No sooner had Jiang Li left than Lin Yue, like a wilted eggplant, slumped listlessly onto the desk. Song Yunzheng had caused her to suffer from sleep deprivation every day, dragging her exhausted body to class, and sometimes even drifting off to sleep during class.
Sometimes she wondered if this 31-year-old man was secretly eating something. She could understand having lots of energy, but she couldn't understand why he had so much energy every day.
Just as she was thinking about what excuse to use to reject him tonight, her phone rang. It was Song Yunzheng calling.
Lin Yue answered the phone reluctantly, but her voice immediately became sweet and obedient, "Hello, husband."
"Aren't you done with get out of class yet? I've been waiting for you for ages."
"I'll be right there, I'll be right there, just a moment." Lin Yue's seemingly cheerful tone betrayed a hint of guilt.
After hanging up the phone, she slung her backpack over her shoulder and shuffled out of the classroom like a snail. What's meant to happen will happen; there's no escaping it...
Through the car window, Song Yunzheng saw Lin Yue slowly walking towards him from afar. He turned and opened the passenger door.
After getting into the car, Lin Yue immediately put on a smile brighter than the sun and sweetly called out, "Husband."
Song Yunzheng smiled slightly, pinched her cheek with a half-smile, then turned to help her fasten her seatbelt, and kissed her the instant he looked up.
Lin Yue was like a frightened little rabbit, not daring to move an inch, for fear that he would suddenly become beastly and devour her alive.
After a long while, Song Yunzheng finally moved his lips away, satisfied.
"Honey, it's been so long since we've visited Mom and Dad. Let's go straight to No. 15 Courtyard."
Song Yunzheng raised an eyebrow, a hint of doubt on his face. "How long? Didn't we just go back the day before yesterday?"
"I...I want to eat Zhang Ma's boiled fish fillets, okay?" She had to find a way to stay when she got home tonight, otherwise she wouldn't be able to take the exam tomorrow.
"Okay, I'll call back and ask Aunt Zhang to prepare in advance."
"Okay, thank you, honey. You're so good to me."
He's so stubborn, hurry up and praise him... Let's go back first, then he'll just stay here and refuse to leave.
When Lin Yue got home, she found Yun Xi there too. She was overjoyed. It was good that everyone was back. With more people around, he wouldn't dare to touch her inappropriately.
At the dinner table, Song Yunzheng was very attentive to Lin Yue. She didn't even need to reach for food; whatever she wanted to eat, Song Yunzheng would put it in her bowl before she could even make a move.
Watching from the side, Yunxi couldn't help but jokingly say, "Little sister-in-law, you're so lucky! My brother has never served me any food since I was a child."
"They've never served me anything," Zhou Lirong added.
Song Yunzheng smiled silently, while Lin Yue nodded with a dry laugh. "Yes, I am indeed very happy." That was undeniable, but she would be even happier if he could help her get a good night's sleep.
After finishing their meal, Lin Yue immediately took Yun Xi's arm and sat on the sofa, trying to avoid Song Yunzheng's intense gaze.
With his sharp eyes, Song Yunxi had already noticed the hickey on Lin Yue's neck and couldn't help but cover his mouth and chuckle, "Brother, you're getting on in years, so be gentle with your bites. Look what you've done to your sister-in-law."
Upon hearing this, Lin Yue immediately shrank her neck, wishing she could disappear into the ground.
"Don't tease your sister-in-law. Go on a date with Rong Youze. He's always chasing after you."
"Yueyue, we've eaten, it's time for us to go back." Song Yunzheng said, and then reached out to pull her back.
"Um, honey, I'd like to stay here tonight." Lin Yue clung tightly to Yun Xi's arm, refusing to let go.
"No way!" Song Yunzheng refused without even thinking.
Song Yunxi watched the two of them like a spectator, her eyes darting back and forth... her smile growing ever brighter.
"You have class tomorrow, so it's more convenient to stay at home. It's far from your school, and you'll be late during rush hour."
“If Yueyue wants to stay here, then let her stay. Why won’t you let her?” Zhou Lirong walked over and patted Song Yunzheng on the shoulder.
Lin Yue nodded frantically, as if she had seen a savior, "That's right, that's right."
"Mom, I think it's better if you don't interfere with my brother's decision, otherwise..." Song Yunxi suddenly whispered in Zhou Lirong's ear.
Zhou Lirong's lips curled up wildly as if pulled by a string. "Really?" she exclaimed, her eyes wide with delight as she looked at Lin Yue's belly.
She immediately smiled and stepped forward to take Lin Yue's hand, "Good girl, Mom hasn't made the bed yet, why don't you come back to stay next time?"
When Lin Yue tried to struggle again, Song Yunzheng didn't give her any time. He picked up her bag, pulled her along, and looked towards the study. "Dad, Yueyue and I are going back. Mom, we're leaving."
The little white rabbit was carried away by the big bad wolf against its will.
"Daughter, are you telling the truth?" Zhou Lirong asked excitedly.
