Back to Courtyard No. 1.
Lin Yue came out of the bathroom and immediately saw the person standing on the balcony. He had taken a shower in another bathroom, and his black hair was slightly messy.
Hearing footsteps, Song Yunzheng turned around to look at her. "Finished washing."
Lin Yue nodded slightly and gave a soft "Mmm," "Aren't you going to sleep yet?"
Song Yunzheng raised his hand and pointed to the vast night sky, which was as dark as ink. His voice was gentle, "It's been windy these past two days. The night sky is clean and clear, and there are stars dotting it. Look."
Lin Yue followed the direction of his finger, tilted her head back, looked at the stars, and then looked at him.
Remembering her mother-in-law's instructions, she hesitated, wanting to speak but stopping herself...
After hearing Yunxi's account of the Zhou family's situation, she thought about it again and again on her way back, trying to put herself in Song Yunzheng's shoes and understand his feelings. In fact, she could understand why Song Yunzheng had acted so drastically.
What she couldn't understand was their maternal grandfather, just as she couldn't understand Li Shuhua and Lin Qingguo.
Song Yunzheng looked down at her and found her lost in thought, her gaze calm but her brows slightly furrowed, as if she had something on her mind.
He gazed at her for a moment, then asked softly, "What's wrong? Is something on your mind?"
Lin Yue's eyes trembled slightly as she looked up into his dark eyes, trying to see into his heart and understand his thoughts.
She thought for a moment and whispered, "Mom gave me a task..."
"I told you about the Zhou family."
Lin Yue looked on in astonishment. "How did you know?"
"Because Dad was talking to me about these things in the study, and when he came out he saw you sitting on the sofa with your brows furrowed, so I guessed what was going on."
He paused slightly, a mocking smile playing on his lips. "Some people are very good at acting, but unfortunately I never watch plays. If they annoy me, I'll smash their stage."
Lin Yue stepped forward and hugged him, gently patting his back. "I understand you so well."
Song Yunzheng smiled silently, reached out and hugged her tightly, lowered his head to snuggle against her neck, and sniffed deeply, "So, what task did Mom give you?"
"Let me persuade you, persuade you to go see your grandfather, persuade you not to hold a grudge against him..."
"Do you want me to go see him?" he countered.
He kissed her earlobe, his voice low and deep, "Smells so good."
"It smells like body lotion; you applied it for me last time, didn't you?"
"I really like this flavor."
Song Yunzheng lowered his head slightly, and the distance between the two gradually closed. The little one in his arms began to breathe a little erratically.
He pressed his forehead against hers, their soft breaths mingling together like silk threads.
"Do you want me to go see him?" he asked again.
Her thoughts froze instantly. Lin Yue paused slightly, thinking to herself, "Can she just do whatever she wants?"
"Are you willing?"
“If you want me to go, I will go…” His words were like a gentle stream, clear and pleasant to hear.
Lin Yue blinked her eyes, which were filled with surprise. "Really...really?"
"Yes, really."
Perhaps it's better to let her know things directly than to tell her through someone else.
Lin Yue's lips curved into a wide smile, and she nuzzled her head against his chest. "I'll go with you."
What time is it?
"I came out at 8:30." A soft, sweet voice came from my arms.
"Okay, we should go to sleep."
The next moment, Song Yunzheng scooped her up in his arms and strode toward the bedroom.
Lin Yue nervously clutched his collar, her eyes wide open, as if to say, "Again? Aren't you tired?"
...
Song Yunzheng slept late and woke up early. When he woke up, he saw the little cat on his chest, its hair disheveled and its face slightly flushed, still fast asleep.
Shifting the gaze downwards, the slightly open collar reveals glimpses of snow-capped peaks, their bluish-purple marks a testament to his work the previous night.
He gently pulled her into his arms, pondering her words from the previous night, lost in thought...
"Ding-dong..."
The morning bell is always so annoying. Song Yunzheng frowned and went to open the door.
The moment he opened the door and saw who was standing there, his gaze sharpened, and his brows furrowed instantly.
What are you doing here?
“I’ve come to see you…” It was Zhou Shirong who spoke.
He knew that Song Yunzheng would not go to southern Jiangsu, so he decided to take the initiative and wait for him at his doorstep.
"Aren't you going to invite me in for a seat? I'm your grandfather, after all."
Song Yunzheng initially wanted to refuse, but remembering what he had said to Lin Yue last night, he held back, his face grim, and turned to the side, saying, "Come in."
His tone was indifferent and distant.
Then Zhou Shirong was seen sitting on the sofa in his coat, his disgust in his eyes undisguised.
He turned and went into the bedroom, closed the door, went to the bedside, half-squatted down, and affectionately woke up the person in the bed.
"Honey, wake up, he's here..."
Lin Yue comfortably rolled over and asked groggily, "Who's here?"
"Zhou Shirong".
Two seconds later, her closed eyes suddenly opened, she sat up abruptly, threw off the covers and hurriedly ran into the changing room.
Song Yunzheng followed her inside, gently stroking her long hair. "No rush, take your time getting ready."
"Why did you come so suddenly? You didn't even give us a heads-up. I thought we were going to Sunan City."
Lin Yue quickly changed her clothes. "You go out and keep watch, I'll go wash up first."
"Take your time, no rush," he added.
When Lin Yue came out after washing up, she felt that the atmosphere in the living room was a bit strange. It was so quiet that it seemed as if the air had frozen. The only sounds were the ticking of the clock and the faint sound of breathing.
When my gaze fell on the elderly man sitting upright on the sofa, I was immediately struck by his appearance. His full head of silver hair was neatly combed, and he was in high spirits. His face was thin but still had distinct features, and his eyes revealed depth and wisdom.
