It was past ten o'clock at night when Song Yunzheng finally returned home, looking exhausted. He changed his shoes, hung up his coat, and walked into the living room, rubbing his temples.
A faint, pleasant fragrance wafted over, instantly relaxing me. Looking up, I saw a bottle of essential oil on the coffee table and a person fast asleep on the sofa, curled up in a small ball.
The thin blanket had also fallen onto the carpet. He chuckled and shook his head. Coming home to such a heartwarming scene made all the fatigue of the day disappear.
He then turned around, went into the bathroom to wash his hands, and then changed into some loungewear in the changing room. Only after making sure he was clean did he walk over to the sofa and squat down.
Reaching out, he picked up the thin blanket and gently covered Lin Yue with it. Only a warm-colored wall lamp was left on in the living room, casting a warm yellow light on her. A shadow fell under her long, curled eyelashes, and her small mouth was slightly pouting, with what looked like a little glistening liquid at the corner of her mouth.
A warm smile remained on his lips as he reached out and pulled out a tissue to gently wipe her mouth.
Perhaps disturbing her sweet dream, Lin Yue frowned slightly, then slowly opened her eyes and saw Song Yunzheng squatting in front of her. She immediately sat up with a smile.
"You just got back?"
He shook his head. "I've been back for a while now. I saw you were sleeping soundly, so I didn't want to wake you."
He gently brushed his long, slender fingers against the corner of her lips. "You're drooling."
"Huh? No way?" Lin Yue hurriedly wiped it haphazardly.
"It's already wiped off." He waved the tissue in his hand.
Lin Yue scratched her head somewhat embarrassedly.
"Oh, by the way, have you eaten?" She looked up at him.
Song Yunzheng shook his head, "I've been busy and haven't had time to..."
"That won't do!" Lin Yue hurriedly interrupted her, getting up to head to the kitchen.
He grabbed her arm. "Where are you going?"
I'll cook you some dumplings.
"No, I'm not hungry..."
I'm hungry.
Hearing her say that, Song Yunzheng was slightly taken aback. Hungry? Didn't you eat enough for dinner?
Since he's been busy lately, leaving early and returning late, he hasn't had time to cook for her, so he told Zhang's mother in advance to come over and cook for her at noon and in the evening.
Zhang Ma's cooking skills had long won over her stomach, and every time she returned to Courtyard No. 15, she would eat an extra bowl of rice than usual.
Thinking of this, he reached out and touched her stomach, startling Lin Yue so much that she jumped back a step. "What are you doing? Are you trying to tickle me again?"
"Feel if you're really hungry."
"I...I really am hungry, so what? Is that not allowed?"
"Okay, I'll cook it for you." Song Yunzheng said with a hint of helplessness.
He was afraid she would eat too much and hurt her stomach, while she was afraid he wouldn't eat and would harm his health.
Soon, a fragrant aroma wafted from the kitchen. Lin Yue walked over and leaned against the door, watching him. He was chopping scallions, each slice rhythmically. Seeing the water in the pot boiling, he poured in a bowl of cold water and continued cooking.
"Tell me in advance if you want dumplings next time, and I'll make them for you. Eat less frozen ones." He was tidying up the table when he suddenly turned around and glanced at the person at the door.
"This isn't frozen," Lin Yue quickly explained. "It's freshly made at Fresh Supermarket. I bought it especially for you. It's filled with water chestnuts, shiitake mushrooms, and pork."
Song Yunzheng scooped out the dumplings, put them on a plate, and also scooped out a bowl of soup, and brought them all to the dining table.
As she passed by Lin Yue, she remarked, "My dumplings are even tastier."
"On New Year's Eve, I want to eat the dumplings you make. I want to eat thirty of them!"
Okay~
The dumplings were cooked to perfection, and Lin Yue ate one after another, while Song Yunzheng ate very little. He watched her quietly and couldn't help but sigh, "It's so good to be young; you can eat and sleep so well."
...
The night was deep and quiet, but the bathroom light remained on, and the sounds of flushing and vomiting could be heard intermittently…
Song Yunzheng, who was fast asleep, suddenly heard a sound and sat up abruptly. He rushed to the bathroom door and knocked anxiously, "Yueyue, what's wrong? Did you eat something bad?" Only the sound of painful vomiting answered him from inside.
He was extremely anxious and pushed the door open. He saw Lin Yue leaning against the wall, pale-faced, and weakly saying, "I don't know what happened. I suddenly felt unwell, nauseous, and kept vomiting."
Do you have diarrhea?
"Yes, I pooped three times..."
What did Aunt Zhang make for you for lunch?
Lin Yue's weak gaze paused, she hesitated for a moment, glanced at him, lowered her head, and whispered, "I...I didn't let Aunt Zhang come over today. I ate hot and sour noodles outside for lunch..."
After hearing this, Song Yunzheng felt his eyes twitch and his breathing became heavy with anger. Seeing her pitiful appearance, he couldn't bear to say anything to her.
"Go to the hospital first, we'll settle the bill after you've recovered!"
In the hospital, Lin Yue lay on the bed receiving an IV drip, her blood and energy completely drained. She half-opened her eyes, looking at Song Yunzheng beside her bed with a wronged expression and deep regret in her eyes.
Song Yunzheng touched her forehead and sighed, "Don't say anything, just rest well. I'll stay here with you."
The test results showed food poisoning, caused by eating unclean food, resulting in vomiting and diarrhea. In addition, her stomach was fragile and sensitive, so the reaction was even more severe.
Lin Yue said softly, "I'm sorry..."
"Don't apologize to me. You should apologize to your own stomach. How many times has this happened? Can you even count?"
She lowered her eyes and pouted, "It won't happen again."
"Alright, close your eyes and get some sleep. I'll have Uncle Wu come pick you up tomorrow morning."
At five o'clock in the morning, it was still pitch black outside the window. In her drowsy state, Lin Yue suddenly heard her phone vibrate. It was a message coming in from Song Yunzheng's phone.
