Chapter 178 Climbing Over the Wall

Lin Yue followed the navigation to the suburban villa where Song Yunzheng lived.

There's a saying: "Where there's a will, there's a way." Not only did they prevent her from coming, but they also kept the location a secret from her. Luckily, she was careful last night and secretly installed a tracking app on his phone while he was asleep. Otherwise, she would have gone crazy if she woke up to find that he had secretly slipped away!

The majestic and solemn gate, the towering walls, and the surrounding silence were so profound that time seemed to have stood still. The only sound was the rustling of leaves in the wind, a plaintive sound that seemed to be telling some secret.

A few streetlights stood alone by the roadside, emitting a cold white light.

Night had fallen, and the world was shrouded in inky darkness. Strange bird calls echoed from the woods from time to time, their voices like ghostly whispers, sending chills down Lin Yue's spine.

Looking at the dozen or so missed calls on his phone screen, then at the high wall in front of him, he couldn't help but wonder, "How am I supposed to get in? I can't exactly climb over the wall, can I? But it seems there's no other way..."

After observing the terrain, Lin Yue rolled up her sleeves and got to work. Using the tree trunks next to the wall, she quickly climbed up the wall.

While climbing, I didn't realize how high the wall was, but after I got to the top, I truly felt its height, and my legs started to feel weak uncontrollably.

Lin Yue crouched down, peering down, and a chill ran through her. This... this was indeed quite high. Falling from this height wouldn't kill her, but she'd likely lose an arm or a leg...

The fingers gripping the wall tightened unconsciously.

There were no lights in the villa's courtyard, and in the dim light, Lin Yue couldn't find a place to stand. She slowly moved towards the front gate, hoping to get down from there.

There's more rain this season than any other. Just yesterday, it rained lightly, enough to nourish everything.

The damp walls still had cold water stains, and Lin Yue swayed with every step she took, feeling terrified.

As she continued moving forward, she suddenly touched something sticky and soft. Lin Yue picked it up with two fingers and looked at it closely in the dim light.

The next instant, the sticky thing began to wriggle, as if defying her...

"Ah!!! Slug!" Lin Yue screamed and shook her hand.

In that instant, he completely forgot that he was standing on a high wall and was at risk of falling at any moment.

The excessive swinging motion, or perhaps disgusted by the slugs, caused his body to sway uncontrollably. Then, his foot slipped, and his entire body fell forward like a kite with a broken string.

In the instant she lunged forward, she reacted swiftly, gripping the edge of the wall tightly, her fingers almost digging into it.

Lin Yue dangled from the wall, her legs swaying wildly, and began to wail and scream, "Song Yunzheng! Song Yunzheng! Help! Save me! Song Yunzheng—"

She felt she was about to give up, and when she turned her head, oh my god, it was really high! If she fell, her legs would definitely break. She was filled with regret. Why did she have to climb over the wall? She just asked for trouble!

"Song Yunzheng! Song Yunzheng! Waaaaah... Help! I'm falling! Song Yunzheng—"

Lin Yue screamed hysterically and, quite pathetically, burst into tears.

In the study on the second floor, Song Yunzheng was reading a book when he vaguely heard someone calling him. Puzzled, he closed the book, opened the balcony door, and looked into the distance by the light from inside the room.

There was a dark shadow hanging on the wall. Was it an object or a person? I couldn't see it very clearly, so I squinted to examine it.

Until I heard that tearful cry for help again.

"Help! Song Yunzheng! Save me! I can't hold on much longer! Song Yunzheng—"

Why does that voice sound so much like a little girl's?! Did she secretly follow me? A bad feeling swept over me, and my half-closed fox eyes suddenly widened. Without thinking, I turned and rushed out of the room.

Sneaking in secretly! Climbing over the wall! Getting stuck on the wall and unable to get down! Isn't that just like that girl's style!

Song Yunzheng ran to the wall with a dark face. When he saw that the person on the wall was indeed Lin Yue, his breath hitched and his heart seemed to stop for a few seconds.

He rushed forward, tilted his head back, opened his arms, and suppressed the urge to spank her. He said gently, "Yueyue, don't be afraid. Slowly let go. I'll catch you down here."

Before Lin Yue could even prepare herself mentally, her fingers had already stretched to their limit. Suddenly, she let go, her fingertips scraping against the wall as her body plummeted downwards.

Finally, she fell into a warm embrace.

Song Yunzheng carried her straight to the bedroom on the second floor and carefully put her down.

"What are you doing?!" Song Yunzheng scolded, his face dark. "Are you tired of living?"

The deep reprimand startled Lin Yue, who trembled slightly. She retorted defiantly, "You're blaming me? It's all your fault! If you hadn't ignored my calls, would I have had to climb over the wall?"

The more I thought about it, the more wronged I felt. My fingertips went from being numb at the beginning to now being slightly painful.

Seeing her disheveled appearance, even the greatest anger in his heart dissipated by half, and the words he wanted to scold her were stuck in his throat, unable to come out or come down.

Song Yunzheng sighed helplessly, pulled her to the sink, and washed her dirty hands clean.

He turned around and sat down on a chair next to him, disinfecting the wound with iodine.

"You dare to climb such a high wall? If there weren't a wall, were you planning to climb into my room from the first floor?"

"Yes," Lin Yue answered truthfully.

Song Yunzheng was taken aback after hearing this, and rolled his eyes at her, saying, "I married a little wife, not a little monkey."

"You still remember I'm your wife? You sneaked away without a word, is that something a grown man like you would do? This isn't caring about me, it's selfishness! You forced your ideas onto me, you tried to handle this in your own way, but what was the result? I live in constant fear. All I want is to know where you are. You want some alone time, fine, I'll give that to you. I just want to know your real and exact location. Is that too much to ask? If I hadn't been quick-witted, I wouldn't have seen you for months."

Lin Yue finished speaking in one breath, angrily pulled her arm back, and turned away from him.

Suddenly, the wind outside the window picked up and blew it open a crack. Song Yunzheng glanced at her, then got up and went to close the window.

"Go take a shower first, and I'll have Zhuang Yucheng take you home tomorrow."

"No! I don't want to go back. I finally managed to get in here, and you're going to kick me out?"

Lin Yue pinched her inner thigh almost imperceptibly, and her big eyes immediately filled with tears, giving her a pitiful look that seemed to evoke pity.

Her tears were his Achilles' heel.

Song Yunzheng hurriedly turned his head away, not daring to look at her again. His low voice seemed to be squeezed out from his chest: "Yueyue, can you stay away from me for now?"

The closer she got, the more afraid he became.

A voice kept reminding him in his mind: "If it weren't for you, Lin Yue wouldn't have been hurt. It's all because of you, it's all your fault..."

The words "cause and effect, retribution" were etched into his heart like a curse. He feared she would be hurt because of it; all he wished for now was for her to be safe and healthy.

Lin Yue abruptly stood up, walked up to him, looked at him seriously, and spoke slowly and deliberately, her voice filled with determination, "Impossible! Don't even think about it! Don't even think about hiding from me!"
