"No! Why would I be in a hurry? I'm just worried about you. I'm afraid you'll forget to check your phone and cause problems. After all, you're a doctor, so there must be a lot of people looking for you."
Lin Yue was flustered and anxious after her secret thoughts were exposed. Her eyes darted around involuntarily, and her voice was louder than usual.
Song Yunzheng leaned back lazily in his chair, his hands clasped above his lower abdomen, his right thumb rubbing the wedding ring on his left ring finger, staring at her with a half-smile, watching her lose her composure.
"Want to see my phone?" He raised an eyebrow.
The next moment, he handed her the phone, slightly raising his chin to indicate that she should take it.
Lin Yue froze for a moment, blinked, and muttered to herself, "Did he misunderstand me? No, is this man's brain blocked?"
She immediately shook her head. "That's not what I meant. Why would I look at your phone? I...I just...I just...oh, I was just worried you might miss some important news. Never mind, look or don't look, I'm leaving."
Lin Yue quickly turned and left the study; any further explanation would give her away.
The study door was gently closed, leaving a crack through which a pair of beautiful black eyes gleamed.
Song Yunzheng glanced at the swaying shadow on the ground by the door, a helpless smile playing on his lips. He really didn't know what strange things were going on in that girl's head.
The moment he picked up his phone, the shadowy figure at the door seemed to be frozen in place, immediately holding its breath, its heart leaping into its throat, anxiously watching his every move through the crack in the door.
The next instant, faint, heart-pounding sounds came from the phone...
However, the old man's facial expression was far too calm! Completely devoid of emotion, it even revealed obvious disgust, as if the voice was a desecration of his ears.
He's definitely just pretending to be serious!
Lin Yue quickly darted into the kitchen, cut some fruit, and came out. Taking a deep breath at the study doorway, she pushed open the door with her brightest smile, "Honey, time for fruit..."
Seeing that his gaze remained fixed on the phone screen, she raised an eyebrow, and the corners of her mouth couldn't help but curve upwards.
Then, while placing the fruit next to him, she peeked at his phone screen.
The next moment, she covered her mouth in feigned surprise, her eyes filled with disbelief, as if she had witnessed some earth-shattering secret.
"Honey, so you like this kind of thing?"
Song Yunzheng glanced at her speechlessly, turned off his phone, and tossed it onto his desk.
"Is this what you wanted me to see?"
Lin Yue was never good at lying, especially in front of Song Yunzheng. She was like a transparent person, and nothing could be hidden from his eyes.
Her little scheme was completely exposed. Although she was feeling incredibly guilty, she still tried to remain calm and blinked innocently, "What did you say? What do you mean I want you to see? I don't have that."
"Whether it's there or not, I'll find out by looking." Before Lin Yue could react, he moved swiftly and snatched her phone.
"Ah! Give it back!" Lin Yue stamped her feet in frustration.
"I'll check it myself, or you can just tell me honestly. Choose one."
"I...I..." Lin Yue stammered for a long time without being able to say anything coherent. She lowered her head and twisted the hem of her clothes with her hands like a pretzel.
"I... I just noticed you haven't reacted at all these past two days, so I wanted to find something to provoke you."
After saying that, she didn't forget to sneak a peek at him like a thief, and muttered fearlessly, "Who knows if you're just pretending to be serious..."
Song Yunzheng glared at her, his voice stern, "You're not allowed to send me this kind of nonsense again, and you're not allowed to look at it either!"
A jumble of random things?
Lin Yue suddenly looked up and stared directly at him, "Then doesn't your study have a lot of this kind of messy stuff? You look at it and then deny it, you're just blaming the cook after you've eaten your fill..."
Hearing her mention it, Song Yunzheng remembered the things in the drawer of the study in Courtyard No. 1...
"I haven't seen those things, and I didn't buy them!" He raised his hand and rubbed his temples, as if this topic was giving him a real headache.
"You didn't buy it? Or was it a gift? Who would be so tasteless?"
"Tang Shiting, he's just so tasteless."
"Huh?" Lin Yue was slightly taken aback, and the atmosphere instantly became awkward. "Teacher Tang... he..."
"He is a hypocrite who looks virtuous but is actually sanctimonious."
Lin Yue was speechless after being rebuked, and the momentum he had just gained vanished instantly. But then he thought, he could have refused if he didn't want it. He silently accepted it and even hid it, just because he wanted to find an opportunity to secretly look at it!
"Do you dare say you didn't want to watch? You were secretly watching for a long time just now."
"Why would I want to see it? Didn't you tell me to watch it just now?" Song Yunzheng said slowly, looking relaxed.
"You...you're just being stubborn. Do you dare say you didn't react when you saw it? I saw you frown."
"Does frowning mean I'm reacting? Why should I react?"
"This is a perfectly normal physiological reaction!"
Upon hearing this, Song Yunzheng's lips curled slightly, a half-smile playing on his lips, and he asked in a low voice, "Then you must have carefully examined it before sending it to me, so you had a reaction?"
Lin Yue froze on the spot. The next moment, a blush as bright as the sunset crept up her cheeks, her face turning red, and she stammered, "I...I didn't..."
"It's a normal physiological reaction, how come you didn't have it?"
"I didn't!" Lin Yue shouted in protest.
