Upon entering Xinrongji, a waiter led them to a seat by the window. Lin Yue flipped through the menu, her mouth practically watering. She tugged at Song Yunzheng's arm, "It all looks so delicious! Can I order whatever I want?"
"certainly."
"No, I have trouble making decisions, you should do it." I want to eat every dish, it's really hard to choose, so I can only leave this age-old problem to someone else.
Song Yunzheng took the menu and began ordering, "Yellow croaker, steamed prawns with Shaoxing wine, water chestnuts, Wagyu beef tart, foie gras in red wine..."
He glanced up at Lin Yue's excited little face, then added, "Order these for now, and add more if it's not enough."
"Okay, please wait a moment."
These are all dishes he has tried and found quite good. They are prepared with care and are not cheap. He believes she will like them.
After the dishes were served, Lin Yue looked at the yellow croaker in front of her, swallowed hard, and hesitated, holding her chopsticks, unsure where to start. She remembered getting a fishbone stuck in her throat as a child, a deep one that required three days in the hospital, and ever since then, she avoided fish altogether. Finally, she picked up a piece of foie gras and put it in her mouth. Wow, this was so delicious! The texture was soft, smooth, and melted in her mouth, with a subtle aroma of red wine. Her eyes widened in amazement.
Song Yunzheng watched her constantly changing facial expressions, smiled silently, and pushed the water chestnuts in front of her, saying, "I ordered these especially for you, have a taste."
Lin Yue puffed out her cheeks and nodded. "Thank you."
Seeing that she had tasted all the dishes except for the yellow croaker, which she only looked at but did not touch, Song Yunzheng seemed to sense her hesitation. He silently picked out the fish meat, made sure there were no bones, and then put it in her bowl. "Eat it, these pieces are boneless."
Lin Yue looked up in surprise, her mouth still full of foie gras, her eyes darting around as she stared at him intently. Seeing him focused on picking out the fish bones, a certain string in her heart was struck hard this time. How did he know I didn't want to pick out the fish bones?
"Fish should be eaten while it's hot, otherwise it will taste fishy." Song Yunzheng placed the fish he had selected back into her bowl, and when he looked up, his eyes met her burning gaze.
Lin Yue hurriedly looked away, picked up a piece of fish and stuffed it into her mouth, "Thank you, it's delicious."
Song Yunzheng smiled without saying a word, his hands never stopping as he carefully picked out the fish bones. In no time, he had cleaned the small yellow croaker, and all the meat went into Lin Yue's stomach.
Seeing her eating so happily, he felt a surge of joy in his heart. It's good to be full; only when you're full will you have the energy to face each morning's exercise from now on.
"Why aren't you eating?" Lin Yue looked at the fish bones on the plate and realized that he hadn't eaten a single bite!
"I'm not hungry, and besides, I quite enjoy watching you eat."
"You like watching me eat? Why?"
"It feels like feeding pigs, and it's very fulfilling."
You, Song Yunzheng, how dare you make fun of me for eating so much! You're the pig, your whole family is! Of course, she only dared to say these words in her heart. In reality, she just sat there sulking, turning her head away to avoid looking at him.
Just then, a group of young people, four men and three women, suddenly entered through the door. It seemed they were there for a meal. The girl who entered first was Gu Chaoyan, whom they hadn't seen in a long time. Among the men were two familiar faces: Ji Huai from the Computer Science Department and Cheng Shuyu, Jiang Li's little puppy.
Gu Chaoyan greeted them gently, "It's my treat today, everyone order whatever you like, don't be shy. Whether we can win the badminton college league depends on everyone." She spoke to everyone, but her eyes were fixed on Ji Huai.
Ji Huai remained silent, fiddling with his phone, while Cheng Shuyu smiled nonchalantly, "This is all we should do, you don't need to be so polite." There was no need to come up with such a lame excuse and go through all this trouble just to invite Ji Huai to dinner.
"Ji Huai, take a look at the menu. Is there anything you'd like to eat?" Gu Chaoyan kindly handed him the menu.
"No need, you guys order." He was dragged here by his teammates because everyone knew that if Ji Huai didn't come, they wouldn't be able to eat.
Why does that voice sound so familiar? Lin Yue put down her chopsticks, suddenly looked up, and followed the sound. Just then, Gu Chaoyan's gaze drifted in their direction, and their eyes met silently.
Song Yunzheng happened to be facing away from them, and Gu Chaoyan, being oblivious, didn't notice. She mistakenly thought that Lin Yue was having an affair with another man behind her husband's back, and walked over with a smug look on her face.
"Isn't this the famous Lin Yue? Why isn't Brother Yun Zheng with you? And who is this next to you...?"
Before she could finish speaking, Song Yunzheng suddenly turned around, his sharp, hawk-like eyes gleaming with a cold light. Even without saying a word, his aura was so overwhelming that Gu Chaoyan couldn't help but take two steps back.
"Yun... Brother Yunzheng, it's you."
"Am I the strange one?" His deep voice was completely flat, and his icy gaze offered no warmth whatsoever.
"No, no, you guys take your time eating, I won't bother you any longer." Gu Chaoyan fled in a panic, afraid of angering the cold and indifferent man.
When she called out Lin Yue's name, Ji Huai immediately looked up and saw that it was indeed her. She was also eating here. Before he could even feel happy, he saw another man sitting next to her. Who was he? He looked cool and aloof, yet exuded an undeniable air of nobility. Was he an elder in the family?
Under Gu Chaoyan's astonished gaze, he involuntarily stepped forward, "Lin Yue, do you still remember me?" His eyes were full of hope.
"Huh? I don't remember. Which alumnus are you?" Lin Yue couldn't help but groan inwardly. Dude, are you blind? Didn't you see the dark look on the face of the man next to me? You still dare to walk right into the line of fire! Song Yunzheng was staring at her with narrowed eyes, like a hunting fox, and she was the prey. If she dared to say that he knew her, he would bite her neck off!
