The sycamore trees, weathered by the elements, sway gracefully in the strong winter wind, their golden leaves fluttering like butterflies, eventually carpeting the stone path.
On the lake, a lone boat floats leisurely, gently breaking the tranquility of the water.
In a tavern on a winter night, the lights reflect warmth, and the wine in the glass warms the heart.
Under the cover of night, the black Mercedes pulled up in front of the tavern.
After Xu Muyao got out of the car, he went straight into the tavern, where a waiter greeted him with a smile, "Hello, how many of you?"
"I have an appointment, Mr. Su."
The waiter glanced at the order form in his hand, confirmed it, and immediately stepped aside to guide him inside, saying, "Sir, this way please."
Following the waiter to a secluded private room, Xu Muyao saw only Su Wenqian. He couldn't help but raise an eyebrow, thinking how rare it was.
"I've finally managed to get you out of seclusion. You're even harder to invite than Zhuge Liang, who lived in seclusion deep in the mountains. In ancient times, Liu Bei visited Zhuge Liang's thatched cottage three times, and now Su Wenqian visited the teahouse six times. It wasn't until the seventh visit that I finally managed to get you to come. It wasn't easy for me. No way, you have to have a good drink with me tonight. We won't leave until we're drunk."
Su Wenqian deliberately put on a heartbroken expression.
Xu Muyao raised his eyelids and gave a faint "hmm".
"Why are you the only one here today? Have you changed your personality?"
Su Wenqian placed the poured wine in front of him with a nonchalant smile, "What are you saying? What do you mean by changing your nature? I've always been a gentleman, okay? I can pass through a sea of flowers without a single petal sticking to me."
Xu Muyao smiled calmly, "That's strange. You can say that to people who don't know you. I know you better than your father does."
Su Wenqian was speechless after being rebuked, and could only shake his head with a helpless smile.
"With your sharp tongue, no wonder you made that young girl run away..."
Before he could finish speaking, Xu Muyao turned his head slightly, his gaze as cold as ice.
Su Wenqian immediately backed down and quickly made a shushing gesture, "Okay, okay, I won't mention it anymore."
Xu Muyao picked up his wine glass, tilted his head back and drank it all in one gulp. His gaze was fixed on the desolate night scene outside the window. His expression was calm and composed, and the steadiness in his eyes was like the cold moon in the cold night, clear and aloof.
Before long, new customers arrived at the tavern.
A man and a woman. The man was tall and handsome; the woman was pure and graceful, like a lotus emerging from the water. Her waist-length hair fell naturally to her chest, and the slightly curled ends added a touch of playfulness. Her lively doe eyes seemed to be able to speak.
The girl looked across the crowd, her gaze subtly searching for something. Su Wenqian, who was leisurely holding a wine glass, noticed her looking over. The two exchanged a knowing glance, then quickly looked away, pretending to be calm as they looked elsewhere.
"Xunzhi, it's your birthday tonight, I'll treat you." The girl took the boy's arm and smiled sweetly.
The boy looked down at her and said affectionately, "Okay."
The moment the two appeared in the tavern, they quickly attracted the attention of many people.
"A perfect match, a match made in heaven, truly a wonderful couple." Such exclamations could be faintly heard from the crowd.
Jiang also took Zhou Xunzhi's arm and walked inside, choosing a seat that happened to be at the table behind Xu Muyao.
The man, seemingly absorbed in the night view outside the window or the wine in his glass, remained oblivious to his surroundings. He drank silently, not uttering a word.
A thin mist floated in his dark eyes, his gaze unfocused, unconsciously revealing a thoughtful expression.
However, Su Wenqian on the other side simply curled the corners of his lips into a casual smile, a smile that was lazy, carefree, and unrestrained.
He couldn't help but laugh at the thought of the good show to come.
The sound of conversation kept coming from behind him. The clear and playful voices made Xu Muyao's chest tremble violently. He turned around in surprise and looked in the direction of the voices. Then he stopped as if he had been frozen in place.
In the dim light, the girl's back view was graceful and serene, like the rising moon, bringing warmth and joy to people's hearts.
She resembles her, yet it's uncertain whether it is.
He stared silently at the girl's back, as if trying to imprint his gaze on her back.
His gaze was as intense as a burning flame, impossible to ignore. Even with only his back to her, she could clearly feel his burning gaze.
Jiang tried her best to calm her wildly beating heart, took a deep breath, and turned around as if nothing had happened.
When their eyes met, the air seemed to freeze.
With just one glance, she caught the man's slightly trembling pupils, his eyes filled with complex emotions.
"Hey, what a coincidence, you're here too. It seems we're really destined to meet."
Jiang also smiled, revealing her brightest smile, and waved to greet them.
Xu Muyao's throat tightened, and he managed to force out a smile that was more like a grimace in response, a bitter ripple rising in his heart.
His gaze gradually shifted from her to the man behind her...
Was that her new love? Xu Muyao felt a tightness in his chest.
The next moment, Jiang also stood up, pulled Zhou Xunzhi directly to Xu Muyao's table, and asked softly, "Mind if we share a table? It'll be more fun with more people."
"Not at all! Of course not!" Su Wenqian quickly chimed in, patting the chair next to him with a roguish grin, gesturing for them to sit down.
"Little sister, who is this person next to you?" Su Wenqian crossed his legs and deliberately dragged out his voice.
"Oh, right, I should introduce you. This is my good friend, Zhou Xunzhi."
She then turned to the boy beside her, "Xunzhi, this is Uncle Xu, the owner of Qian San Teahouse, and that is Su Wenqian, President Su."
