After November, the weather got colder day by day, but Lin Yue still couldn't escape the daily morning run. Song Yunzheng would drag her out of bed at five o'clock every morning. Only rainy days could save her from this ordeal. She used to hate rainy days the most, but she started to look forward to rain and even pray for rain!
However, everything has two sides. After being tormented by him for a while, she clearly felt that her physical strength had improved, her body was lighter than before, her daily routine had become more regular, she no longer dozed off in class, and most importantly, her skin was more delicate and fair! Suddenly she understood Song Yunzheng's good intentions and stopped blaming him.
On Tuesday, there was only one class in the afternoon. As soon as get out of class ended, Jiang Li dragged Lin Yue to the badminton hall to find the "little puppy." After adding each other on WeChat, the two chatted for a while and quickly got together.
"Yuezai, ever since you moved out of the dorm and started living with your husband, he picks you up after class and I only see you in class. I'm not saying this to be mean, but your husband is watching you way too closely, isn't he? If I want to hang out with you in the future, will I have to ask him for permission first?"
"Nonsense! Come here, look at my head, isn't it glowing?" I clearly don't want to be a third wheel and be subjected to PDA!
Jiang Li actually stood on tiptoe to take a closer look. "Your head isn't glowing, but your face is definitely glowing. What good stuff did you secretly use? You weren't being pampered by your husband day and night, were you?"
"Nourishing"? Having lived together for so long, the most intimate thing they've ever done is that forceful kiss at the door. Is it that she lacks charm, or that he's not good enough?
Lin Yue rolled her eyes at her. "Looks like love really does make people stupid. Hurry up and go inside, egg yolk! Big mango!"
The sky outside was shrouded in a thick layer of cotton-like dark clouds, gloomy and as if it were about to rain. Inside, the sports field was like a heated battlefield, with a passionate atmosphere.
"Shall we play a game?"
Lin Yue glanced at her short skirt and knee-high boots. "Are you sure you can play basketball like that? Aren't you afraid of twisting your ankle?"
"Of course, no problem. Don't underestimate me?" Before Lin Yue could speak, Jiang Li turned and walked towards Cheng Shuyu. "Baby, can I borrow your racket for a game?"
Cheng Shuyu reacted the same way as Lin Yue, "No, you're not dressed like that for playing basketball. It's easy to get injured, and it's also easy to... expose yourself."
"Hey, you say so too? Then do I look good in this?" Jiang Li walked up and hooked her arm around his neck, winking playfully.
Cheng Shuyu blushed instantly, completely unable to resist her teasing. "So...beautiful." He didn't dare to linger on her face for even a second and hurriedly looked away.
The more he acted like this, the more Jiang Li liked it, and she couldn't help but tease him, "So, do you like it?"
"I like it." After uttering those two words forcefully, his Adam's apple bobbed up and down, and his ears began to blush.
"Then why can't I play basketball dressed like this? I can guarantee I won't get injured."
"I don't want other men staring at you." The stadium is almost entirely filled with men, and he wants his girlfriend to feel comfortable dressing up and being herself in a safe environment. He absolutely will not allow any malicious glances to covet her.
She was satisfied with his answer and smiled sweetly, "Okay, I'll listen to you. I'll sit next to you and cheer you on."
"Okay." Cheng Shuyu returned to the court with a flushed face. Jiang Li's teasing seemed to have given him a boost, and he smashed the ball repeatedly, leaving his teammates with no chance to fight back.
As soon as Ji Huai came off the court, he saw Lin Yue from afar. Seeing her standing there alone, he hesitated whether to go over and say hello. She was his type, but she was married, which was a huge blow to him. Even now, he still couldn't quite believe it. She had just passed the legal age, so how could she be married? Was it a voluntary marriage? After thinking it over, he still walked over without thinking and greeted her as if she were an ordinary friend.
"Lin Yue, are you alone?"
Lin Yue turned around at the sound, her brows furrowing slightly. Why was it him again? "I came with a friend." She pointed to Jiang Li, who was cheering for her boyfriend not far away.
Ji Huai looked in the direction she was pointing. So she was Cheng Shuyu's girlfriend? And also Lin Yue's friend.
"Want to play?" He waved his racket. "I can be your sparring partner."
He's going to be her sparring partner? If Song Yunzheng knew that, he'd probably change his 5 a.m. morning run to 4 a.m. Just thinking about it makes my legs tremble.
She quickly waved her hand in refusal, "No, no, I don't really want to play. I'm not feeling well today." She was indeed feeling unwell; her lower abdomen had been aching, a sign that her period was about to start.
"Are you... really married?" After hesitating for a while, he still asked, unwilling to give up, hoping to confirm it one more time.
Lin Yue paused, looking at him with a puzzled expression. Do men love gossip this much too? "Yes, I'm married."
"I'd never heard of you dating before, how come you're suddenly getting married?"
"This is my private matter, there's no need to tell everyone." Her furrowed brows and cold tone showed that she was extremely displeased with the question he asked.
Ji Huai felt a mix of emotions, a wave of disappointment washing over him. Yet, he was also bewitched, unable to resist wanting to talk to her more, to look at her more. The image of her playful, mischievous self as she sat on Gu Chaoyan's lap drawing a turtle was deeply etched into his memory. After learning of her marriage, he repeatedly told himself to know when to stop, not to get too involved, that friendship was enough. But his heart was like a wild horse, untamable. She was like a bottomless quagmire; one foot was already in, struggling to escape, only to sink deeper.
A thunderclap exploded in her ears, startling Lin Yue. Then, dense raindrops, like bullets, pounded against the glass, making a crackling sound.
