Chapter 5 Going to the Bar

Lin Yue stood panting outside the lobby on the first floor, glancing back every now and then. After all that commotion, her pale and weak face now had a blush, as if she had applied blush.

After calming down, I started to reflect, "No, why am I acting so guilty? Am I afraid that Ms. Li won't notice? No, no, no... I have to calm down, I have to stay calm, just like him, pretend I don't know him, yes, that's it!"

A moment later, Li Shuhua came out of the lobby carrying a box of medicine. He stopped in front of Lin Yue, looked her up and down, and asked with narrowed eyes, "Why were you running so fast just now? Do you know that Dr. Song?"

Lin Yue froze. She… figured it out? When did her eyes become so sharp? No! I have to stay calm! What if she's deliberately trying to trick me?

"Huh? Really? I was just in a hurry to use the restroom, how could I possibly know that doctor? You know my social circle, Mom, what are you thinking?" Lin Yue subconsciously touched her nose, feeling incredibly guilty.

"Oh? Really? Then why do I feel like Dr. Song is looking at you like she knows you?"

If Song Yunzheng's gaze towards Lin Yue while wearing a mask was that of a doctor showing concern for a patient, then his gaze after removing the mask was anything but innocent, and Li Shuhua easily discerned it.

"Mom, you're really a bit obsessed! If someone looks at me twice, you think they know me. Oh, stop thinking like that, I still have to take you to school, or you'll be late." Lin Yue said as she pulled Li Shuhua toward the parking lot, not giving her a chance to speak.

She was restless the whole way until Li Shuhua dropped her off at the school gate.

"Mom, I'm going in!" Lin Yue unbuckled her seatbelt and prepared to get out of the car.

"Wait," Li Shuhua called out to her, "Is there something you're hiding from me?"

Lin Yue's heart skipped a beat. Had she been found out after all?

“You are my daughter, don’t I know you well? From childhood to adulthood, you always like to touch your nose when you lie.”

Lin Yue was immediately embarrassed and felt ashamed, realizing that the other woman had seen through her little trick all along.

“Yueyue, I don’t think I’ve ever interfered with your friendships. You clearly know that Dr. Song, so why did you lie?” Li Shuhua said earnestly.

Huh? That's it? Lin Yue breathed a sigh of relief. Luckily, she didn't suspect anything else and thought that Song Yunzheng was just someone she knew.

"I was just worried you'd overthink things. Okay, I'll be more careful next time. I'm leaving now, goodbye Mom!"

After getting out of the car, she stood there waving, watching Li Shuhua's car drive away before letting out a heavy sigh of relief. "That was so close! Ever since I impulsively got my marriage certificate with Song Yunzheng half a month ago, I've always lacked confidence when speaking in front of Ms. Li. I always feel like there's a knife hanging over my head, and I never know when it might fall..."

During the start of the school term, the roads on campus were bustling with people, students coming and going, creating a lively atmosphere.

Happiness seems to be contagious. Surrounded by smiling, youthful faces, Lin Yue felt her steps become much lighter.

The gloom that had been hanging over my heart vanished instantly. "Never mind, school has already started anyway, I'll deal with it later."

She strolled leisurely towards the dormitory, dragging her suitcase, her eyes constantly scanning for handsome male students! Influenced by those "perverts" in the dorm, she'd developed a "King Zhou" syndrome...

Little did she know, her current appearance was incredibly attractive to her younger brother! She could easily be mistaken for a freshman in college.

She wore a plain white dress with canvas shoes, her waist-length hair was tied high in a ponytail, and a few wispy hairs on her smooth, full forehead made her oval face look even smaller and cuter. Her fair face was free of makeup, her eyes were big and round, her nose was high and straight with a small tip, and her small mouth was slightly pale due to her period. She looked so pitiful that it made people want to protect her.

Sure enough, it quickly attracted two enthusiastic "senior students".

"Hi student, which dormitory building do you live in? We'll help you deliver your luggage there."

Lin Yue turned around and saw two tall, thin boys standing behind her with kind smiles on their faces.

"Thank you, but no need, I'm not a freshman." She took out her student ID card from her pocket and showed it to me. "I'm a junior!"

One of the boys immediately looked surprised and exclaimed in realization, "No wonder you have such an outstanding aura, you're a senior student!"

"Thank you." Lin Yue pointed behind them, "Look, the junior who needs help is over there."

After saying goodbye in a hurry, Lin Yue quickened her pace and returned to her dormitory.

I had just put my things down and was about to sit down.

With a loud "bang," the dormitory door was suddenly pushed open, as if it had been kicked open, making a huge noise.

Lin Yue flinched, nearly dropping what she was holding. She quickly turned around, wanting to see who was being so rude!

Upon seeing Jiang Li standing at the door, she immediately said in an annoyed tone, "Are you trying to tear the door down? The dorm supervisor will be furious if she hears you!"

Jiang Li ignored her words, tossed her flowing red hair, and strode into the dormitory, pushing a suitcase on each side.

“Baby, I knew you got here before me, let me give you a kiss…” Jiang Li said, quickly stepped forward and hugged Lin Yue, then pouted and pretended to kiss her.
