The cold wind howled, and two or three crows perched on the frost-covered tree trunks, cawing every now and then, creating a desolate and oppressive atmosphere.
Jiang Anxin arrived at school early in the morning with dark circles under her eyes. As soon as she sat down in the classroom, her lackey, like a cat smelling fish, immediately came over.
"Don't worry, this is breakfast I brought for you specially. It's from the place you've always loved." Fu Yaru presented the breakfast with both hands with great respect, as if it were a treasure.
"Get out of here, I have no appetite today." And indeed, she had no appetite. She was so terrified by her own guilty conscience that she couldn't sleep all night. She wouldn't have a moment's peace until Jiang Xiaoxian helped her resolve the situation. At the same time, an uncontrollable surge of anger and jealousy welled up within her. What was it about Lin Yue, besides her face, that made Song Yunzheng treat her like such a treasure? She slammed her fist on the table in anger.
Fu Ya awkwardly put her breakfast away. "Okay, what do you want to eat for lunch so I can reserve a table in advance? Or should we just eat in the cafeteria?"
"Aren't you annoying? You've been chattering away all morning, can't you be quiet for a while!" Clearly, Jiang Anxin was venting her anger on her little follower who usually obeyed her every command.
Fu Ya immediately shut her mouth and sat obediently to the side.
The classmates standing nearby seemed to be used to this kind of thing; it was like Zhou Yu beating Huang Gai – one was willing to hit and the other was willing to be hit.
At this moment, Principal Zhou walked steadily to the classroom door, his sharp eyes scanning the classroom before finally settling on Jiang Anxin. He beckoned to her, "Jiang Anxin, come to my office."
"Me?" Jiang Anxin pointed to herself, the panic hidden deep in her heart suddenly bursting forth.
Principal Zhou nodded, turned and left. Seeing this, Jiang Anxin quickly followed, her heart pounding involuntarily.
Upon arriving at the principal's office, Jiang Anxin saw three policemen standing ramrod straight ahead. A chill ran down her spine; this was the sign of guilt after committing a wrongdoing.
She tried to suppress her inner turmoil and asked hesitantly, "Principal Zhou, what brings you here?"
Principal Zhou sighed deeply, "It's not me who needs to talk to you, it's the police!"
He never imagined that the person who had offended Song Yunzheng would be this very ancestor! After receiving Song Yunzheng's call last night, he had been filled with anxiety, tossing and turning, unable to sleep. Therefore, he came to school early this morning, wanting to find out what was going on as soon as possible. However, the injury assessment report and the police arrived before him…
The police officer first showed his badge and said sternly, "Hello, we are police officers from the Haidian Branch of the Municipal Public Security Bureau. We are now arresting you in accordance with the law. Please cooperate with our work."
Before she could finish speaking, the police officers were already preparing to handcuff her. Jiang Anxin's eyes widened in disbelief, then she screamed at the top of her lungs like a pig being slaughtered, "Why are you arresting me? What did I do to deserve this? Don't touch me! Don't touch me!"
The police officer shouted to stop him, "Don't resist. Resistance is futile and will only cause you more harm. From now on, you have the right to remain silent, but everything you say can be used against you in court."
Jiang Anxin was instantly rendered speechless, as if her throat had been seized. She trembled with fear at the imposing aura emanating from the police officer. Tears welled in her eyes as she pitifully pleaded with Principal Zhou, "Principal Zhou, please speak to me! Why are you arresting me? Please call my grandfather! Please call my grandfather! Hurry!"
Principal Zhou watched her silently, a hint of struggle and reluctance flashing in his eyes, but more so a deep sense of powerlessness. He could only watch helplessly as she broke down on her own.
After understanding the whole story, from an outsider's perspective, all I can say is that she brought this on herself and doesn't deserve any sympathy. Being young? That's no excuse for breaking the law!
Upon arriving at the police station, Jiang Anxin became as docile as a lamb, no longer as excited as she had been at school. Instead, she cautiously and timidly inquired, "Uncle, can I call my grandfather?"
The police officer glanced at her expressionlessly and said, "Don't worry, we'll notify your parents to come over."
A moment later, Jiang Kerou rushed into the police station, her voice trembling with excitement: "Where's my daughter? Where's my daughter? Why are you arresting her? She's just a child, she's only just turned 18, how can you arrest her for no reason?"
"Madam, please calm down and keep quiet. This is not your home, this is the police station! Let's talk this out!"
Jiang Kerou tried her best to calm the raging agitation in her heart, took a deep breath, and said in a slightly trembling voice, "I'm sorry, I was too anxious. I hope you can understand a mother's feelings."
"Then please understand our work," the police officer retorted without any politeness.
"Don't you know what your daughter did to get in here?"
When questioned by the police, Jiang Kerou paused for two seconds, then shook her head as if she had been hit on the head with a heavy hammer, and said, "I don't know."
The police officer snorted coldly, "We received a report at eight o'clock last night that a kidnapping had occurred near Xiaoying West Road, and the perpetrator was your daughter, Jiang Anxin."
"Impossible! She wouldn't do such a thing, she's only 18!" Jiang Kerou's voice seemed to pierce the roof as she made her last attempt at sophistry, stubbornly refusing to admit it.
“We don’t arrest people without evidence. This is the whole process captured by the hidden camera in that corner.”
After watching the surveillance video, Jiang Kerou was struck dumb, slumped into a chair, and muttered to herself, "Impossible, impossible, she told me she was just taking her there to chat..."
