A Cullinan, a steel behemoth, screeched to a halt in front of the Hilton. Lin Yue hurriedly got out of the car and headed straight for the elevator.
"Hey, sister-in-law, do you know which room Auntie is in?" Song Yunxi quickly grabbed her.
Lin Yue slapped her forehead in frustration, saying, "I forgot to ask, and she didn't tell me! I'll call her now." She quickly took out her phone, found Li Shuhua's number, and dialed it.
The phone rang again and again, but no one answered. Lin Yue was as anxious as an ant on a hot pan, pacing back and forth, her fingertips trembling uncontrollably.
Song Yunxi calmly walked to the front desk and said in a deep voice, "Hello, could you please help me find out which room Ms. Li Shuhua is in?"
"I'm sorry, ma'am, this involves guest privacy, and I may not be able to help you." The receptionist nodded apologetically.
“Ms. Li Shuhua may be in danger. That’s her daughter over there. We’ve lost contact with her. We’ve already called the police. If the rescue is delayed because of you, who will ultimately bear the responsibility, you or your boss?” Song Yunxi adopted the same authoritative tone she used to give her employees, her sharp, hawk-like eyes fixed on the front desk staff as she spoke in a clear and distinct voice.
As someone who manages a group, his aura was simply unparalleled. With just a few words, he intimidated the other party as if Mount Tai had crushed an egg. "I...I'll check for you right away. Please wait a moment."
"Ms. Li Shuhua is in suite 1206," the receptionist said nervously.
"Okay, thank you."
Song Yunxi, like an agile cheetah, strode over with her bag in one hand, took Lin Yue's hand, and led her into the elevator. "Aunt Li is in apartment 1206."
When Lin Yue gets anxious or scared, her mind tends to freeze and go completely blank.
"Your mother is with her boyfriend..." The words Lin Qingguo had said that day suddenly flashed through my mind.
Boyfriend? Hotel? They called again, telling her to bring more money. Could she have been scammed or kidnapped? A flood of terrifying thoughts rushed through her mind, and Lin Yue's palms were already soaked with sweat.
Seeing that her face was pale from excessive tension and worry, Song Yunxi felt sorry for her and raised her hand to put her arm around her shoulder, comforting her, "Don't worry, it's okay, I'm here with you."
Lin Yue stared straight at the elevator door, gripping her phone tightly in both hands, and nodded heavily.
"Ding..." The elevator doors opened.
Lin Yue dashed out like an arrow, searching along the corridor until she finally saw the door number 1206. She quickly went up and knocked on the door.
"Tap tap tap..."
"Mom, are you in there?" Lin Yue was just about to press her ear against the door to hear if there was any movement inside. However, the door suddenly opened, and she, who had been leaning her weight on the door, lost her balance and fell straight inside.
Upon seeing this, Song Yunxi was startled, not by the stranger inside, but by Lin Yue's sudden action. If she had bumped or hurt herself, Song Yunzheng would have been furious. Ever since that last shopping trip where he'd lost sight of his sister-in-law, her trust in him had been like a kite with a broken string, never to be regained…
"Sister-in-law, slow down, are you hurt?" Song Yunxi quickly helped her up.
Lin Yue shook her head, not bothering to answer, and walked straight inside like a gust of wind.
"Yueyue, you've finally arrived!" Li Shuhua rushed forward and tightly grasped her daughter's hand when she saw her.
Lin Yue glanced at the people sitting on the sofa, a man and a woman. The woman glared at her with hostility, while the man was handsome and looked like a naive young man. She then looked back at the burly man standing at the door, her heart filled with doubt, not understanding what was going on.
"Mom, what's going on? Who are these people?"
Li Shuhua stammered, as if a wad of cotton was stuffed into his throat, unable to utter a sound.
The curly-haired woman grew impatient and suddenly stood up. She walked to Lin Yue's side and gave her a malicious look, asking, "You're her daughter?"
Facing her malicious gaze, Lin Yue's eyes narrowed abruptly, her brows furrowing with disgust, as if she were looking at a repulsive fly. "I am."
The curly-haired woman nodded thoughtfully, then slowly said, "Your mother lured a minor to a hotel room!"
"What?!" Lin Yue's eyes widened in shock, never before so wide, her eyeballs almost popping out of her head. These words were like a thunderbolt, leaving her stunned and speechless. Not only her, but Song Yunxi was also shocked.
"Mom, I...did I hear that right?" Lin Yue turned to look at Li Shuhua, trying to find a negative answer on her face.
"Don't listen to her nonsense, I didn't kidnap anyone," Li Shuhua quickly retorted.
Just as Lin Yue was about to breathe a sigh of relief, she heard her say, "We fell in love on our own, and he lied to me and said he was 20 years old, which is why I chose to date him."
Lin Yue felt as if a boulder was pressing down on her, causing her to feel stuck in her chest, unable to go up or down. She stared at Li Shuhua in disbelief, "Mom, what have you done? I've always been more than happy for you to date. I know how hard you've worked all these years, but you absolutely cannot date someone so young!"
"Even you dare to criticize your mother like this?" Li Shuhua glared angrily at Lin Yue, instantly putting on a teary-eyed look. "I've raised you with so much hardship all these years, and I've finally waited for you to get married. It's time for me to start thinking about my own life, but now, instead of speaking up for your mother, you're criticizing me?!"
