Chapter 201 Extra: Scalded

As Xu Muyao stepped into his home, the pitch-black darkness enveloped the entire house, making it even more tranquil. Even the sounds of car horns on the road outside seemed amplified several times over, reaching his ears.

He didn't turn on the light, but slowly walked to the balcony. "Snap..." With a crisp sound, the lighter spat out a cluster of eerie blue flames, like ghostly fire.

He lit a cigarette but didn't smoke it. He just watched it burn quietly, the flickering sparks illuminating his eyes hidden in the darkness.

He opened the window, letting the smoke drift out. The evening breeze gently caressed his face. At this moment, he was a lonely man forgotten by the world, but he had long been accustomed to solitude and had begun to learn to find his own peace and beauty in it.

He turned around, extinguished his cigarette, took out his phone, and opened WeChat. At the top of the chat list, there was an unfamiliar profile picture and name.

I remember scanning the QR code to add you on WeChat before getting off the bus.

He clicked on the girl's WeChat Moments on a whim. There weren't many selfies; most of them were pictures of food and scenery. The few selfies he did see only showed her profile.

As he scrolled down, he suddenly noticed a picture posted on May 1st, a rare shot of a face.

Her bright, deer-like eyes seem to see right through the screen into your heart.

Xu Muyao suddenly felt that he was acting strangely, browsing through other girls' WeChat Moments for no reason. It was really boring!

Thinking of this, he immediately exited the WeChat interface, casually tossed his phone onto the coffee table, and turned to go into the bathroom.

The moment the bathroom door closed, the phone screen suddenly lit up.

Jiang also sent him a picture of the starry sky, followed by a message: "The moonlight is perfect tonight, ideal for planting stars."

The romantic starry sky in your eyes is a paradise I have never seen before.

These were the words she kept hidden in her heart, words she wanted to say but dared not.

After sending the message, Jiang quickly threw her phone aside and then paced back and forth in the room, pretending to be calm, but her eyes were constantly watching the phone screen like radar.

She cleaned the entire room and watched the clock strike twelve, but the phone remained lying there silently, without making a sound.

Jiang was also a little disappointed. Frustrated, she threw her phone even further away and then covered her head to go to sleep.

...

At Qian San Teahouse, shouts of vendors rose and fell at the entrance, while inside came a constant stream of laughter. A group of elderly men and women gathered here, drinking tea and chatting, or listening to crosstalk, creating a lively atmosphere.

Xu Muyao wore a loose T-shirt, his black hair hanging down slightly in front of his forehead, the length just above his eyebrows, clean and neat, but it was still hard to hide his military temperament.

Most of his face was hidden behind the counter; he looked very busy.

In a corner not far away, a pair of doe-like eyes were staring at him intently, as if he were a ray of tranquility in this noisy world.

In the afternoon, the shop was bustling with people, business was booming, and the elderly and children were all gathered there. Jiang also moved through the crowd. Because she arrived late, there was no choice of a seat, so she could only sit by the busy aisle.

Where there are children, there are bound to be mischievous kids. While parents leisurely drink tea and chat, the mischievous kids run around like headless flies, playing wildly without restraint.

Hot tea and sharp table corners are everywhere, each a potential hazard that could easily put a child in danger if they are not careful.

Jiang wanted to speak up and stop them several times, but seeing the calm and composed demeanor of the other parent, whose expression seemed to say, "My child is truly outstanding and is having so much fun!"

She had no choice but to remain silent. After all, it was best to mind her own business, respect other people's fate, and not disturb her from peeking at Brother Xu.

However, what you fear most often comes to pass; it seems to be an eternal curse.

The waiter was carrying tea and carefully passing by Jiang Ye when the two unruly children suddenly rushed over and bumped into the waiter hard.

The waiter instinctively dodged, immediately moving his arm to the side, afraid of hurting the child. Due to the excessive speed of his movement, the tea spilled.

It splashed perfectly, all of it landing on Jiang Ye.

"Ah!" the waiter immediately screamed, apologizing repeatedly, "I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry."

Hearing the commotion, Xu Muyao dropped what he was doing, rushed over to Jiang Ye, picked her up, and ran towards the bathroom.

That's right, it's a hug!

He kept his scalded arm pressed tightly under the tap to rinse it.

"Does it hurt?" he whispered in her ear.

Jiang stared blankly at his profile, nodded mechanically, and then shook her head.

After a moment, she slowly said, "Um... the tea wasn't that hot, I'm fine."

Then, large red patches appeared on his fair arm. Was this all there was to it? Xu Muyao couldn't help but wonder if this kid had no pain receptors!

"Let's go to the hospital."

Xu Muyao grabbed her by the other arm like a chick, rushed to the front desk, grabbed the car keys, and dashed out the door.

Jiang sat in the car, secretly delighted, and even wanted to thank the two children. They weren't naughty kids at all; they were practically little angels sent by the God of Love!

If they hadn't caused this scene, she wouldn't have known what excuse to use to get closer to him.

Xu Muyao took her to XH Hospital without stopping. They registered at the emergency department, where they were seen by a handsome male doctor.

"What burned you?" the doctor asked.

Jiang also said: "Hot tea."

Did you take a shower immediately?

"Yes, it took at least five minutes to rinse."
