Chapter 51
Mental fatigue, cases happening around us
Dongshu was in a daze, her dark eyes were hazy, her eyelids drooping, and a sliver of moonlight that pierced through the gap made her somewhat silent.
The curtains were in warm, dark colors, almost blending into the darkness, yet revealing their warmth where the moonlight shone through.
She was startled awake by a dark dream, like a nightmare, filled with many people and—monsters.
Black, white, blue... many, many more, but in the end they all faded into a glaring crimson.
Screams, pain, despair, and eerie emotions filled the world. The man curled his lips into a smile, his face contorted with grotesque changes in flesh and blood, his four strange eyes and four bizarre hands, and his malevolent, low voice carried a sinister aura.
"Domain Deployment - Demon-Slaying Chef!"
A colossal shrine rose, surrounded and embraced by countless white bones—darkness, pain, and blood!
The invisible souls of the crowd surrounded the beautiful pink figure who died last.
Fuyuki was puzzled, but the images in her mind gradually faded as she woke up. In the end, the last image flashed by, and she couldn't grasp anything.
She pulled the blanket up to cover half her face, her eyes glazed over, overcome with drowsiness. She managed a weak yawn, her eyelids drooped a couple of times, and then she fell still.
The paper figures and cacti that had somehow appeared in the corner of the curtains gave each other a high five in a strange gesture. They blocked out all the noise from outside the window, and the power of the clear world dispelled the lingering unease, lulling her into a deep sleep.
A cactus thorn breaks off, compresses and strings together the surrounding fragments, and neatly sends them out into the world.
A silent sigh spread... fragments of the world, it was unknown which world had suffered this calamity.
The fragments have all fallen into other worlds. Mr. Ke thought for a moment and realized that he might have to search around in his world. These little fragments are quite sharp.
The flat body of the little paper figure was pressed against the window, and the flickering light highlighted the unrest across the street.
It shrank back and stuck to the bottom of the cactus pot, where it remained still and quiet.
The next day, Fuyuki looked at the devastation across the street in astonishment; the entire house looked like it had been damaged, even from the outside.
The second-floor windowpane was shattered, and something dark did not reflect the sunlight. The striped curtains were only half-finished, swaying silently.
Someone was crying and tried to rush into the house in terrible condition, but was stopped by a man who was also grieving. The man hugged her tightly, tears streaming down his face, and kept saying something.
It was probably meant as a word of dissuasion.
Police officers who received the emergency call have arrived and set up a cordon. Professionals are conducting an investigation. Judging from everyone's serious and solemn expressions, the situation is serious.
Police officers were conducting investigations in the area, going door-to-door asking questions in an attempt to obtain information.
"Knock knock!"
We've arrived at her house.
Dongshu blinked knowingly: "Okay, open the door."
Atsushi Toshiro put down his cup: "Yes."
The door opened, revealing a somewhat stern policewoman. Seeing the two children, one older and one younger, standing in the doorway, she softened her voice: "You're from the Arisu family, right? Where are your parents?"
Atsushi Toshiro was wearing a black hoodie. Fuyuki grabbed the hem of his shirt and held it in her hand. She had an inexplicable obsession with keeping her distance from the police.
Perhaps it was because she had a status that was opposed to the police that she unconsciously carried a sense of avoidance.
She moved a step to the side, using Atsushi Toshiro to cover her body, and then peeked out to look at the policewoman.
The girl's cautious movements caught the policewoman's attention, but seeing the child's timid expression, she looked away.
Atsushi Toushirou took the hand of the Saniwa behind him and protectively answered, "I have no parents."
Her pale purple eyes were serious, yet she uttered words that tugged at the heartstrings.
His tone was indifferent, as if he didn't think it was a big deal that his underage child didn't have parents.
The policewoman was taken aback and remained silent for a moment, but she did not forget her mission and went into the house to begin questioning the two children.
Whether it was Dongshu's imagination or not, she felt that the police officer's voice was much softer.
As expected, I didn't get much information in the end, but I did get a superficial understanding of the two children's family situations.
Orphaned and with many brothers working together to survive and care for their youngest sister, their story is truly inspiring.
She couldn't help but say a few more words.
As the meeting drew to a close, the policewoman stood up and gave the two a reassuring smile: "It's alright, Houjun and Xiaodongshu, don't worry, the police officers will handle everything."
Atsushi Toshiro nodded and replied, "Okay, thank you, Miss Police Officer."
Dongshu chimed in, her eyes slightly shy: "Thank you."
She was genuinely taken aback by the policewoman's enthusiasm.
The door closed softly. Dongshu breathed a sigh of relief, but said weakly, "Hmm..."
Atsushi Toshiro looked at her: "General, is there something you need to ask me this time?"
Dongshu calmed herself down, but her expression was still somewhat confused. The exhaustion from the dream hadn't dissipated: "What's wrong...? Let's go out for a walk after we've dealt with the other side."
What to look at?
She didn't know either; she just wanted to go out.
Perhaps she just wanted to see the clear sky and feel the fresh air outside.
She said listlessly, "I'm a little bored."
The Black Organization's development was stable, and she didn't have to exert much effort in managing it, after all, Mr. Ke Xue—the world consciousness—was helping her.
However, she recently discovered that when she spoke with Gin, the organization she had chosen, under the identity of Rob Roy, the other party's attitude was somewhat strange.
It wasn't that she was wary or unfamiliar with him; the spirits always clearly expressed their thoughts to her.
She was unfamiliar with this hesitant, dawdling behavior, and unwilling to speculate about it, because she wasn't actually interested in it.
Just like the little stray dog that always appears in the form of a paper doll and Mr. Ke Xue who appears in the form of a cactus, everything about them is very straightforward, and they disdain to hide anything.
If you want to do something and you can do it, then you've done it.
Just as the little stray dog chose her to take care of his work, now, besides curiosity, isn't he also doing whatever he wants?
But she didn't dislike this childish worldview. After all, she herself was quite childish. When two kids get together, they're just childish together.
Specifically, when Fuyuki wanted to learn from the big boss's style and temperament, this unpretentious world consciousness edited the behavior of her own pillar into a video, and looking at her finished product, she was even quite proud.
However, Fuyuki also benefited a lot; at least she really learned how to appear to be the mastermind behind everything.
Dongshu leaned on the windowsill, her feet swinging lightly. The scene across the street hadn't faded yet, and more and more people were gathering around the police cordon. Those who came over without knowing what was going on were stopped by the police to prevent them from making any rash moves and disturbing the scene.
Fuyuki glanced at the group of people gathered together, including the two she had seen earlier who were in pain and trying to persuade her. They were leaning forward, their hands moving as if they were arguing about something.
A policeman stood beside them, seemingly lost in thought.
She watched for a while, then, not wanting to pay any more attention, drew the curtains to shut out the noise from outside.
It seems it will take some more time. Hopefully, the police can resolve this as soon as possible.
Mr. Ke Xue is right, the world is indeed not peaceful.
