Chapter 23 This is the twenty-third chapter.

She received three curious glances. Xi Dai answered, "I can play the violin." Almost no one besides her parents knew that Xi Dai could play the violin, and she had never had time to showcase it. This cultural event was a perfect opportunity for her to see just how well she played the violin.

Xi Dai was the only daughter in the Xi family, and her childhood dream was to become a violinist. Now, however, she wanted to inherit the family business. So, Xi Xinxin's appearance caught her off guard. However, Xi Dai stole a glance at Xi Xinxin and thought that if Xi Xinxin wanted to inherit the family business, it wouldn't be bad.

The class monitor was Xu Chacha, who had the best grades. At this moment, Ji Nianya appeared and said, "I want to sign up too. Violin solo."

He paused, about to put down his pen: "You two both want violins?"

Before the cultural event, all performances were selected. Leaving aside whether other classes would have a violin solo, two students from her own class were already competing. Seeing that both nodded without hesitation, Xu Chacha didn't say anything and simply noted them both down.

When Xi Xinxin accompanied Xi Dai to the school's music room for practice, Jinian Ya was already inside. The elegant and melodious tune seemed to transport one to a riverside setting. Jinian Ya closed her eyes, and the melody slowly lowered. Darkness fell. A sense of oppression seemed to rise. The drawn-out notes were like a warm hand soothing someone to sleep. The music stopped. Jinian Ya opened her eyes. She exhaled, intending to pack up and leave.

What a coincidence. Then I spotted Xi Dai again: "What? Afraid of losing to me?"

Xi Dai, who originally had no competitive spirit, was also ignited: "Worry about yourself first."

"Then I'll see how well you play." Jinianya found a seat and sat down.

As the music ended, Xi Xinxin clapped enthusiastically.

"You've got some skill. What's the name of the piece you played?"

“True,” Xi Dai said, “It’s music from a game that I think is really nice. What was that song you just played?”

"I composed my own original melody," Ji Nianya stood up and asked, "Would you like to collaborate with me?"

"A duet violin?"

"My parents will be watching my performance during the cultural event, so I definitely need to perform. Let's collaborate. I believe we both have a chance. Of course, it's up to you whether you agree or not."

Xi Dai considered for a moment, then said, "Then we need to practice properly."

On the weekend, Xi Xinxin strolled through the supermarket alone, wanting to buy some snacks. These past few days, Xi Dai and the other two had been busy. Xi Dai was practicing music with Jinian Ya, and Yu Shuwen was studying with Xu Chacha. So she went shopping alone. Xi Xinxin hummed a tune as she pushed her cart, selecting snacks. She hadn't felt this relaxed in a long time.

After paying, she waved the small bag of snacks in her hand, intending to buy some more street food.

"Oh, isn't this Miss Xi?"

Turning her head, Xi Xinxin immediately recognized Wu Mingze. It seemed he already knew her identity.

He seemed to have lost a lot of weight. His face was pale. He wasn't as arrogant as he had been the last time they met. He looked like he had suffered a lot. Xi Xinxin turned away and ignored him.

Seeing that he was being ignored, Wu Mingze's expression darkened even more: "You stop right there!"

Xi Xinxin continued walking

"You fucking stop right there!"

Xi Xinxin started running.

The result was obvious: Wu Mingze couldn't catch up, and Xi Xinxin easily shook him off. Avoiding trouble, she went straight to the food street and bought a milk tea and some spicy potato chips. Unexpectedly, just as Xi Xinxin took the chips, Wu Mingze appeared.

Before Wu Mingze could even speak, Xi Xinxin took off running. She then grabbed a mask and sunglasses and put them on.

Wu Mingze had arranged to go to a karaoke bar with a few friends. Little did he expect to run into Xi Xinxin. But when his parents warned him not to go against the Xi family, he understood that his family was no match for the Xi family. Mo Chen had also inexplicably lost contact with him. His intuition told him that it was all Xi Xinxin's doing.

After reuniting with his buddies, he saw a girl wearing a mask and sunglasses. He clenched his fists and roared, "Xi Xinxin! Do you think I'm stupid?!" The girl clearly paused for a moment, then immediately ran away. Wu Mingze suddenly had an idea. Since he couldn't afford to mess with her, and his buddies didn't know Xi Xinxin, wasn't it only right for them, as brothers, to teach her a lesson?

Xi Xinxin stopped when she saw that there was no one behind her.

(Host, have you considered that your clothes can't be changed?)

(Host, are you really a genius?)

Running around while her potatoes weren't eating them would ruin them. She found a bench in a nearby park and sat down. Xi Xinxin then began to enjoy her incredibly delicious potatoes.

The aroma of potatoes wafts through the air. The seasoning powder on top is sprinkled just right, and each bite is incredibly crispy. Paired with this refreshing, icy fruit tea, the greasiness vanishes instantly…

(Stop! This isn't a food show!)

Soon, Wu Mingze's friends found Xi Xinxin sitting in a chair enjoying her food, following the description. One of the boys asked, "Are you Xi Xinxin?"

"Huh? No, my surname is Fang. My family hopes I'll be successful and that everyone will recognize me, so my nickname is 'Instant Noodles'."

Everyone: ...

These people had never actually seen what Xi Xinxin looked like. They were running so fast that they only caught a glimpse of her clothes. They didn't dare to claim she looked like her.

So Xi Xinxin ate her food, watching these people search around. After she finished eating, Xi Xinxin decided to go back.

What a fulfilling day!

As the arts competition drew near, the selection performance time also arrived. Xi Dai and Jinian Ya both felt nervous. Their hands, holding the violins, were slightly sweaty. Xi Xinxin patted Xi Dai and Jinian Ya's backs and whispered, "You two will definitely be fine."

Surprisingly, Xi Dai and Jinian Ya gradually calmed down. The two took their violins and went into the selection room.

Just a few minutes later, they emerged, Ji Nianya's face beaming with barely suppressed excitement. Xi Xinxin knew they had been chosen. Xi Dai, on the other hand, appeared calm. But her slightly trembling hands betrayed her true feelings.

At the beginning of their practice, they made frequent mistakes. At that time, Jinian Ya was even considering switching back to a solo performance because the key was always off when playing in ensemble. Xi Dai stopped her and said, "Try again. Try again." Fortunately, after so much practice and hard work, they finally achieved results.

Next, with a little more practice, we can simply wait for the arts competition to begin. The competition lasts three days, featuring many different performances by various students. There's plenty of time for breaks during the intermission, and even some time reserved for undecided groups to perform again for audience judging. Everyone can vote on the school's official website, but only once. Any act of vote-rigging or cheating will result in immediate disqualification.

Students from other schools will also come to watch the performance, but they cannot participate in the voting.

There is an exam before the arts competition, and this exam determines whether everyone can relax and enjoy the competition.

If nothing unexpected happens, something unexpected is about to happen. Ji Nianya had a fever and asked for leave on the day of the exam. This is what Xi Xinxin heard when she went into the office to teach homework.

"Teacher? Could you please give me Jinianya's address? I'd like to visit her."

"Oh, of course."

When Xi Xinxin arrived at Jinianya's house, she was greeted by the nanny. The nanny told Xi Xinxin that Jinianya was in that room. After thanking the nanny, she went into Jinianya's room.

"I'm coming in."

Jinian Ya's room was different from the white-toned lobby. It was all pink and soft, making the air feel warmer. Jinian Ya struggled to sit up, coughed a few times, and her face turned bright red: "Why didn't you wear a mask when you came in? What if I gave you my cold?"

"I'm perfectly healthy," Xi Xinxin said, having brought a lot of fruit. Then she started peeling an apple herself: "Lie down quickly."

The apple was quickly peeled, and Xi Xinxin cut it into pieces and put them on a plate, then stuck a label on it: "Do you have the strength in your hands? Or should I feed you?"

"Cough cough, what's wrong with you? We're not that close."

"They'll ripen if you feed them apples, ah----"

The apple was practically offered to her. Jinian Ya, oblivious to everything else, began to eat it bite by bite. The two didn't exchange any unnecessary words until the apple was finished. Then the nanny brought in porridge and some side dishes.

"How about I feed you?"

"Don't I have hands?"

Xi Xinxin took out several exercise books from her schoolbag and placed them on the bedside table: "These are your homework."

"Are you leaving?"

"Hmm? Do you want me to leave?"

"In no mood"

Xi Xinxin chuckled. This person really knows how to say things like, "Are your parents very busy?"

"The doctor couldn't do anything."

"how are you feeling"

"I feel very dizzy. I think I'll be better the day after tomorrow. Don't worry, I won't hold Xi Dai back."

"Do you think I came to see you because of Xi Dai?"

"Otherwise what?"

"no."

Ji Nianya was still sipping her porridge when Xi Xinxin touched her forehead and then put a new fever-reducing patch on her.

"I don't understand you, but thank you for coming to see me."

She peeled some fruit for Ji Nianya, arranged it on a plate, and then said goodbye.

The fever came on quickly and went away just as fast. Jinian Ya thought she wouldn't get better until the day after tomorrow. Unexpectedly, she had already recovered after sleeping last night. The exams hadn't even started yet. She went to the office to discuss the make-up exam with the teacher, and then went to Xi Xinxin's seat: "If I win first place in the competition, I'll treat you to dinner with the prize money. If I don't, I'll still treat you to dinner."

"Okay," Xi Xinxin had barely agreed when she sensed a chill. Xu Chacha's eyes were full of resentment. It was as if the words "Why are you flirting with other men again?" were practically written all over her face.

If she could, Xu Chacha really wanted to bite her handkerchief. It was one thing for Jiang Moli to be with her on her way to and from school lately; after all, Xin Xin didn't seem interested in him. But what was with this Ji Nianya? Inviting her to dinner? He was clearly up to something. Xin Xin already had three men, why wasn't she satisfied!

At the same time, Jiang Moli sneezed in his seat, wondering if he had caught a cold.
