Chapter 116 Extra-5
Jing Ge felt inexplicably relieved. After seeing the male student off, he stopped throwing a tantrum at Li Mushi and even took his arm, wanting to go to the city to set off fireworks for the New Year.
Li Mushi seemed to be deep in thought.
The girl's thoughts were ever-changing, but they always revolved around him.
Because of the New Year's Eve celebration in the city center, the main street was congested. Li Mushi told Uncle Zhang to go home first, and he took Jingge's hand and walked inside.
Everywhere was bustling with the joy of welcoming the New Year.
Jingge was dressed like a penguin and had to cross the snow. He was panting after just a few steps.
Li Mushi would bend down and let her sit on his arm, then easily carry her forward.
He loved holding her like a baby, lifting her high so she was above his head and could see the best view.
Jing Ge was nervous at first, since he was suspended in mid-air, but he gradually got used to it and started swinging his legs happily.
As long as she stands firm, Li Mushi won't let her fall.
He lifted her up, giving her maximum freedom.
Li Mushi arranged the best spot for New Year's Eve, facing the countdown clock tower. Jing Ge could sit in front of the floor-to-ceiling window and wait for the fireworks to rise in front of her.
However, Jingge got impatient after only ten minutes and dragged him downstairs into the crowd.
Helpless, Li Mushi covered half of her face with a scarf and then pulled on her woolen hat to cover her ears.
He had never participated in such an event before and wasn't the type to enjoy crowds. Jingge led him to an open-air square to listen to singers perform, and he was moved to tears by the atmosphere of the upcoming New Year.
Li Mushi patted her head, opened his coat and wrapped it around her, letting her face press against his warm chest.
This girl is very emotional. Years of running around have made her habitually tense. This year she has started to learn to relax and often cries over the smallest, most beautiful things.
In the past, after such a huge commotion, Jingge always felt empty inside. The aftereffect of the overwhelming noise was the unbearable loneliness that followed.
But this year is different.
While enjoying the present moment, she looked forward even more to the satisfaction of being able to snuggle up to Li Mushi after it was all over.
He didn't have to do anything; he could just stay home reading and working, with Jingge following him everywhere. He was bubbling with happiness.
The square is counting down, and the snowflakes are swirling lightly under the streetlights.
Jingge felt warm against her skin. She stood on tiptoe and cupped the man's thin face in her hands. As the countdown began, she said earnestly, "I want to be with my husband for the rest of my life."
Li Mushi suddenly understood the ancient emperors' obsession with immortality.
He kissed her slightly cool lips, which tasted of falling snow: "I love you."
-
On the second day of the Lunar New Year, Jing Ge and Li Mushi returned to the Jing family. In fact, Cai Zhi had urged them to get up on the first day, but Jing Ge couldn't get out of bed and dawdled until the afternoon. Li Mushi indulged her and personally called Cai Zhi to apologize.
Cai Zhi invited a bunch of relatives and friends. Li Mushi becoming her son-in-law was the most triumphant thing in her life.
Her friends and family, who had previously looked down on her, now fawned over her.
Jingge helped Prince Jing look at the questions on the exam paper for a while, and when he came out, he was surrounded by a group of relatives as Li Mushi.
"My son said that this project is definitely going to be fine, it just lacks funding..."
"Mushi, what industries do you think will be good next year? We'd like to get involved too."
"I hope that foundation my family invested in won't collapse. Mu Shi, do you have any inside information...?"
Jing Ge stood there expressionless.
Passing by the chattering relatives, Li Mushi met her gaze, giving her a reassuring look that indicated she shouldn't be angry, that it was all a small matter and he could handle it.
Instead of offering any help or perfunctory answers, Cai Zhi urged Li Mushi to quickly provide the answers for everyone.
Standing behind Jing Ge, Prince Jing suddenly said, "Mom, I'm in a relationship."
Everyone in the living room was instantly stunned.
Prince Jing is Cai Zhi's life; his future is the future of the Jing family. Early romance is absolutely forbidden.
Cai Zhi immediately came over to interrogate him.
Jingge pulled Li Mushi outside.
The relative called out urgently, "Hey, aren't you going to eat lunch?"
“I’m not eating,” Jing Ge said curtly. “This meal is too expensive; I can’t afford it.”
"This girl is asking about Mu Shi..."
“He doesn’t know,” Jingge said. “He just flips a coin and guesses. You should flip a coin too. If you really can’t decide, choose C.”
Li Mushi: "."
relative:"."
On the way downstairs, Li Mushi kept laughing and even asked her, "What's the deal with choosing C?"
"..." Jing Ge's anger turned to sadness. The academic geniuses really couldn't understand the pain of ordinary students like them. "Why don't you ask Baylor about his puppy love?"
Li Mushi smiled faintly: "It's fake."
Jing Ge: "".
Li Mushi: "They're helping us out of this predicament."
Jing Ge: "Goodbye."
Li Mushi's shoulders trembled, and he was about to laugh again.
Jing Ge kept a straight face and beckoned to him with his index finger.
Li Mushi bent down and offered his face.
Jingge held a bowl of rubs and rubbed him until he was swaying from side to side: "All you do is laugh. You can't chat with them. They can only win, not lose. If they lose, they'll make you take responsibility!"
“I know what I’m doing,” Li Mushi said, taking the opportunity to peck her lips. “It’s nothing.”
Jing Ge huffed, "I'm afraid you've never dealt with this kind of sinking situation before."
Li Mushi pressed his forehead against hers and couldn't stop laughing.
Jing Ge was annoyed by his laughter: "I have a joke I've been saving, do you want to hear it?"
Li Mushi suppressed his smile: "Listen."
Jing Ge: "I can't talk about it."
Li Mushi: "?"
Jing Ge: "I lost the key to the box."
"......"
Jingge looked at him warningly: "Do you want to laugh or not?"
After a brief silence, Li Mushi suppressed a laugh that was rising in his throat: "I choose C."
Whether he laughs or not, this little devil will get annoyed.
I can't decide.
He chose C.
Jing Ge: "".
The two stared at each other for a few seconds, and then Jing Ge started chasing after him, yelling, "Choose C, it won't work either!"
Old men are thieves, huh?
Li Mushi played with her for a while, then wrapped his arm around her waist, lifted her off the ground with a little force, and carried her to the car: "You're sweating, you'll catch a cold if you're exposed to the wind."
Jingge glanced down at him from his high vantage point.
The man's perfectly sculpted face was so gentle, with upturned corners of his eyes and mouth, a testament to his happiness.
He bore the burden of this marriage, while Jingge almost reaped the benefits without lifting a finger. Sometimes she wanted to give back to him, but she really had nothing to offer.
But she didn't seem to have to do anything; as long as she was happy, Li Mushi was always cheerful.
Once in the car, Li Mushi turned on the heater and wiped the sweat from her forehead and back with a handkerchief: "Come with me to the teahouse this afternoon to meet a client."
Jingge watched as he folded the handkerchief and put it in his pocket: "Oh."
Throw it away.
Why don't you throw it away?
He's just pretending.
He silently grumbled a few words to himself, but didn't dare to say them aloud.
Perhaps because he needed to be more formal when meeting clients, Li Mushi stopped by an old-fashioned handicraft shop on the way and picked up a box.
Jing Ge: "What is it...?"
The box was opened, and upon seeing that splash of blue, Jingge unconsciously fell silent.
It was a blue gem she dug up the year she went to Antarctica; she remembered giving it to Li Mushi.
The sapphire has now been made into a brooch by the craftsman.
He then wore it on the chest of his formal suit.
