Chapter 27 Daddy.
Li Zhan and Jing Ge were raised by Li Mushi.
The Li family had no daughters for generations, so girls were considered national treasures in their family.
Li Zhan would never lay a hand on a girl.
They certainly wouldn't attack Jing Ge.
Li Mushi immediately understood that this girl would fabricate stories when she was drunk.
There's nothing more to ask.
The matter is obvious.
She went to find Li Zhan, and the two had an argument.
The reason she took the initiative to seek out Li Zhan could only be related to the Jing family and Jing's father.
Based on the strength and size of the palm print, there was no one else but Jing's father.
Li Mushi helped her up: "Get in the car first."
“I’m not going home,” Jingge said, clinging to the tree trunk with both hands and feet. “I’m not going home.”
Li Mushi squatted down again: "Shall I take you to the Li family?"
Jing Ge: "No."
Li Mushi: "Hotel?"
Jing Ge: "I have no money."
Li Mushi wanted to sigh: "I didn't accept the transfer, you don't need to pay it back."
Jingge turned his head to the other side, as if he didn't want to listen to him.
The night was thick, and occasionally a car would pass by, stirring up a gust of cold wind.
Li Mushi was silent for a moment, then compromised: "Think about it slowly in the car."
Jingge agreed.
She had been sitting hugging the tree for so long that she couldn't get up at all.
Li Mushi gripped her shoulders with both hands, his head aching: "Don't pinch the tree with your hands and legs, let go."
Jingge couldn't understand such complicated instructions.
Li Mushi's brow twitched. He patiently separated her crossed legs, then her folded arms, and finally lifted her up.
Jingge lost his balance and reflexively fell onto him.
Li Mushi helped her straighten up and said sternly, "Stand up straight."
"......"
Li Mushi: "Brush off the dust."
Jingge dusted it off perfunctorily.
Not a single speck of dust was applied.
Li Mushi gave up: "Never mind, get in the car."
Uncle Zhang had already opened the car door, and the warm air rushed onto his face.
Jingge nestled comfortably inside.
After Li Mushi sat down, Uncle Zhang asked, "Where are you going?"
The sound of a bottle cap being twisted came from the back row, and Li Mushi handed the water to Jing Ge.
"official residence."
His private residence.
Unless there are special circumstances, such as when he needed to act as a guardian for the three of them recently, or during holidays when the Li family reunites, Li Mushi always lives alone.
Jing Ge was slapped by her father, and she refused to return to the Jing family home.
Because of Li Zhan, she was even more unwilling to go to the Li family.
She's still a little miser; she won't even go to a hotel that costs money.
The heating was so warm that Jingge snuggled up to the door and fell asleep.
He didn't wake up even after arriving at the official residence.
Li Mushi called out several times, and Uncle Zhang advised, "She drank too much and has been out in the cold for who knows how long. If she gets sick again, you should carry her upstairs first, and I'll go buy some medicine."
“There’s medicine,” Li Mushi bent down, wrapped her in his coat, and then picked her up in his arms. “Keep it a secret.”
Otherwise, it will cause unnecessary complications.
Uncle Zhang nodded: "I know."
The elevator goes directly into the apartment.
Perhaps the light was too bright, Jingge uncomfortablely avoided the light, burying her face in a place where she could block the light.
Li Mushi watched her snuggle in his arms.
Stop only when you feel comfortable.
Through a layer of fabric, this small, warm mass, with the breath brushing against it, left a brief dampness.
The sedan chair was bright, and Li Mushi saw his own expressionless face as if he were looking in a mirror.
Despite all the fuss, Jingge still didn't wake up.
Li Mushi usually lives alone. He likes simplicity and doesn't like unnecessary things in his house. He even only has one bedroom.
Jingge bed.
He sleeps in the study.
Before going to sleep, Li Mushi fed her medicine and called her name several times. Jing Ge found it noisy, covered her ears with her hands, turned her back to him, and pulled his blanket over her head.
Li Mushi, holding the medicine in his hand, said, "..."
The next morning.
Jingge hunched over, sitting at the dining table like a quail, not daring to lift his eyes.
Until those beautiful cartoon hands handed her the towel wrapped with an ice pack.
Jingge said nervously, "Thank you, Uncle."
"Apply it to your face," Li Mushi said more calmly than her, "not for your hands to use when they're cold."
Jingge quickly said "oh, oh" and pressed the ice pack onto her face.
Li Mushi sighed helplessly, “An injured face.”
"...oh oh."
Jingge, at a loss, switched the ice pack to the other side of her face.
Li Mushi: "Breakfast will be served in ten minutes."
Jing Ge: "Oh, okay."
The chair creaked softly as the man sat down opposite her, casting a shadow over her for a moment, carrying an inexplicable sense of oppression.
Jingge wanted to dig a tunnel and crawl away.
Li Mushi glanced at her: "How much do you remember about last night?"
"...I...I went to the bar to find Li Zhan," Jing Ge stammered, his voice trailing off. "I drank too much, and then I went downstairs to go home...I don't remember."
Li Mushi clasped his hands together and placed them on the table.
Why are you drinking?
Jingge felt the same fear he had when facing the headmaster: "Apologize to him."
Li Mushi: "Why apologize?"
Jing Ge remained silent.
Li Mushi changed his question: "Why did your father take action?"
Jing Ge remained silent.
A noise came from the kitchen; the porridge was ready.
Li Mushi got up, turned off the fire first, and came out carrying a cup of sweet-smelling water.
"Drinking it will help relieve blood stasis and pain."
Jing Ge nodded haphazardly.
Li Mushi sat facing her for a while, then suddenly said, "If it's for the money the Li family gave him, then there's no need for that."
Jing Ge suddenly looked up.
"Uncle, are you aware of this..."
Before he could finish speaking, Jing Ge realized he had made a fool of himself.
How could Li Mushi not know?
The eldest and second eldest sons of the Li family do not handle money.
Li Mushi is the real money-maker for the Li family.
This money was less a gift from the Li family to the Jing family, and more a gift from Li Mushi to Jing's father.
A wave of shame washed over Jingge's pride, making it impossible for her to face the situation naturally.
“Your father thought it was a matter of in-laws, a matter of affection between your second brother and sister-in-law, but in the end, I was the one who made the final decision,” Li Mushi said, looking at her. “To me, it’s just business. I’m a businessman.”
Jingge was confused and looked at him blankly.
Li Mushi: "I read his project plan. Li's risk control department conducted a risk assessment. I only signed my name when it was profitable and had the finance department allocate funds to Jing's. All the funds were transferred through the company's accounts."
"......"
“This is business,” Li Mushi said calmly and coolly, “it’s normal business cooperation.”
It wasn't the Li family giving alms to the Jing family.
It has nothing to do with her engagement to Li Zhan.
The ice pack wrapped in the towel seemed to be melting, and there were faint water stains on Jing Ge's palms.
"Really?"
Li Mushi remained calm and composed: "I don't lie to children."
Jing Ge: "His new company... is it okay?"
Her emotions were extremely complicated. She resented Jing's father for taking money from the Li family, and she was also worried that the new company would go astray and drag the entire Jing family into an abyss.
“I invested money on behalf of the Li family,” Li Mushi said, “because I am optimistic about your father’s decision and the future development of the Jing family.”
Jing Ge's tense nerves inexplicably relaxed upon hearing these words.
"Uncle," she said in a muffled voice.
"Um."
Jing Ge: "I don't want to call you Uncle."
“Hmm,” Li Mushi said nonchalantly, “It’s just a form of address, you can use whatever you like.”
Jing Ge: "Can I just shout whatever I want?"
"Um."
Jingge looked at him and pronounced, "Daddy."
