Chapter 33 Someone's got you hooked.
Jingge recalled Li Mushi's broken fountain pen.
Having received much care and gifts from him, Jingge wanted to reciprocate with a gift.
Are there any around 1000?
"This one, 1299, with the same nib as the Montblanc one," the shopkeeper said, "but it's not in stock, you'll have to wait."
Jingge took the sample and wrote a few words on it. It felt great to the touch, and the pen tip was smooth and fluid.
"Yes, I'd like to order one."
After paying, I took the ticket and left.
Another person came into the store.
The shopkeeper recognized him and said with a smile, "Oh, young master, what brings you to my shop?"
Li Zhan's expression was unreadable: "What was she writing here just now?"
"I haven't written anything, just testing the fountain pen," the shopkeeper tapped on the window and gestured, "This pen is good, the best value for money."
Li Zhan: "She bought it?"
Boss: "Yes, it's custom-made, and we're waiting for it to arrive."
Li Zhan: "Did you say who it was for?"
"How would I know?" the boss said speechlessly. "Why would I ask that?"
Li Zhan sneered.
The boss didn't know, but he did.
Apart from Li Mushi, no one around me likes to use fountain pens.
She really did set her sights on it.
-
Starting the next day, Jingge went to teach the girl an hour of English every day.
And Li Zhan was there every time.
He lay on the rocking chair next to him, his ankles draped over his legs, swaying back and forth as he played games.
The speakers were on.
Jing Ge would stop every now and then and ask, "Is it okay if you wear headphones?"
Li Zhan swung his leg: "No way."
As soon as Jing Ge opened his mouth, a series of loud, crackling sounds of martial arts moves filled the air.
After holding back for a while, Jing Ge looked at the girl opposite him and said, "You should do something about him."
"...I can't control him."
Jing Ge packed his things and stood up: "I have something to do, I'll be leaving now."
Li Zhan stretched out his long leg, blocking her way: "Is it time...?"
Jingge stomped on his shinbone: "If you provoke me again, I'll tell every single elder in your family!"
Li Zhan winced in pain, "Who do you most want to sue?"
Jingge stared down at him: "You really are shameless."
“I’m the lower-ranking one,” Li Zhan laughed, “someone puts you in charge.”
Jingge snatched his phone away and smashed it.
"Stop beating around the bush, just say it outright," Jing Ge said, enunciating each word clearly. "I not only want to seduce your uncle, but also your father, your eldest uncle, your grandfather, and even your husbands. I'm a fucking slut; I've even seduced your fathers-in-law..."
Li Zhan's eyes turned red: "Jing Gege, I'll kill you, you believe me!"
Jingge found it amusing: "You've dated one, two, three people yourself, but you're trying to pin the blame on me. If you want to date, go ahead, I won't stop you, and I won't complain. You don't need to drag me down with you!"
At this point, she went straight to the point: "I won't teach you English anymore, you can teach yourself, teach in bed, you'll learn faster that way, and if you have a child, put it in my name, are you satisfied?"
Li Zhan's body was trembling.
Jingge turned and left.
The last batch of goods has arrived.
Perhaps even the heavens knew her mood, for after a gloomy day, a heavy rain began to fall in the evening.
The remaining batch of goods is all made of alloy and diamond-encrusted materials.
The small box weighs about 60 or 70 kilograms.
Jingge's legs were trembling as he moved the goods, barely managing to get them onto the tricycle.
To prevent the rain from damaging the boxes, Jingge and the tricycle owner covered the goods with a tarpaulin and then wrapped it with several loops of hemp rope.
“Uncle,” Jing Ge was soaked to the bone and had to raise his voice to speak in the downpour, “a box of goods has been kicked into a corner. Please wait a moment while I move it over.”
The car owner, wearing a raincoat, said, "Hey, hurry up, I'll hold up the tarpaulin."
The shop's trolley had been borrowed, so Jingge had to move it herself.
The heavy cargo almost crushed her back. Jingge's dripping hair clung to her fair cheeks and neck. The cargo made her walk slowly and heavily.
But I dare not let go.
I'm afraid that if I put it down, I won't be able to pick it up again.
In a distant corner, Fan Mingjie couldn't bear it any longer: "Brother, let me go help..."
"Help what?" Li Zhan's voice was hoarse. "You're asking for trouble. Would it kill you to soften your tone to me?"
Fan Mingjie whispered, "You...you're so hurtful to my self-esteem. How shameless do you have to be to soften up..."
Li Zhan looked at him with murderous intent.
Fan Mingjie quickly covered his mouth.
The aisle was lined with goods on both sides, and Jingge couldn't see where he was standing. He almost kicked something and fell over.
Staggering to regain his balance, Jingge exhaled and quickly walked outside.
Three-wheeled vehicles are not allowed to enter the market; they can only wait at the exit.
After putting the last box in, Jing Ge wiped the water off his face and smiled, saying, "Thank you for your help. You can go ahead now, I'll be there soon."
Jing Ge went back to her dorm first, took a shower, washed her hair, changed her sanitary napkins, and then changed into clean and comfortable clothes.
Her period made her feel completely drained and exhausted.
The container will arrive the day after tomorrow, and she needs to prepare all the necessary documents in the next two days.
Before he even got to the warehouse, Jing Ge's phone rang.
It was a call from the police station.
Jingge was extremely surprised.
The policewoman said, "Mr. Li is probably busy, I couldn't get through to him on his phone... The suspect has been caught, would it be convenient for you to come and identify him?"
Jing Ge rubbed his lower abdomen: "Okay, that's convenient."
Policewoman: "Do you need Mr. Li to accompany you? I can contact him again..."
“No need,” Jingge quickly replied, “I can manage on my own.”
"Okay, I'll have a colleague come pick you up."
Jing Ge gave his new address.
I never expected to run into Li Mushi at the police station entrance.
The man had clearly arrived before her.
Jingge asked nervously, "Uncle, what brings you here?"
“I saw Officer Liu’s call,” Li Mushi stated matter-of-factly, “and called back.”
"...oh."
"Jingge".
He came suddenly, in a very faint voice.
"ah?"
Li Mushi: "No. 562 Huatongyuan is neither the Jing family's address, nor the Li family's address, nor Womei's company address, nor the market's address..."
Jing Ge felt a chill run down his spine.
That's the address of the company dormitory.
Li Mushi didn't have such strong emotions, but when these words came out one by one, Jing Ge still felt an unbearable pressure.
“That means,” Li Mushi said nonchalantly, “that night, I didn’t take you home.”
Jing Ge's mouth moved a few times.
Li Mushi didn't say much, nor did he blame her. He simply reached out and patted her head, then paused at the wet touch on his fingertips.
"Did you get caught in the rain?"
Jing Ge's face was slightly pale, and he nodded slightly.
She's lost so much weight.
He doesn't look to be in very good condition.
Li Mushi frowned slightly, his hand reaching straight to her forehead before Jing Ge could reflexively dodge.
"It's a bit hot, she might have a fever."
"Oh," Jingge tried to pretend he didn't care, "I'll go back to take my medicine and go to sleep after I've recognized everyone."
Li Mushi seemed lost in thought, his eyes filled with a deep abyss, like a sky shrouded in dark clouds.
The policewoman came out to greet them: "Thank you for your help..."
Li Mushi's tone was somewhat somber: "Would it be convenient to postpone it for an hour? The child is sick, we need to take her to see the doctor first."
