Chapter 35 She guessed where things went wrong.

Chapter 35 She guessed where things went wrong.

Li Mushi drove directly to the restaurant.

Jingla, reluctant to leave the house, seemed to be up to something: "It's too late, let's pack up."

“…” Li Mushi tapped his fingertips on the steering wheel. “The restaurant is open 24 hours a day.”

“Let’s just pack it up,” Jing Ge said reluctantly. “I don’t want to get off the bus; it’s so cold going in and out.”

Li Mushi: "This car won't."

Jing Ge racked his brains: "I... I just want to go back and eat, I want to eat while watching TV..."

Li Mushi simply crossed his arms and looked at her, saying, "I'll lend you my phone. You can eat and watch TV here."

Jing Ge: "N-No, that's not a good idea..."

Li Mushi made a gesture as if to open the door.

Jingge hurriedly tugged at his clothes, deforming his shirt.

"Uncle, can I stay at your house for another night?"

"......"

"Uncle, please," Jingge pleaded pitifully, "I'm afraid to stay in the dormitory by myself tonight."

Li Mushi first grabbed her wrist, then used a little force to pull her hand off his clothes.

Only then did he straighten the shirt collar that had been tightening around his throat back into place.

Jingge has completely collapsed.

He asked someone for a favor and almost strangled them to death.

They expect others to save themselves.

She's so clueless; it's a miracle Li Mushi hasn't beaten her to death.

Li Mushi pinched the bridge of his nose, seemingly in a terrible headache: "Is all this empty talk over?"

"..." Jing Ge regained all her courage when the other party mocked her. No matter who the other party was, she immediately launched a full-scale attack. "You know very well that I am all talk and no action, and you even cooperated back and forth. You should reflect on yourself. Are you not at fault?"

Li Mushi: "."

After saying that, he lost his nerve and Jingge reverted to his cowardly state: "Just for one night."

Li Mushi got out of the car and ignored her completely.

Unable to figure out his meaning, Jingge wanted to try and reason with him further. In any case, she dared not stay in the dormitory alone tonight.

Before she could get out of the car, the driver locked it from the outside.

Jingge was unsure of himself, so he kept tapping his toes on the passenger seat, leaving countless wet shoe prints.

Li Mushi quickly returned with a packing bag.

Jingge leaned back against the chair, closed his eyes, and pretended to be asleep.

The driver's side door opened, revealing a slightly damp, cool layer on the man's body. He casually placed the takeout bag in the back seat.

Those arms are really long; I wonder if they can open the back door with their feet.

Jingge pretended to be asleep while muttering to himself.

Li Mushi didn't call out to her; he silently started the car.

Two minutes after driving off, the man uttered in a low, indifferent voice, "Once fried milk is past its prime, all you'll be left with is tasteless porridge."

Jing Ge immediately opened his eyes.

A single takeout box appeared out of nowhere on the armrest between the two seats.

It contains crispy fried milk with a crispy exterior and tender interior.

Jing Ge reached for the packing box.

The man gazed straight ahead, his expression nonchalant: "Awake?"

"......"

After an awkward silence, Jing Ge suddenly realized that the car was heading towards the official residence.

He agreed to take her in.

With a sudden sense of relief, Jing Ge sat up straight, hugged the milk carton to his chest, and said politely and modestly, "Uncle, can I eat it in your car? Otherwise, it won't be crispy."

Li Mushi replied indifferently, "No."

Jing Ge opened the chopsticks: "Okay, I'll try not to drop any crumbs."

The car was driven very steadily, heading towards the official residence at a leisurely pace.

The girl in the passenger seat ate like a little mouse, making squeaking noises. Occasionally, the little mouse would have a change of heart and ask him if he wanted some, acting extremely possessive of its food.

Li Mushi: "I..."

Jing Ge: "Okay, then I'll eat it all myself."

Li Mushi: "..."

The car was filled with the scent of milk, and upon closer inspection, one could also detect a faint floral fragrance mixed in.

At one point, the car turned into a dark alley surrounded by green trees, and a fleeting smile crossed the man's eyes, hidden in the shadows, so quickly it was like an illusion.

After finishing the fried milk, we arrived at the official residence.

Jingge felt sleepy after eating, and rubbed his eyes until they were red.

Li Mushi frowned in disapproval.

Looking down at the bright reflection from the sedan chair, Jing Ge examined herself: "Uncle, don't always look at me with disdain. I'm dressed pretty well today. Didn't you see how I looked like a beggar a few days ago? Li Zhan..." He even called her a ragpicker.

Mentioning this name makes Jing Ge feel depressed.

Li Mushi looked at her through the sedan chair with unwavering eyes: "Can you read eyes?"

Jingge said dejectedly, "No."

Li Mushi withdrew his gaze and said coldly, "Then don't look around."

"......"

Since it was his second visit, and Jingge knew a little about his character, the first thing he did upon entering the door was to reflexively look at the slippers.

It's not the same pair as last time.

The new slippers were spotless.

He felt like he would throw away anything she had touched, so Jingge didn't bother with that and simply walked barefoot to the bedroom where she had slept last time.

Similarly, the bedding underwent a complete overhaul.

Li Mushi remained in a half-squatting position, holding the slippers, and coldly watched her wander around the room.

Finally, he threw the slippers back into the shoe cabinet, leaving himself barefoot as well.

Jingge sighed quietly.

She will never come again.

If this happens a few more times, Li Mushi will be able to replace this house.

It still hurts my self-esteem a little.

Jingge felt it was presumptuous of him to ask someone to let him stay for one night.

While Li Mushi was tidying up the takeout boxes at the dining table, Jing Ge scrolled through her phone, trying to see who else could take her in.

My college roommates were all from out of town, and they all went back to their hometowns after graduation.

She skipped two grades in junior high and high school and didn't make any friends.

My former girlfriends in the circle also lost touch with each other because of the Jing family's bankruptcy, and it became impossible for our relationships to continue.

Jingge sighed deeply.

Li Mushi sighed so hard his head hurt.

What useless things are you thinking about?

"...Huh?" Jing Ge was slow to react, looking completely bewildered. "Let me see if I have any friends..."

Fortunately, she regained consciousness in time.

He didn't blurt out everything he wanted to say.

Li Mushi sat opposite him, his brows deep and sharp: "What month was the last time you came here?"

Jingge recalled: "February?"

Li Mushi: "What month is it now?"

Jing Ge: "Late April."

Li Mushi: "So?"

"......"

Seeing that she really didn't understand, and that her eyes and brows still showed a charming innocence under the light, Li Mushi suppressed a breath of frustration that he didn't know where it came from: "From winter to spring, do we not need to change our daily necessities?"

Jing Ge: "".

Li Mushi: "Even if we don't change it, it won't need to be cleaned for two months?"

Jingge found him extremely frightening.

He could actually read her thoughts.

Li Mushi frowned: "Can we eat now?"

Jing Ge nodded quickly.

Li Mushi: "Eat."

Jingge held a spoon and kept putting porridge into his mouth.

Li Mushi didn't know whether to be angry or amused: "Just ask me if you have any questions."

She would guess whichever way it was crooked.

Jing Ge nodded haphazardly, completely unaware of what he was saying.

"Jingge," the man suddenly called to her.

Jingge paused: "Huh?"

Li Mushi said sternly, “Repeat what I just said.”

"..." Jing Ge was silent for a few seconds. "You have no obligation...to tell me?"

Li Mushi's forehead twitched.
