Chapter 40: Time to Go Home.

Chapter 40: Time to Go Home.

The next morning, Jing Ge took a taxi to the Li family's house.

Li Zhan was captured by Sheng Man and Li Kaiji last night.

When Jingge arrived, he was still not awake.

Sheng Man told her to go upstairs and call.

Jingge would rather play with the dog than go.

Li Ying shouted, "Mom, go by yourself! My brother has such a terrible temper, who would dare call him?"

“Your older sister will be fine if she calls!” Sheng Man covered her mouth. “You definitely can’t.”

“I don’t want to go,” Jingge muttered. “Aunt Man, I’ll stay here and help you greet the guests.”

Sheng Man: "So early, there are no customers yet..."

Jingge glanced towards the door: "Uncle!"

The man walked over, his feet glistening with dew on the lawn. A cherry tree in the corner of the yard was in full bloom, and a few pink and white petals remaining beneath the leaves fell onto his shoulder.

Li Mushi placed the gift box on the table: "I have to go on a business trip and won't be able to attend today's birthday party."

“Go ahead and do what you need to do,” Sheng Man knew he was only concerned with important matters. “I’ll save you two boxes of good tea later.”

Li Mushi nodded: "Thank you, Second Sister-in-law."

After saying that, he first looked at Li Ying: "We'll be passing by the toy store, what gift do you want?"

Li Ying was extremely excited and rattled off a bunch of random things.

Li Mushi made a note of it, then looked at Jing Ge and asked, "What do you want?"

"..." Jingge feigned indifference, "I guess I won't use it, that would be too embarrassing... How about StellaLou?"

Sheng Man laughed and patted her: "You're still doing this to your uncle."

Jingge's eyes crinkled into a smile.

The breeze on a May morning is warm and pleasant.

Jing Ge called out to the man who was turning to leave: "Uncle."

Li Mushi stopped and glanced at her.

Jing Ge gestured to his shoulder: "Flower."

Two petals fell onto the man's black shirt.

Li Mushi caught a glimpse of it out of the corner of his eye, casually brushed it away, and the petals gently fell onto the grass.

"Alright, Aunt Man, I'm counting on you," Sheng Man said, putting her arm around her and leading her inside. "Go wake Li Zhan up, we need to take pictures when your parents come over."

Jingge had no choice but to go up to the second floor.

Knock on the door, wait.

Five minutes later, the door opened from the inside.

There was no sign of sleepiness in Li Zhan's eyes, as if he had been awake for a long time and did not have the laziness of someone who had just gotten out of bed.

They had a fierce argument last time, and Jingge, being petty and vengeful, didn't want to talk to him at all: "Aunt Man is calling you to get up."

"She called but didn't come herself?" Li Zhan's eyes were icy. "She wants you to come."

Jingge turned and left, saying, "I already called."

Li Zhan suddenly grabbed her hand: "Where's my gift?"

Jing Ge: "Downstairs."

Li Zhan: "What?"

Jing Ge: "Wallet."

Li Zhan: "How much?"

"..." Jing Ge gave him a "Are you out of your mind?" look. "It's the thought that counts when you receive a gift!"

Li Zhan repeated, "I'm just asking you, how much?"

Jing Ge didn't want to speak properly either: "It's worthless. The gift I give is as cheap as I am!"

"Where's your money?" Li Zhan asked, emphasizing each word. "Who did you spend it all on?"

Jingge shook him off: "Don't act crazy towards me first thing in the morning!"

Li Zhan: "Even if I have a seizure first thing in the morning, it's better than you having a seizure first thing in the morning!"

"......"

Jingge didn't know what he was talking about.

She had no idea what she had done to offend him again.

She had clearly tried her best to stay away.

Jingge stomped downstairs.

She seemed to hear them arguing. With a terrible headache, Sheng Man ran upstairs and gave Li Zhan a good scolding.

The wallet that Jingge gave him was in a gift box, tied with a beautiful ribbon.

Li Zhan didn't even look at it, and threw the box and all into the trash can.

Relatives and elders arrived one after another.

For the young master of the Li family's birthday, the gifts were all incredibly precious, so there was no need for her to receive anything special.

Jingge lowered his eyes and helped Zhang Ma collect the trash.

Aunt Zhang still hesitated: "This hasn't been opened, has it? Don't throw the wrong thing away..."

“That’s right,” Jing Ge tied the garbage bag tightly, “It’s just garbage, Li Zhan doesn’t want it.”

Zhang's mother, unsuspecting, placed the overflowing bags of trash outside the yard, knowing that the property management would come and collect them.

All the relatives had arrived, but Jing's father and Cai Zhishan were late.

They are Li Zhan's future father-in-law and mother-in-law, so their status is naturally very important.

Sheng Man pulled her son forward and pinched him, saying, "Call someone."

Li Zhan remained expressionless: "Uncle, Aunt."

Sheng Man secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

Jing's father wanted to put on the airs of a father-in-law, but there was also a subtle hint of humility in his voice: "Is the princess still obedient?"

“What are you saying?” Li Kaiji said jokingly. “Daughters are much more considerate than sons. We’re the ones who benefit.”

Cai Zhi scrutinized Jing Ge's face. The handprint from that day had long since healed. Jing Ge had always said she lived at the Li family's house, but she had never returned to the Jing family's house.

The elders gathered together and teased the two young people.

Li Zhan maintained a sour face throughout and remained silent.

Jingge remained silent, and would frequently find excuses to leave, either to help Zhang Ma with chores or to go out and greet guests.

Finally, it was time to cut the cake.

Everyone cheered, urging Li Zhan and Jing Ge to go cut it together.

Neither of them moved.

It was as if I was glued to the chair.

Jing's father's gaze darkened, and he reprimanded in a low voice, "Jing Ge, what are you doing?"

"It's not my birthday," Jing Ge said, trying to suppress his anger. "Why would I go up there and make a fool of myself?"

Jing's father was furious: "Don't you know anything about right and wrong...?"

Jing Ge jumped up abruptly, making a huge commotion, and all the elders in the group looked over.

Even Li Zhan looked up from his phone.

Jing Geren said, "Cut the cake."

Li Zhan leaned back in his chair, arrogantly saying, "You beg me."

Jingge just wanted to end it all: "I beg you."

Li Zhan: "I'm not satisfied, I'm begging with a smile..."

Jing Ge finally snapped. She grabbed his arm and, taking advantage of his momentary daze, dragged him outside forcefully: "Cut the cake!"

Li Zhan was almost dragged to the ground by her.

"Jing Ge, you're fucking dead..."

Jingge dragged him like a mangy dog, making him stumble and stagger all the way to the cake.

Then, Jingge tore the golden bull off the cake, and stuffed the golden bull's feet, covered in cream, straight into his mouth, making him lick the cream off.

Then put the cake knife in his hand, grab his with both hands, and forcefully cut the cake.

The series of actions were swift and decisive, without a single pause.

The elders stared in astonishment.

Cai Zhi's face turned ugly because of the curse word that Li Zhan blurted out.

Sheng Man was extremely embarrassed. She wanted to mediate, but she was afraid that the two people cutting the cake would start fighting, so she could only keep an eye on the situation for the time being.

Li Zhan finally reacted, slammed the cake knife on the ground, and roared, "Jing Ge, you think I'm giving you a hard time?!"

"Li Zhan!" Old Master Li slammed his hand on the table. "Try saying another word of disrespect!"

What day is today.

The days when Jing's parents were still alive.

How could he be allowed to boss someone else's daughter around like that?

His jaw muscles bulged, and his chest rose and fell.

The old man looked at his son and daughter-in-law: "How did you raise your child?!"

This is real anger.

Li Kaiji and Sheng Man quickly stood up: "Dad, it's all our fault."

“Jing Ge,” Jing’s father said, embarrassed, “has gone home.”

"In-laws, in-laws," Li Kaiji said anxiously, "the child was being ignorant, I'll have him apologize to you..."

Upon hearing that Jing's father had spoken up, Jing Ge immediately turned around.

But her hand was grabbed by Li Zhan the next second.

The frame cannot be opened.

A flicker of tension crossed Li Zhan's eyes: "Where to?"

Jing Ge: "Go home."

You can go home now.

She can go home now.
