Enraged, the man in black roared and launched an even fiercer and faster attack. Ping An and his group were already outnumbered and quickly found themselves at a disadvantage.
The leader of the men in black sneered, stomping his foot hard on the battered and bruised Ping An, grinding his boot into Ping An's hand, and slapping Ping An's face, saying, "Who are you trying to act like a grandpa for! You little brat! Damn it!"
He slapped Ping An hard across the face and then stomped on Ping An's waist. Ping An was in so much pain that he almost fainted, but he gritted his teeth and didn't make a sound.
"He's got some backbone!"
The leader of the men in black laughed. He had lost all interest in tormenting Ping An and turned to the people behind him, giving them a knowing look: "Go! Unload the goods."
His subordinates responded and left.
One of the subordinates hesitated for a moment before cautiously asking, "Brother, we don't have a cart, and it's not easy to carry it all down. We might as well drive the Gu family's cart back to report ourselves..."
The leader of the men in black was taken aback—that makes sense!
But not wanting to appear awkward in front of his subordinates, he raised his hand and slapped the subordinate who had spoken up on the head: "You think you're so smart! You think you're so smart! Huh? Is the Gu family's car so conspicuous? Do you want the whole world to know?"
The subordinate shrank back as he was slapped, and quickly flattered, "Big Brother is so thoughtful."
But then a scream came from the direction of the carriage.
The two hurriedly looked towards the carriage and saw that two or three of the men in black who had gone to the carriage earlier had fallen down around it, while the rest of them remained wary around the carriage and did not move.
"Damn it! What's going on?"
With that, he strode toward the carriage, yanked open the curtain, and cut off the "Be careful, brother" that his subordinate was about to utter.
He only felt a flash of white light before his eyes, and before he could think, he hurriedly flew backward.
The carriage curtain fell, and the scene inside the carriage could no longer be seen. There was no further movement.
The leader of the men in black was so angry that veins bulged on his forehead. He walked up to the carriage, and without even lifting the curtain, he used his large knife to cut it off, finally revealing the scene inside.
A young man held a sword in his hand, carried a box in his arms, and seemed to have hidden weapons in his sleeve.
The man in black exclaimed, "Huh? That's it?"
Wasn't it supposed to be all silver? Turns out it's a man?
Could I have made a mistake? Could it be that my master wants to steal a man but is too embarrassed to say so directly?
He hesitated.
The subordinate who had just asked the question leaned closer and whispered in his ear, "Boss, the goods should be in the box he's holding!"
The leader of the men in black suddenly had the urge to slap his forehead—that's right! Isn't there another box? If it's full of gold, it should be worth a lot of money.
He stepped forward to take the wooden box from Song Lin's hand, but Song Lin refused. Even Ping An was no match for the man in black, let alone Song Lin.
Soon, the box was in the hands of the man in black. Song Lin was already pale and collapsed against the side of the carriage, powerless. Upon closer inspection, it was discovered that his wrist had been severed at the wrist!
The man in black smiled amiably: "You stubborn young man! Just give it to me directly, why go through all this trouble?"
As he spoke, he weighed the wooden box in his hand. It felt so light, as if it were empty.
He hurriedly opened it and found only a few sheets of Xuan paper with writing on them.
The man in black flew into a rage and slammed the box to the ground, whereupon one of his men quickly picked it up.
He grabbed Song Lin by the collar and lifted him up: "Where's the stuff?"
He roared.
Song Lin's eyes were unfocused, and he kept his mouth shut and didn't say anything.
It's also possible that they've lost the ability to speak.
Seeing Song Lin's lifeless state, the man in black knew he was unlikely to get an answer, but he was still furious and slashed at him with his knife.
Soon, Song Lin made no further moves.
The man in black turned and walked towards Ping An, lifting Ping An's head and saying fiercely, "Where's the stuff?"
Song Lin also stared at him coldly, gritting his teeth without saying a word.
Enraged, the man in black raised his knife again, intending to kill Ping An like Song Lin.
His subordinates quickly stopped him: "Brother, you mustn't! Our master said we must try our best to avoid any deaths! Several people have already died!"
The man in black then stopped, spitting on the ground a few times: "What bad luck!"
