Princess Ruining initially did not know what had happened; she only saw a group of people gathered in the Jinyu Tower, making a lot of noise and creating chaos.
Seeing this, she ordered her guards to separate the crowd.
Once the situation was under control, it was seen that the guards had tied a man's hands behind his back while he was cursing, while Yao Niang was protecting Bi Tao and coldly watching the man.
When someone subdued the scoundrel, cheers erupted from the surrounding crowd.
Princess Ruining asked what had happened, and before Yaoniang and Bitao could speak, the onlookers began to tell her the gist of what had happened.
The man, though restrained, remained restless, wriggling like an eel, trying to break free from the guards' grasp.
He was still cursing under his breath: "Who are you, you little bitch, daring to tell me what to do..."
The accompanying guards were terrified by the man's words and their expressions changed drastically.
No one had ever cursed the princess like that before! Without Princess Ruining having to give any orders, she grabbed a rag and quickly gagged the man, only then feeling a little relieved.
He's insulting the princess! This man isn't afraid of death; he might implicate us hardworking guards.
If the emperor knew that they were right there and that this person had the opportunity to disrespect the princess, he would probably be in for a beating.
Princess Ruining, having already been disgusted by the man's frivolous behavior after hearing what had happened, saw that he was still restless and uttering foul language, and couldn't help but shout: "How dare you! In broad daylight, you dare to harass a respectable young man in the street! You have quite the nerve!"
With that drink, her gentle demeanor vanished, replaced by royal majesty that inspired awe in everyone.
The man was also somewhat frightened; his mouth was stuffed with a rag, so he couldn't speak and could only make whimpering sounds.
Only then did Yao Niang, accompanied by the frightened Bi Tao, bow and thank Princess Rui Ning.
Seeing that the man was restrained by the guards and could neither move nor speak, Princess Ruining nodded slightly to her and said:
"Since it's Jin Yu Lou's business, you can handle it yourself."
After saying that, he stood aside without saying anything more.
The man was so frightened by the woman's address to the princess that he lost all his strength and leaned weakly against the guard who had been restraining him.
If it weren't for the guards holding him up, he probably would have already slid to the ground.
Seeing that everyone was looking at her, Yao Niang cleared her throat and spoke loudly:
"Something happened at my Jin Yu Lou today, which has disturbed your enjoyment. Therefore, all the drinks for today will be half price!"
A commotion arose among the crowd, with many people cheering.
Some looked ashamed and said, "Madam, you're too kind. We weren't of much help, and we shouldn't accept such a reward..."
Gu Yaoniang then continued, "It is precisely because I have something I would like to trouble you all with!"
She looked at Princess Ruining and asked for her opinion: "This person is causing trouble in my Jinyu Tower and we have to trouble the princess. Please ask the guard to send this person to the authorities."
Princess Ruining nodded in agreement and gestured to the guards to follow Yaoniang's instructions.
She looked at the people around her and said, "If the Prefect needs corroborating evidence, I ask that you all be my witnesses!"
Those around him readily agreed.
Gu Yaoniang then called out loudly, "My staff at Jin Yu Lou, come and see clearly!"
She pointed at the man whose hands were pinned by the guards and said, "Remember this! This man will not be served at Jin Yu Lou from now on! Jin Yu Lou does not want to earn money from someone who has insulted our staff!"
He then instructed Bitao to take the waiter who had been kicked earlier to the clinic for treatment.
Those who come out to work all hope to find a kind and honest employer. Yao Niang's protectiveness of the Jin Yu Lou employees deeply moved the others.
Praises rang out from all around. Only the troublemaking man felt humiliated and dared not cause any more trouble in front of Princess Ruining. He could only glare hatefully at Yaoniang.
Yao Niang pretended not to see her, took Princess Ruining's hand, and the two went upstairs together.
Once they were seated in the private room, Yao Niang spoke apologetically, "This is the first time I've encountered something like this at Jin Yu Lou, and I have no experience with such things. I'm sorry you had to see this."
Princess Ruining smiled and shook her head, indicating that she didn't care.
She praised, "You did a great job."
He handed the troublemakers over to the authorities without overstepping his bounds; he protected the employees who had been implicated in the incident and gave half-price discounts to those who were disturbed today, thus winning over the hearts of the people.
Both are good.
Yao Niang blushed slightly. She asked, "Why has the princess come today?"
Princess Ruining did not answer.
She couldn't very well say that she came because her father refused to cancel Qin Yuxiu and Aqiu's marriage, and she had argued with him.
Gu Yaoniang didn't ask any more questions. Hearing what she said, she instructed the kitchen to prepare and send over the most popular dishes from Jin Yu Lou.
Seeing that Yao Niang was handling things with ease, Princess Ruining asked, "Are you working at Jin Yu Lou now?"
Yao Niang nodded and said happily, "Yes! I want to learn how to do business. My second uncle said he would let me practice at Jin Yu Lou. He is not satisfied with Jin Yu Lou's revenue. He said that if I can revitalize Jin Yu Lou, he will feel at ease teaching me."
Princess Ruining seemed somewhat worried: "You work at Jinyu Tower, didn't your second uncle provide you with guards? What would you have done if I hadn't come today?"
Seeing that her worry seemed genuine, Gu Yaoniang pretended to be relaxed and said, "Most of the guests who come to Jinyulou are either rich or noble and they all want to maintain a respectable image. Such things are extremely rare today, so don't worry."
Actually, she was also a little scared. But in the end, she couldn't say much in front of Princess Ruining.
Seeing that Princess Ruining seemed a little distracted, she didn't press her for details and instead told her about something interesting.
