Chapter 72 Guests Arrive Like Clouds

Jin Yu Lou has been closed for almost a month.

A few people were scattered throughout the main hall. There weren't many people coming to the tavern during the day, let alone today, which was an auspicious day. Apart from Qin Yuxiu and Xie Danqiu, there were five or six other families in Shuojing City who were getting married.

The whole city was ablaze with vibrant red.

Jin Yu Lou's business became rather sluggish.

Gu Yaoniang shifted her gaze to the window, looking at the pedestrians on Lebao Street.

Suddenly, a smile appeared on her lips: "Here you are."

She got up, stood by the window, and looked down.

A large crowd had already gathered at the entrance of Jinyulou.

In preparation for the planned daily specials, Gu Yaoniang specially arranged for Jin Yulou to set aside a space at the entrance for posting the daily discount list.

Since it was the first day of reopening, a staff member was assigned to stand next to the notice board to call out to customers and explain the business to them.

The two loud-voiced brothers led the way, followed by a large group of people, heading towards Jin Yu Lou. They moved with a gust of wind, making it seem as if they were leading a group to cause trouble.

The young waiter was a little nervous, but since he had received systematic training during the shop's closure, he still greeted everyone with a smile.

"Today, every customer who makes a purchase at Jin Yu Lou, regardless of the amount, will receive a complimentary monthly gift!"

Before the waiter could finish speaking, the younger brother of the loud-voiced brothers impatiently addressed the crowd behind him, saying, "Listen to this! Listen to this! I told you so!"

He spoke with emotion, filled with the joy of finally clearing his name of any "injustice."

Someone in the crowd asked uncertainly, "No matter how much you spend at Jin Yu Lou, will you get a free gift just for entering the store?"

The waiter straightened his back: "Everything is free! Everyone who comes in gets a free meal! Today we also have a half-price dish, Jin Yu Lou's signature dish, 'Golden Jade Abundance'! Sir, would you like to try it?"

While the others hesitated, the loud-voiced brother had already stepped inside, saying as he went, "Then let's start with a Golden Jade Hall."

But as soon as he stepped inside, he stopped and asked the young waiter, "What kind of mooncakes are you delivering today?"

This statement now seems somewhat unreasonable.

The mooncakes were only served when guests entered the restaurant for drinks, so they should have been delivered to the guests upon departure. However, the two brothers were staring longingly at the waiter, looking as if they wanted them right now.

The young waiter clearly had a high level of professionalism; even when faced with such a customer, he still had a smile on his face.

The onlookers were clearly very curious. Most of them were busybodies; even if they saw cats and dogs fighting on the street, they couldn't help but gossip about it.

At this moment, everyone's attention was focused on the loud-voiced brother and the young waiter, and no one spoke up about the brothers' rudeness.

The waiter politely gestured "please," raised his arm to invite the two brothers inside, and then quickly walked to the side.

Only then did everyone notice that, according to custom, there should have been a screen on one side of the passageway leading into the Golden Jade Pavilion. Instead, there was a large table with many mooncakes arranged on it.

The moon-shaped cake was wrapped in oiled paper, and some of the oil seeped through, making the paper somewhat transparent and revealing the shape of the moon inside, with a hint of red on it.

The young waiter brought two mooncakes and respectfully presented them to the loud-voiced brother with both hands.

The two brothers took the mooncake, but instead of going inside, they held it in their hands and examined it.

However, he didn't unfold the oiled paper; he simply twirled it in his hand, seemingly very curious about the oiled paper of the moon cake. This, in turn, piqued the interest of the onlookers.

Everyone's eyes followed the brothers' hands. Just as someone was about to speak up and tell them to quickly unwrap the oil paper, the two seemed to finally hear what others were thinking and slowly unwrapped the oil paper.

As the paper unfolds, the golden outer layer of the mooncake is revealed, along with the delicate red plum blossoms drawn on the crust.

The younger brother was still carefully examining the mooncake, but the older brother didn't have that patience and impatiently put the mooncake into his mouth.

All eyes were on the older brother. The mooncake crust was extremely crispy, and with one bite, crumbs fell uncontrollably.

The older brother was clearly not a particular person; he didn't care about the crumbs that fell, but his eyes lit up, and he took another big bite, and another bite after another.

He didn't stop eating, and in front of everyone, he ate the whole mooncake.

He seemed a little unsatisfied, so he threw the remaining crumbs into his mouth and exclaimed exaggeratedly, "It's so delicious!"

Seeing that his younger brother hadn't touched the mooncake in his hand, he leaned closer and said, "Little brother, if you're not going to eat it, you can give it to me!"

Seeing how much he enjoyed his meal, and how he seemed to want more, the younger brother was clearly not satisfied. He had no intention of sharing his mooncake with his older brother, who had already finished one.

He quickly wolfed down his mooncake as well.

The onlookers' eyes followed the movement of the moon-shaped pastry in his hand. The golden, crispy crust and the red and white filling looked extremely tempting.

As their gazes shifted, everyone's throats visibly bobbed uncontrollably.

Seeing that his younger brother had eaten his share, the older brother knew he wouldn't get any, and hurriedly asked the young waiter, "Young man! This mooncake tastes so unique! It's salty! What kind of filling is it?"

The young waiter smiled and said, "This is a new mooncake developed by our boss, named Golden Ham Pastry. It is made with premium ham from the Min family in Southwest China and the finest wild honey from Xianyu Manor."

When the news reached everyone's ears, they immediately noticed the words "high-quality" and "excellent," and were immediately tempted.

As for which family the Min family of Southwest Road was, and what kind of manor Xianyu Manor was, no one cared whether they had heard of it before.

Upon hearing this, the loud-voiced man was clearly tempted, and his already booming voice rose even higher: "How much is one of these monthly packs? I'll buy ten for myself!"

The young waiter quickly bowed and apologized, seemingly infected by the loud voice of the man before him, and raised his voice a little: "Please forgive us, sir! Jin Yu Lou is reopening today, and it's our first day welcoming customers. This ham pastry is a token of our owner's appreciation to all of you! We are only giving it away today, not selling it!"

Seeing the loud-voiced brothers' reaction, the onlookers became very curious about the taste of the ham pastry. And seeing that it was indeed given away as a free gift upon entering the store, many people who had only come to watch the excitement also went inside.

The ham pastry looks so delicious, and it's a free gift, why not eat it! Money always has to be spent, and today I'm spending it at Jin Yu Lou, plus a free mooncake and half-price dishes. It would be a shame not to take advantage of such a good deal!

The loud-voiced younger brother, seemingly just recovering from the shock of the delicious food, asked persistently after hearing the waiter say that it was only given away and not sold, "If you don't sell today, what about tomorrow? Tomorrow is the Mid-Autumn Festival, will you sell then?"

The crowd that was pouring into Jinyulou slowed down, and seemingly unconsciously, they all pricked up their ears to listen to the waiter's answer.
