Chapter 9 I Like Chasing People

After the last class in the morning, Yin Jiu received a call from Hu Zheng, which was a bit unexpected. After all, Yin Jiu thought that after being seen in such a ferocious state by Hu Zheng, this old classmate would never contact him again.

But since the person called, Yin Jiu answered the phone.

As soon as the call was connected, Hu Zheng couldn't wait to say, "Brother, guess where I am now?"

Yin Jiu jokingly replied: "It won't be in our school."

Hu Zheng was surprised and asked, "Hey, are you cheating? You guessed it just by guessing it casually?"

Hu Zheng said, "Really? Why would I lie to you? I'm in the third canteen of your school right now. I heard people say that the food in the canteen of Nanjing University is delicious. I happened to have nothing to do, so I came to see if it was true. But I found out that you have to swipe your student card to eat here. I thought about it and found out that you are an acquaintance of mine in Nanjing University. Are you free now? If you don't have anything to do, come and treat me to a meal."

"Okay, wait for me for a moment, I'll be there soon." It was just a meal, a meal in the cafeteria. It was such a small thing, there was no reason for Yin Jiu to refuse.

Although Yin Jiu has a unique personality and is a widower who is laughed at even by the system, he does not mind interacting with someone if he really meets someone he is compatible with.

Just like a few roommates, we feel like we can get along well and occasionally have a meal or play ball together.

Yin Jiu felt that Hu Zheng was a person worth making friends with.

Over there, after getting a positive answer, Hu Zheng's tone of voice became higher, and he said happily: "I knew you were reliable, I'll wait here, don't let me go."

After hanging up the phone, Yin Jiu walked towards the third canteen.

There are six canteens in Nanjing University, and three canteens are located in the campus of the School of Economics. It is not far away when Yin Jiu walks there, so he didn’t think much about it at the moment.

When he met the person and saw Hu Zheng, who was well-dressed and had a handsome hairstyle, Yin Jiu began to figure out what was going on.

But on the surface, he remained calm and walked past with a normal look, asking casually, "Are you here alone?"

"How many others are there?" Hu Zheng answered casually.

The two entered the cafeteria, and Hu Zheng asked, "Do you have any recommended dishes?"

Yin Jiu glanced at the window where the dishes were served and said, "Let's have the pork ribs in broth and the beef brisket stewed with potatoes. These two are considered the signature dishes of the Third Canteen."

Hu Zheng nodded and said, "Then order these two."

Yin Jiu swiped his meal card, ordered these two dishes, and added a vegetarian dish. As for himself, he only ordered a bowl of noodles.

After finding an empty seat facing each other, Hu Zheng asked in confusion, "Is this all you're going to eat?"

Yin Jiu said, "I've been feeling sick these past two days, so I'm going to eat something light."

Hu Zheng had originally wanted to share some food with him, but changed his mind after hearing this.

While eating, Hu Zheng asked, "Are you free this afternoon? If you have nothing to do, can you take me around the school?"

"Okay, I'll show you around." Yin Jiu didn't say he had classes. There was no need for that, and it wasn't a compulsory course. If you miss it, then you miss it. People only come here once. We are classmates, so I'll do my best to be a good host.

After dinner, Yin Jiu took Hu Zheng for a casual stroll around the school. Hu Zheng said with emotion: "A top university is a top university. The area alone is ten times larger than our school. If I had worked harder, it would have been great to be your alumnus."

Yin Jiu didn't respond.

The two of them strolled around for an hour or so, talking intermittently. Hu Zheng talked a lot and tried to liven up the atmosphere, but Yin Jiu's answers were brief. He wasn't cold, and he also talked and laughed, but Hu Zheng could feel that the other person felt distant.

He was not stupid and he soon figured it out.

When they reached the artificial lake, Hu Zheng said, "We've been walking for so long, let's sit down for a while."

Yin Jiu had no objection, so he found a stone bench and sat down at both ends.

However, the artificial lake is a popular date spot for couples, and it looked quite awkward for the two of them to sit so far apart.

After a long silence, Hu Zheng smiled bitterly and said, "You, have you figured it out?"

Since he didn't hide it, Yin Jiu was happy to speak out: "What do you think, you want to seduce me?"

"Can you be more tactful? You're so blunt. It's driving me crazy." Although he said others were blunt, Hu Zheng's words were even blunter. He changed his tone and asked, "Do you think I have a chance? Or, will you give me a chance?"

Anyway, he had lost all his face last time, so Hu Zheng was not afraid of losing face now.

Yin Jiu placed his arms on the back of the long stone bench, leaned back slightly, and said in a relaxed tone, "I didn't send you off last time, but I already told you the answer."

Hu Zheng thought about it and couldn't help cursing: "Fuck, I was wondering why you were so inhumane that day. You had to send someone to pick me up. I guess you were on guard against me at that time? Are you a human being? I just had that thought in my mind at that time. I didn't even figure it out myself, but you were on guard against me?"

Yin Jiu just smiled and said nothing.

"I'm convinced, really. No wonder all those girls in high school said you were hard to chase. With someone like you, who could get you unless you were willing?" Hu Zheng was really convinced.

It took him half a month to make up his mind to come and find Yin Jiu. It was not for any other reason, but he felt that a man like Yin Jiu who looked like a playboy was either a true playboy or a true lover.

There's no harm in giving it a try. If it works, you'll be so laughing that you'll die. If it doesn't... then it won't work.

Although Hu Zheng was joking, he felt a little sad in his heart. This was considered as two failed relationships in a row, right?

Yin Jiu also replied in a relaxed tone: "Actually, I'm an easy guy to chase." Seeing Hu Zheng's expression change, he added: "But I just like chasing people."

Hu Zheng asked: "From what you said, this is a goal?"

"Almost." Without further ado, Yin Jiu said, "Next time if you want to eat at the NCU cafeteria, just borrow a card from a random classmate in the cafeteria. Our NCU classmates are quite helpful."

Hu Zheng looked depressed and forced a smile, "Okay, I'll remember it next time. Do you have any plans later? If you have something to do, you can go do it first. Don't worry about me. I'll go shopping by myself."

Since they met, Yin Jiu would check his phone from time to time. Even while sitting here at the artificial lake, he had checked it several times in such a short period of time.

Hearing him say this, Yin Jiu didn't hesitate and stood up and said, "Then I'm really leaving."

"Let's go, let's go. Goodbye, I won't see you off." Hu Zheng waved his hand.

Yin Jiu really left, but he didn't walk far. He stopped in front of a bush about ten meters away, then bent down and asked with a smile: "Why are you squatting here? Are you peeking?"

Ning Changyue looked up and met his gaze.

"I'm asking you, what are you doing squatting here?"

Seeing that Ning Changyue was staring at him without saying anything, Yin Jiu asked again.

Ning Changyue blinked and then said, "I'm waiting for you."

Yin Jiu pulled him up and said, "Let's go."
