Chapter 9: Punishment Doubled

Chapter 9: Punishment Doubled

Jiang Siyu looked up at An Ning, who was stammering, and that emotionless glance felt like a heavy hammer blow to An Ning's heart.

She didn't know why this girl, who looked even younger than her, had such a powerful aura, but she knew that if she continued to be timid and hesitant, there was no point in her being the president's assistant.

Taking a deep breath, An Ning replied quickly and clearly, "Vice President Lin and his assistant haven't arrived yet."

Everyone present was shrewd and had clearly noticed that Vice President Lin hadn't arrived yet.

Now that Jiang Siyu knows about this, how she handles it will determine how they should deal with the new president.

Jiang Siyu did not show the displeasure some had expected. She calmly confirmed with An Ning:

Have you communicated the information effectively?

An Ning nodded: "I specifically went to Vice President Lin's office three minutes ago to remind him."

Although An Ning was an old hand at observing mirrors, she knew that Jiang Siyu was her direct superior.

As someone in the same boat, she naturally didn't want Jiang Siyu to clash with the company's old captain, which is why she specifically went to remind Vice President Lin.

However, it seems that they don't give her any face.

“OK.” Jiang Siyu turned her gaze away from An Ning and looked at the woman sitting in the third row to her right:

"Minister Wang, how does the company punish employees who are late or absent from important meetings without a valid reason?"

Wang Xue never expected that she would be the first person to be called on at today's meeting.

Under Jiang Siyu's sharp gaze, she involuntarily straightened her back before replying:

"company……"

"Sorry I'm late." A voice suddenly sounded at the door, interrupting Wang Xue before she could finish speaking.

Wang Xue glanced nervously at the relaxed Vice President Lin, still wondering what to do, when Jiang Siyu's voice came again.

She tapped the table lightly with her knuckles. "Continue."

The two concise yet irrefutable words instantly put everyone present on edge.

Lin Sui also keenly sensed that something was amiss in the conference room. He moved his lips and continued:

"I'm sorry, Mr. Jiang, something came up and I was a little late. I hope I didn't take up too much of your time?"

Seeing that Jiang Siyu was only staring at the computer in front of her and didn't even glance at him, Lin Sui felt a lump in his throat but had to hold it in.

Seeing that he wanted to speak again, Wang Xue quickly seized the opportunity to answer Jiang Siyu's question.

"Company policy stipulates that anyone who is late or absent from an important company meeting without a valid reason will be given a warning and have all of their monthly performance bonus and performance pay deducted after verification."

As soon as Wang Xue finished speaking, Jiang Siyu hummed in response, and turned her chair halfway to face Lin Sui, who was standing there awkwardly.

She leaned back in her chair and tapped her crossed legs slightly.

"As a long-time employee of Guanjing, Vice President Lin is surely more familiar with the company's regulations than I am. Do you have any objections to this punishment?"

The moment Wang Xue finished speaking, Lin Sui knew that while he wanted to give Jiang Siyu a hard time, she had no intention of letting him off the hook either.

But I shouldn't have acted impulsively and given Jiang Siyu leverage over me.

Realizing this, Lin Sui felt a pang of regret.

Sitting in his position, his monthly performance bonus and income would already be a considerable sum, and having it deducted like this made Lin Sui's heart bleed.

He took a deep breath: "President Jiang, I was just a few minutes late because I was busy with other things. As a long-time employee of the company and in the position of vice president, I have a lot of things to do."

President Jiang is new and probably doesn't know yet, is there any need to make such a big deal out of it?"

His words were barbed, but Jiang Siyu remained calm and composed.

“Evidence,” she began.

Lin Sui was taken aback: "What evidence?"

“Prove to me that you’re busy with important matters. I, Jiang Siyu, only look at the facts.”

Lin Sui was deliberately wasting time in the office; he didn't really have any evidence to offer.

His smile froze slightly, a hint of resentment in his eyes at Jiang Siyu's ruthlessness.

His words just now clearly gave her a way out. Since Jiang Siyu wants to break off relations, then she shouldn't blame him for being ruthless.

A glint of ruthlessness flashed in Lin Sui's eyes, but he shrugged innocently.

"I'm sorry, Mr. Jiang, I can't produce the evidence you're talking about. But as a key member of the company, I, Lin Sui, have worked hard for the company over the years and I believe I have a clear conscience."

"If President Jiang is going to start this fire as a new official, then I, Lin Sui, will accept it."

Upon hearing this, Jiang Siyu's eyes turned even colder.

Trying to appeal to her emotions? Or using your seniority to intimidate me?

Her lips, which had been barely curved, slowly curved into a smile: "Vice President Lin is right."

Seeing Jiang Siyu smile and agree with him, Lin Sui relaxed a little.

He said, "How much courage does this vase have to argue with me? It easily bowed its head."

Lin Sui smiled smugly, but before he could say anything to ease the tension, Jiang Siyu said with a smile:

“As a long-time employee of the company, Vice President Lin still knowingly violated the rules. I would be doing myself a disservice if I didn’t use you to establish my authority. So…”

"The punishment will be doubled as a sign of my respect for your old bones."

Lin Sui's smile froze on his face. "President Jiang!"

"Isn't this punishment too harsh!"

"Shall we pass?" Jiang Siyu glanced at him, her shadow gracefully returning to its original position.

"Wasn't this something you, Vice President Lin, worked hard to achieve?"

She placed her fingers on the conference table, her gaze sweeping over each face in the room.

Lin Sui's angry gaze was almost tangible, but Jiang Siyu's expression remained calm.

"As the branch manager directly appointed by the company, I know there are many who disagree with me. For example, our Vice President Lin..."

"However, if you disagree with me, you can openly question me to my face. I, Jiang Siyu, may be younger than you seniors, but that doesn't mean I know less than you."

"As the company's vice president, all he knows how to do is play such childish and stupid tricks. No wonder the company's revenue has not even made it into the top ten in the country in recent years."

"Jiang Siyu, anyone can talk big!" Now that things had come to a head, Lin Sui didn't hold back anymore.

"But what if you take office and the company doesn't even achieve its previous results? That would be a real laughing stock."

Jiang Siyu raised an eyebrow and looked at Lin Sui, who had already walked to his seat and lazily sat down:

"What if my performance after taking office surpasses Vice President Lin's best performance in all his years of hard work at the company?"

Lin Sui squinted. It wasn't that he looked down on Jiang Siyu, but the domestic market was already saturated. For Jiang Siyu to surpass his achievements in a short period of time was wishful thinking!

Seeing Jiang Siyu's confident demeanor, Lin Sui thought for a moment and slowly said:

"Since President Jiang is so confident, how about we make a bet?"
