Yuan Jiang's heart paused for a moment, then began to pound rapidly, as if it were about to burst out of her chest.
In that instant when their eyes met, she clearly felt a sharp gaze probing from the depths of her soul, as if trying to see through her eyes and stare intently at her. That sharp, dark gaze had the sharpness to pierce through the fog and went straight into her heart.
Yuan Jiang was even momentarily dazed. Under Lou Ji's gaze, she felt as if she had been seen through, as if all her secrets were exposed to him.
This feeling was subtle, and it made her uneasy.
She subconsciously fluttered her eyelashes, her beautiful brows furrowing slightly, a sense of unease creeping into her heart as she wondered if Lou Ji... knew she was a demon?
But then he thought again, she was a fox spirit with 100,000 years of cultivation. Lou Ji didn't have any divine artifacts, nor was he a Heavenly-level demon hunter, so it was impossible for him to see through her true form.
Thinking of this, Yuan Jiang slowly exhaled a breath of stale air, lowered her eyes and rubbed against Lou Ji's neck, letting out a soft, coquettish hum: "My lord, why don't we find a place to rest? Jiang Jiang is tired."
Her thick, dark eyelashes drooped down, beautiful like small fans, casting a shadow on her flawless white eyelids.
A dark glint flashed in Lou Ji's dark eyes. He narrowed his eyes slightly and looked at Yuan Jiang. Then, he smiled gently.
"Am I carrying her wrong? Jiang Jiang has been on my back the whole time, is she tired too?"
Yuan Jiang gently bit her lip and nodded heavily: "It's just tiring."
"Then let's walk a little further ahead."
Lou Ji raised the last syllable of his voice, which sounded like a melodious bell. His well-defined fingers tightened slightly as he turned his head and stepped to the left.
Yuan Jiang's fingers twitched slightly as she glanced at the ginseng demon trembling in her sleeve, her heart sinking.
This deep mountain stretches as far as the eye can see, seemingly impossible to escape no matter how far you walk. The air is filled with a fresh, natural fragrance, yet the atmosphere is inexplicably oppressive.
As darkness fell, Lou Ji, Yuan Jiang, and Lou Wuyou rested in a desolate mountain cave. Yuan Jiang looked at the small fire in front of her with a complicated expression.
Or is she overthinking it?
Lou Ji and Sha Chun really don't know each other?
The next second, an excited, silly female voice suddenly rang out:
"Brother and sister! Here! We can get out of here!"
Yuan Jiang paused for a moment, then turned her head to look. She saw Sha Chun grinning and chuckling, looking innocent and naive.
She licked her lips, turned her face to look at Lou Ji sitting opposite her, who looked calm, and tentatively asked, "My lord, Sha Chun said you can get out of there? Get out of there where?"
Lou Ji lifted his eyelids and slowly said, "I don't know either. Why don't we go and take a look together?"
A chill ran through Yuan Jiang's heart. She nervously clenched the hem of her clothes and forced herself to say, "Okay."
Inside the deep, dark cave, there was a long passage with the sound of dripping water. Occasionally, a stark white human skeleton could be seen in the corner illuminated by a match. Yuan Jiang pretended to be timid and trembled, shrinking into Lou Ji's arms.
In the dim, hidden light, the boy's cold and sharp features flickered in and out of focus, making his delicate and handsome features appear even more feminine. His beautifully curved chin was slightly raised, and his dark, phoenix-shaped eyes gazed at Yuan Jiang with a deep, unfathomable look. He smiled slightly and reached out his hand to her: "Come with me, Jiang Jiang."
Bang, bang, bang
