Meanwhile, inside the fox den, Yuan Jiang slowly opened her eyes. The den was pitch black, and a refreshing and pleasant fragrance filled the air.
That was a unique fragrance belonging to Lou Ji.
Yuan Jiang blinked slowly, and with a gentle wave of her hand, the candles in the cave lit up. She stared at the ceiling of the bed for a long time in a daze before she finally remembered, "Where did Lou Ji go?"
After her memory returned, she didn't pay much attention to Lou Ji, leaving him in a corner before falling asleep. She woke up once during this time, and Lou Ji was squatting by the bed like a ghost, staring at her with his scarlet eyes, looking at her with a sinister gaze.
Startled, she kicked Lou Ji in the face and yelled at him not to stare at him! Then she turned her head and went back to sleep.
Yuan Jiang took two deep breaths, threw off the covers and got out of bed, walking towards the cave entrance in her fluffy rabbit fur shoes.
There was a barrier inside the cave entrance. As soon as she stepped out of the barrier, a breeze carrying the scent of bamboo blew in her face, causing a slight tingling sensation on her delicate, snow-white face.
"Jiang Jiang, why aren't you wearing more clothes?"
As a hoarse, weak voice rang out, a pinkish-white cloak was draped over Yuan Jiang's shoulders. She turned her head and saw Lou Ji standing beside her, wearing a thin, emerald-green robe.
Compared to his initial high spirits, Lou Ji now looked somewhat disheveled, his expression cautious and uneasy, as if he was afraid that he had done something wrong again and angered her.
"What about you? Why aren't you wearing more clothes?" Yuan Jiang asked.
Lou Ji pursed his lips, gazing at her beautiful, charming fox-like eyes, his own eyes reddening as he stared at her.
The woman wore a thin, pinkish-white silk dress, her long, soft, black hair cascading down her slender back. Her face, though unadorned, was charming and alluring, and her gaze towards him revealed a long-lost tenderness.
His voice was soft and hoarse: "This is the only dress I have, Jiang Jiang."
"I just want to find you as soon as possible. I haven't had a good night's sleep or a proper meal in ages."
Lou Ji looked up and touched his swollen forehead, his fingertips turning white. Suddenly, he clenched his fist, pressed it to his lips, and hunched his back, coughing, "Cough cough cough..."
His brows furrowed slightly, and a blush of pink appeared around his eyes as he coughed. He looked at her with teary eyes and said, "Jiang Jiang, you won't leave me again, right?"
He appeared vulnerable and anxious, his blood rushing to his head, a blush creeping onto his pale cheeks. His wet eyes were pitiful, like a fawn begging for forgiveness after making a mistake, making anyone who saw him feel sorry for him.
Seeing his pitiful appearance, Yuan Jiang looked away from him, took off her cloak and draped it over him: "I will not leave you."
"Jiang Jiang!" Lou Ji's face lit up with joy, and he excitedly grabbed Yuan Jiang's wrist and pulled her into his arms.
Yuan Jiang's cheeks were wet. She pushed him away with her small hands on his chest. Looking down, she saw that Lou Ji had a five or six-pound fish stuck in his left hand with a long stick!
Lou Ji saw her staring at the fish, looking like she wanted praise, and held the fish up in front of Yuan Jiang: "Jiang Jiang, I caught it for you to eat!"
"are you hungry?"
"I'll bake it for you right now!"
Yuan Jiang's lips moved slightly: "Aren't you cold?"
Lou Ji shook his head, then nodded, gazing intently at her with a burning look in his eyes: "So cold."
