His eyes were filled with expectant smiles as he took the cigarette from between his fingers and asked casually, "Is it okay?"
"No, I have something to do." Yuan Jiang shook her head and refused, glancing at the cigarette between his fingers with some disdain. She raised her hand to brush away the smell of smoke from her nose and walked past him to leave.
Gu Sheng raised an eyebrow in surprise, then smiled, threw away his cigarette butt and stomped it out. His slightly drooping hair concealed the disappointment in his eyes from the rejection. He took a step forward and chased after her, stopping Yuan Jiang from opening the car door.
"Gu Sheng." Yuan Jiang's brows furrowed with anger. "Get out of the way."
It's almost eight o'clock now, which is rush hour. It will probably take about an hour to get home, and she doesn't want to keep Shen Xiaomin waiting too long.
Gu Sheng pursed his lips, lowered his eyelids to stare at her angry face, and smiled casually: "What is it?"
"Could you tell me?"

After being stuck in traffic all the way, Yuan Jiang rushed home, arriving at 10 o'clock.
Standing in front of Shen Xiaomin's door, Yuan Jiang hesitated before raising her hand. Just as she was about to knock, the door opened a very shallow crack, revealing complete darkness inside, with no lights on.
"Xiao Min?" she asked tentatively.
She was met only with an eerie silence.
Yuan Jiang pursed her lips, placed her slender, fair hand on the doorknob, and slowly pushed the door open.
The next second, a hand covered in scars and with clearly defined bones grabbed Yuan Jiang's wrist and pulled her inside.
