Chapter 331 The Cat Demon Abused by the Hypocritical Heiress 4 (1/2)

——

For the next five days, Yuan Jiang visited the pet hospital to see the tabby cat every day and bought cat food, cat litter, a cat bed, cat toys, and other items to take home and decorate.

She quickly became familiar with the hospital staff, and He Li would report the tabby cat's condition to her every day. Even though Yuan Jiang's replies were lukewarm, he didn't mind at all.

It was Saturday. As usual, Yuan Jiang would come to the hospital to visit the tabby cat at 2 p.m., but it was already 3 p.m. and Yuan Jiang was still nowhere to be seen.

He Li sat in his office, his narrow phoenix eyes fixed on the monitor outside the door. After waiting for another ten minutes, he swiped his phone screen, hesitated for three minutes, and finally sent a text message: Are you coming today?

With no reply coming in, He Li's brows furrowed even more, and a barely perceptible worry and restlessness flashed in his deep eyes.

He pursed his lips again and again, then chose to make a voice call to Yuan Jiang via WeChat.

Still no one answered.

He Li pressed the tip of his tongue against his back teeth and, in a fit of desperation, made a video call.

The phone rang for half a minute, and just when He Li thought it was going to be hung up again without anyone answering, the call was answered.

“Hello…” A low, husky voice rang out. In the dim light, the girl slept on a snow-white pillow. Her skin was crystal clear, and her thick, long eyelashes trembled slightly without lifting. A strange, blush appeared on her cheeks.

A glance downwards reveals a long, delicate neck, covered by soft bedding, revealing her fragrant shoulders adorned with thin heel straps.

He Li's eyes darkened, and his voice became somewhat hoarse: "Are you sick?"

Hearing the male voice coming from the phone, Yuan Jiang casually placed the phone next to her pillow, slowly opened her eyes, stared blankly at the ceiling with a hazy consciousness, raised her hand to touch her forehead with the back of her hand, and said in a hoarse voice, "I must have a fever."

She glanced to the side and saw the open French windows.

City A has been experiencing continuous rain lately, and the winds blowing in carry a chill.

"Where are you?" He Li frowned, his eyes revealing an unspeakable anxiety. He subconsciously stood up, grabbed his car keys, and strode towards the door.

"I'll go to the hospital myself. Tell the kitten that I might have to visit it a little later today... cough cough... cough cough cough!" Yuan Jiang coughed, and a thin blush appeared around her fox-like eyes, revealing a fragile charm.

She hung up the phone after she finished speaking.

Holding the phone that had ended the video call, He Li's long, dark eyelashes trembled and gently fell to his eyelids, casting a shadow. He pressed the tip of his tongue against his left cheek and exhaled a deep breath.

They lifted themselves up and walked into the inpatient area, arriving at the tabby cat's ward.

After several days of careful care at the hospital, the tabby cat's condition has improved a lot. The wound on its leg is slowly healing, and it is now able to stand up shakily. However, it likes to huddle in a corner, staring warily at the door with its emerald green eyes.

As soon as He Li opened the door, he met the tabby cat's wary eyes.

He smiled wryly, "You're just like your master, so wary of me."

The tabby cat paused, its gaze lingering. The girl had been coming to see it at the same time every day for the past few days, but she hadn't arrived yet, so late today…

It thought darkly, "Could something have happened on the way?"

"Are you worried about her too?" He Li asked softly, looking at the tabby cat huddled in the corner.

The tabby cat's eyes widened slightly. What was it worried about? What did it have to worry about?

Wait, what happened to that human girl?

He Li clearly noticed that the tabby cat's wary expression gradually turned serious, and chuckled, "She's sick."

"I'll be a little late to see you today. Be good, and when she comes, don't be irritable with her. Just be a little affectionate with her, okay?"

The tabby cat closed its eyes and pretended to be dead, its ears quietly perking up.

With a "click," He Li closed the door and left.

The tabby cat opened its eyes instantly, its emerald green pupils filled with a gloomy emotion, its dark gaze fixed intently on the tightly closed door.
