Chapter 59 A Dream Interpretation: So, I'll go.

Chapter 59 A Dream Interpretation: So, I'll go.

(59)

The E'long, one of the three legendary evil creatures of antiquity, is said to have wreaked havoc on the cultivation world for over a thousand years before disappearing without a trace. Records about this evil creature are extremely scarce; apart from this portrait, there is nothing else. It was because of its truly bizarre and terrifying appearance that Yan Xinbai remembered it so vividly.

After hearing his words, Gu Ye picked up the paper and whispered, "I see. What is this E'long for, and why did it appear on Master?"

Yan Xinbai coldly withdrew his gaze, his tone as icy and distant as snow, clearly determined to sever ties with them. "How would I know? The E'long is powerful. Perhaps the Shang family ancestors made some kind of deal with the E'long, which is why one person ascends to immortality every three hundred years."

Hearing his words, Gu Ye pondered for a moment and felt that what he said seemed to make some sense.

The idea that only one person ascends to immortality every three hundred years is already inconceivable. How can anyone be born with immortal bones and be cursed with lightning marks?

It sounds like one of the merchant's ancestors "borrowed" the power of the dragon.

Gu Ye told Chu Li about this, and Shang Jinyue was also listening in.

Chu Li and Shang Jinyue spoke almost simultaneously, "How is this possible?"

Neither of them believed it, because no one in the Shang family had ever had any connection with demons, let alone the ancient evil. It was a case of a righteous family turning evil. Shang Xinglan's fall into demonic possession was due to amnesia, and he only remembered nothing after regaining his memories. He carried the Soul Cleansing Spring to wash away the demonic energy not long after. How could the people of the Shang family have any dealings with the evil?

However, they couldn't find a suitable reason to refute Gu Ye, and Chu Li became increasingly uneasy, feeling that something was going to happen.

If the merchants really did borrow the power of the dragon, it does seem to explain why there is the curse of the lightning mark.

She instructed Gu Ye to investigate Erlong thoroughly, and also asked Shang Jinyue to try to find out if any of the elders of the Shang family knew any clues.

After finishing all this, Chu Li returned to the ancestral hall with a heavy heart. Shang Xinglan was still soaking in the pool, and the little cub was obediently guarding him, munching on a pear.

"Mother, the monster has shrunk."

Chu Li listened in astonishment and quickly went over to look. Sure enough, the dragon pattern on Shang Xinglan's body seemed to have shrunk. The lightning lines no longer spread, and the lightning that had originally climbed to behind his ears had now returned to his neck, as if it had been suppressed by Shang Xinglan.

Some distance from the center of the pool, she couldn't see very clearly, so she simply took off her shoes and socks and waded into the water to Shang Xinglan's side.

The closer she got to him, the stronger his spiritual energy became. Chu Li could even feel her body becoming much lighter.

She pursed her lips and couldn't help but reach out and hug him.

With that thin inner garment in hand, Chu Li carefully felt the slow but powerful beating of his heart, and her panicked heart gradually returned to its place.

"You must survive, Shang Xinglan."

Even though she knew he couldn't hear anything, Chu Li still whispered in his ear, "Don't die, or I'll immediately take Yin Yin and remarry Gu Ye."

With no response from the other party, Chu Li climbed out of the pool somewhat disappointed. The little boy ran over and handed her a towel, whispering, "Mother, he'll be alright. You can help him."

Hearing his words, Chu Li smiled and asked, "How did you know? Did he tell you?"

The little boy shook his head seriously and said, "Someone else told me."

Chu Li's smile froze. She looked around and asked in a low voice, "Who?"

Besides their family, who else is here?

“The poet.” The little boy ran to get Shang Liuyu’s poetry collection again, flipped through it, stopped at one page, and showed it to Chu Li. “Mommy, look, he wrote it on there.”

Chu Li stared at him in astonishment, then took the poetry collection. She had thought it was just some doggerel that Shang Liuyu had casually written, but upon closer inspection, she found that it actually contained some trivial matters.

It seemed that he had been in the ancestral hall for too long and could no longer write poetry, so he began to record the weather, his mood, and his progress in cultivation every day.

On March 8th, Shang Liuyu unexpectedly discovered that his cultivation speed had increased after he blocked his five senses. However, he soon stopped using this method to cultivate because he loved drinking too much and had to drink a pot every day to enjoy himself. Blocking his five senses felt like he was dead, which did not align with his pursuit of pleasure.

On March 9th, he drank too much and wrote several long, nonsensical poems, saying that he hated cultivation and only wanted to ascend to the immortal realm to drink with the gods every day.

On March 10th, Shang Liuyu finally wrote something substantial. While admiring his perfect body in the mirror, he unexpectedly discovered that the lightning marks on his body looked like a monster. Unfortunately, he didn't recognize what kind of monster it was. He asked his wife to help suppress it, and the monster pattern quickly disappeared, as did the lightning marks.

He also said that there were only one or two days left until his ascension, and he hoped that there would be good wine to drink in the heavens.

On March 11th, he wrote nothing.

On March 12th, Shang Liuyu wrote a few words in a sloppy hand, but perhaps because he was about to ascend to heaven soon, he was in a hurry and ascended to the heavenly realm before he could finish writing them. Chu Li was unable to understand the meaning of those crooked words.

Chu Li carefully examined the last words for a while, but couldn't make out what they said, so she had to give up.

"Mommy, look, you can help suppress it." The little boy didn't know what suppression was; he only knew that it said his wife could help.

Chu Li clutched the poetry collection tightly, her head aching, but her mind was filled with the words the sect leader had said when he expelled them from the merchant guild.

"You will kill him, and you will kill yourself."

She is not a woman of the Yin element at all, so how could she help him suppress Yin like Shang Liuyu's wife?

Fortunately, Shang Xinglan managed to suppress the lightning marks somewhat on her own; otherwise, she would have stormed out and begged Chu Shuyi for help.

Chu Li dried herself off and began to anxiously peruse the books left behind by her predecessors.

Judging from those notes, all the Heavenly Yin Maidens had helped those who ascended to immortality alleviate the lightning marks, and those who ascended to immortality were indeed quickly unharmed. Therefore, no one recorded this matter in detail, since the Heavenly Yin Maidens were used to helping alleviate curses.

She closed the books, pinched her forehead, and stared restlessly at Shang Xinglan in the pool.

He can only rely on himself now, and he must be feeling very sad.

Shang Xinglan sat quietly in the pool, her expression showing no sign of pain, but rather as calm as a deep pool without any ripples.

Chu Li carried the baby back to the bed to sleep. No matter what, she had to believe in him now.

Seven days passed, and Shang Xinglan's cultivation seemed to be increasing rapidly, but for some reason, he still hadn't unlocked his five senses to talk to her.

As usual, Chu Li took the food and ate with the little one, then lay on the tatami mat to read together.

The afternoon sun shining through the window warmed her, making her feel lazy and languid. The little boy recited Shang Liuyu's poems in her ear, and Chu Li quickly fell asleep.

In a half-dreaming, half-awake state, she thought she heard someone calling her.

"Young lady, young lady?"

Chu Li rubbed her eyes, sat up from the soft couch, and looked up to see Shang Xinglan smiling at her.

"Huh?" She was stunned for a moment, then said incredulously, "You've finished your cultivation and ascended?"

Shang Xinglan shook her head and said in a low voice, "I am not your husband, I am Shang Liuyu, the owner of the poetry collection in your hand."

Chu Li was taken aback for a moment, then looked down and saw that she was indeed holding the book of poems in her palm.

"I used Xinglan's face to see you because I was afraid of scaring you." Shang Liuyu smiled gently. "Don't be afraid, I'm not an evil ghost, I'm just visiting your dream."

As soon as he finished speaking, he was suddenly slapped on the shoulder.

"Get to the point." A woman's voice rang out, but Chu Li couldn't see the other person's face clearly. She just had a vague feeling that it was Shang Liuyu's wife.

Shang Liuyu nodded sheepishly, then looked at Chu Li and whispered, "Go save Xinglan. The E'long will devour all his spiritual energy. You need to find a way to enter Xinglan's spiritual realm; only then can you save him!"

Chu Li stared blankly at the face that belonged to Shang Xinglan for a while, and when he heard him say that Shang Xinglan would die, he immediately came back to his senses and said, "Explain it clearly!"

Upon hearing this, Shang Liuyu hurriedly repeated, "You need to enter his spiritual realm. The forbidden techniques of demonic cultivators can help you. E'long is treacherous and cunning; you must not trust him..."

Before he could finish speaking, Chu Li woke up.

She gasped for breath, clutching her chest in shock, the last words of Shang Liuyu still echoing in her mind.

The treacherous and cunning dragon will devour Shang Xinglan's spiritual energy.

Gu Ye also mentioned that the pattern on Shang Xinglan's body was an E'long.

Was it that she was thinking about it during the day and dreaming about it at night, or did Shang Liuyu really appear in her dream?

Chu Li hurriedly got up from the soft couch, while the little cub was still sleeping soundly beside her, drooling.

She hesitated for a moment, then gently picked up the baby. If that dream was real, this place was too dangerous, and Yinyin couldn't stay here.

Chu Li carried the baby outside and placed it in Shang Jinyue's arms, telling him to take the child to Xie Liyi. Then she relayed to them what Shang Liuyu had said in her dream.

Upon hearing the words "divine consciousness domain," Shang Jinyue's expression changed slightly.

He knew that dream must be real, because Chu Li couldn't possibly know this term on his own. Entering the realm of divine consciousness is one of the four great demonic arts of soul searching, possession, and resurrection.

Shang Jinyue refused without hesitation, saying urgently, "Absolutely not. Entering someone else's spiritual realm is extremely dangerous. If you accidentally injure your brother's spiritual realm, he will either go insane or die from loss of his soul. Even if you don't harm your brother, if you die in his spiritual realm, your body will also die from loss of his soul."

Even demonic cultivators no longer dare to use this kind of spell, so she certainly can't go.

"Keep your voice down, Yinyin is about to wake up." Chu Li made a shushing gesture, pursed her lips, and turned to look at Gu Ye. "You have to help me, I have to go."

Seeing that she completely ignored her warning, Shang Jinyue couldn't help but worry and said, "Sister-in-law, are you really not up to it? What will happen to Yinyin if something happens to you?"

Chu Li paused slightly, then slowly turned her head to look at the little cub's peaceful sleeping face, and whispered, "For Yin Yin's sake, I will never let anything happen to me."

She had to help Shang Xinglan; something must have gone wrong with him. Chu Li couldn't just stand by and do nothing, so she went to take a quick look. If Shang Xinglan was alright, she would immediately leave her spiritual realm.

Thinking of this, she looked at Gu Ye and urged, "Quickly, come in with me."

Gu Ye watched her quietly the whole time, his body motionless. After a long while, when Chu Li realized that he hadn't followed, she turned around to look at Gu Ye, only to hear him say in a low voice, "You should listen to him."

Chu Li was stunned.

“If you die, nothing will matter. Master wants to ascend to immortality so that he can stay by your side.” Gu Ye knew very well that if Shang Xinglan were sober at this moment, he would never let Chu Li take such a risk.

He lowered his eyes and chuckled softly, "So, I'll go."
