Chapter 151: The First Battle to Protect the Ruins: The Beginning of a Breakthrough

The ground shook violently, and the ancient buildings made a teeth-grinding friction sound, as if they would collapse at any time.

Ye Ling steadied herself and grabbed Duan Yu who was about to fall.

Amidst the flying dust, a huge metal figure slowly rose from the ground - it was the guardian mecha of the Fallen Star Ruins!

It was rusty and its energy core was dim, obviously it had been dormant for too long.

"Damn, this thing will take forever to repair!" Gray looked at the huge thing in front of him and couldn't help complaining.

Ye Ling took a deep breath and walked towards the control console.

The complicated wiring and flashing indicator lights made her feel overwhelmed.

The other guardians, including the guy named Locke, stood by and watched coldly with their arms folded, with undisguised sneer on their faces.

"Just her? A junior mecha pilot? Don't be ridiculous!" Locke sneered, "I think she wants to completely destroy the ruins."

Ye Ling ignored Locke's provocation. She opened the terminal and began to analyze the structure of the defense system.

A huge stream of data flooded into her mind, making her feel dizzy.

Fortunately, Duan Yu was there to support her silently, handing her a cup of hot drink from time to time, which made her feel a little warm.

Locke deliberately threw the toughest bone - repairing the core energy circuit - to Ye Ling.

"Little sister Ye Ling, this is a technical job. You have to be careful and don't accidentally blow up the entire ruins." He said sarcastically, his tone full of gloating.

Ye Ling took the task list without saying a word, but a barely perceptible cold light flashed in her eyes.

She called up the system blueprint and began to carefully study the direction of the energy circuit.

The wiring is so complicated, like a tangled mess, that it makes one's scalp tingle.

Sophia also came over and muttered to herself, saying that Ye Ling's thinking was wrong and that she was too slow.

Time passed minute by minute, and beads of sweat appeared on Ye Ling's forehead.

She was so focused that everything around her seemed to disappear.

Finally, she found the problem - the energy connector of a key node was damaged.

"Gray, help me get the spare connector." Ye Ling's voice was calm and steady.

Gray quickly did as he was told.

Just as Ye Ling was about to replace the connector, Locke suddenly walked over and snatched the connector from Gray's hand.

"Wait a minute," he said with a smug smile. "How can you tamper with such an important component? If it breaks, who will be responsible?" He put the connector into his pocket and said, "Let me do it."

Ye Ling raised her head and stared at Locke with cold eyes, "You..."

Locke raised his eyebrows proudly, "What? Not convinced? Even if you're not convinced, you have to endure it. After all, you're just a rookie."

Ye Ling did not angrily refute or ask for help as Locke expected. She just slowly stood up and walked towards the central control room of the ruins...

"Start the backup energy." Ye Ling was not angry as Locke had expected, nor did she ask for help. She just glanced at him coldly, as if she was looking at a clown.

Then she walked straight to the central control room, leaving Locke there at a loss.

"Oh my god, is Sister Ling going to use her ultimate move?" Gray was stunned, feeling that things were becoming more and more interesting.

Ye Ling sat down in front of the console, her slender fingers tapping quickly on the keyboard, and lines of code appeared as fast as a waterfall.

The energy from the ancient mecha's core was quietly injected into the ruins' defense system. The originally dim indicator lights began to flash and emit a buzzing sound.

Seeing this, Locke curled his lips in disdain: "Pretentious! Let's see what you can do!"

However, what happened next surprised him.

Ye Ling was troubleshooting system failures at an astonishing speed. Those minor problems that were ignored by other guardians, including himself, were exposed in front of her.

She even found a few deep-seated vulnerabilities and quickly fixed them.

"Fuck! Sister Ling is so awesome!" Gray couldn't help but exclaim, looking at Ye Ling with eyes full of admiration.

Even the usually eccentric Sophia showed a surprised expression, muttering to herself: "This little girl is quite capable..."

Locke's face turned red and white. He didn't expect that Ye Ling was actually so capable, which made him feel very embarrassed.

The flame of jealousy burned in his heart. He gritted his teeth and decided to find an opportunity to teach Ye Ling a lesson.

With Ye Ling's operation, the defense system of the ruins gradually returned to normal, and the energy shield was reopened, covering the entire ruins.

The originally crumbling building gradually stabilized and made a low roar, as if a sleeping giant beast was waking up.

Ye Ling completed the final operation, took a long breath, and stood up.

She looked at Locke, a faint smile on her lips: "Guardian Locke, now, do you think I am still qualified to repair this thing?"

Locke's face turned pale and he couldn't utter a word.

He glared at Ye Ling fiercely, turned and left, his back looking a little embarrassed.

At this moment, the alarm light on the console suddenly flashed, and a shrill alarm sounded throughout the ruins.

"Warning! Unknown energy fluctuations are detected approaching!" The operator's voice trembled with a hint of panic.

Ye Ling's face changed, and she quickly walked to the control console, staring at the energy value on the screen, and whispered: "Here it comes..." The alarm sounded as the light spot on the screen representing the enemy mecha was getting closer and closer.

Isaac's vanguard is here!
