When Ye Ling heard Ike's exclamation, her brows instantly twisted into a "川" shape.
She rushed to the monitoring screen and saw that the originally stable energy fluctuation line on the screen was now beating violently like an electrocardiogram, sometimes high and sometimes low, which made people feel uneasy.
"Damn, what's going on?" Ye Ling cursed softly, with a hint of nervousness in her tone.
Cultural relic protection is a delicate job. If you are not careful, hundreds of years of historical relics may turn into a pile of rubble.
She immediately signaled to Giggs and Ike, "Hurry, follow me to the Cultural Relics Preservation Laboratory!"
Everyone hurried to the laboratory in two steps.
Ye Ling stood in front of the cultural relic preservation cabin, observing the situation inside. It was a huge transparent cabin that contained an irregularly shaped metal object that emitted a faint silver light.
This thing is the core of their mission. It is a relic of ancient civilization that needs to be safely sent to the interstellar museum. It has been very stable before, but now it suddenly starts to cause trouble.
"The frequency of the energy fluctuations isn't right!" Ike adjusted his glasses, his expression serious. "There must be a problem with the code decryption. I've said before that the runes on this artifact are not ordinary hieroglyphics. There is a deeper cryptic structure within them that needs to be re-deciphered!"
"Bullshit!" Ziggs retorted immediately. "What code structure? I think there's something wrong with the storage environment! This thing is so ancient, it must be very sensitive to environmental changes! Maybe it was vibrated during the battle just now, causing the internal energy to become unstable!"
"What do you know? Every data here is calculated by me accurately. How could it be an environmental problem? You old fogy guy!" Ike pointed at Giggs' nose, his face flushed.
"You're a young brat, you know shit! I've eaten more salt than you've eaten rice, and I say environmental problems are environmental problems!" Giggs was not to be outdone, and rolled up his sleeves to argue with Ike.
Seeing that the two were about to have a huge quarrel, Ye Ling felt a headache.
These two guys are usually quite reliable, so why do they become nitpickers when faced with professional issues?
She quickly stepped in to smooth things over. "Stop, stop, stop! Now isn't the time to argue. We need to first figure out what's going on. Ike, show me your latest decoded data. Giggs, double-check the storage chamber's environmental data."
Ye Ling took a deep breath and tried her best to stay calm.
She felt that the atmosphere in the entire laboratory had become tense, and an invisible pressure filled the air.
She knew that if anything went wrong with the cultural relics, the consequences would be disastrous.
Camille stood quietly by, not saying a word, but her eyes were always fixed on Ye Ling, as if observing how she would handle the matter.
Wayne was also standing nearby, eager to help, but not sure what she could do.
"Wait... my database has been updated with new information..." Ike suddenly exclaimed, an expression of disbelief on his face.
He stared at the computer screen intently, tapping it rapidly with his fingers, the light in his eyes flickering.
His lips trembled slightly, and he uttered a few words, "This is impossible..."
Ike pointed at the screen, his voice trembling: "This artifact... it's actually... calling for its companions!" On the screen, the energy fluctuation curve became more intense, as if responding to Ike's words.
Ziggs' eyes widened, and he nearly dropped the data tablet in his hand. "How is this possible! Isn't this thing an antique? Can it even summon companions?"
Ye Ling stared at the dancing curve on the screen, feeling uneasy.
She remembered the clues she had found about Duan Yu before, which seemed to point to another galaxy.
Did Duan Yu go to that galaxy?
Could this cultural relic be related to Duan Yu’s disappearance?
A heart-wrenching feeling came over Ye Ling. She felt that she was getting farther and farther away from Duan Yu. The clue seemed to be interrupted at this moment.
Her breathing became rapid and it felt like a huge rock was pressing on her chest, making it hard for her to breathe.
The air around her seemed to freeze, and a feeling of depression and sadness enveloped her. Even Camille and Vayne could feel the pain emanating from her.
Wei En felt very uncomfortable when she saw Ye Ling's painful expression.
She knew that Ye Ling and Duan Yu had a deep relationship, and she also knew that Ye Ling had been trying hard to find Duan Yu's whereabouts.
She clenched her fists and decided to do something.
"I'm going to patrol outside." Wayne said, turned and left the laboratory.
She moved quickly along the corridors of the transport ship, her eyes scanning her surroundings warily.
Suddenly, she stopped and narrowed her eyes.
Outside the transport ship's radar scan range, several black spots were approaching rapidly.
"An unidentified flying object has been spotted and is approaching rapidly!" Wayne's voice reached the laboratory through the communicator, breaking the originally depressing atmosphere.
"What?!" Ziggs jumped in shock. "Are they space pirates?"
Ye Ling suddenly raised her head. She suppressed the pain in her heart and said firmly, "Everyone, enter combat mode! Camille, you are responsible for protecting the artifacts! Wayne, you continue to scout the enemy!"
A tense atmosphere instantly spread throughout the ship, and everyone was on edge, preparing for the upcoming battle.
Ye Ling walked to the cultural relics preservation cabin and her eyes fell on the cultural relics in the cabin that were emitting silver light.
She reached out and gently touched the bulkhead, feeling the energy fluctuations emanating from the artifact.
"Who on earth are you?" Ye Ling murmured in a low voice, "Who are you calling?"
Suddenly, she felt a tingling sensation in her fingertips, as if she had been struck by an electric current.
